  1. Started by turtles1118,

Well i got my MJ-18 4ohm last week or so and i had the day off today so i made a box for it, 26 in. wide, 23in. high, 18in. deep, box volume 4.52 (ft3), tuned to 25 hz, 3?4 M.D.F. and no stuffing. Well, when i used an amp that i had pushing a C.V. 15in., just a plain 300 watt 4ohm plate amp and it did dent sound good at all, put the amp back to the 15 and it sounded great. Hooked up the 18 to a amp in my truck and still sounded like crap. What to do What to do? I put a few pics up in the subs area.

I know this subject has been hit several times, I'm looking to do a three way front stage in my wife's altima. I was thinking of doing the Dynaudio Esotec 342 (yes I know that's pretty pricy). I like the configuration of the setup though. 7" woofer 3" midrange and (big) 1" tweet. This will not probably happen for a few months, but I'm doing some research now to know what I'm getting into. Is there anything else out there that may be in the same ball park as the Dynaudio or better for the price. I would greatly appreciate the advice from some of you expierianced SQ guys. Thanks. I will have more question soon.

  3. As the topic says iv decided to build a ported box for my mag 15". The output on the sealed just was lacking / geting traped in the trunk. Iv seen people useing 3.5 tuned to 27 4 tuned to 34 etc and loving it. What exactly is the advantages to straying from the recomend build? And wwhat size would you recomend? If size is not an issue.

Hi guys.. I have been working away feverishly on my car to make it seriously custom.. And its nearly there.. couple of minor touch ups needed from where there were small runs, but you can probably see how far its come from the pics I have painted it with Holographic Micro pearl flake, which shifts from orange to green or not at all depending on the light angle. Here is the car looking neutral and shiny.. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i174/tim.../DCP_0043-2.jpg Some green... Some orange.. In this pic you can see the shift.. follow up the rear pillar from left to right, the orange is shifting into the green I have removed the Lexarse esque tails and replaced them wi…

Hey guys, Just need some info on these babies (the 12" D2's) mainly. First off....price! Secondly, I would like to know how these monsters stack up against the L7's and the Fi BL subs. I'm stuck between getting the 12" L7, BL, or D2. Performance....The car that anything will be put in is a '03 ford taurus (seats do fold down). Each sub will be powered off of a RF T10001.bd amp. in a box like this... http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported...;Fs=27&CE=0 So which sub will I get the most performance out of? The subs that I need to compete with, here in my town, are two 12" L7's. Everyone thinks nothing can compare to them. Can I show them wrong with a couple MAG's?…

I am getting a weird noise from my 12" BM, it sounds like the coil is rubbing or that its bottoming out. It is not on big time bass songs, only on like rock when a kick drum hits hard. I have it in a box I built to try and get it to 2cu ft and 34hz. I am using a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D to power it and have each voice coil hooked up to its own output on the amp. Any help is appreciated.

  12. Not sure if this has been asked before. But I have been considering going with a 15" mag. I know ported is louder. I am just wondering how much or if you loosing power handling going ported. I know that different size sealed boxes do change your power handling. Smaller boxes will require more power do to the compression the speaker is under when it pulls back for a bass hit. Also thinking about going with 34hz tune if I do go ported. What amp would guys recommend for a setup like that and i dont plan on going to a bass comp. But wouldn't mind having the power to show off once in a while.

  13. Which one would be the better choice??? I can get the jbl for 245 and the zapco for 550 shipped, both would be ran at 4 ohms on a 12 Mag. I believe the jbl is rated 787 watts at 4 ohms and the zapco 800 watts at 4 ohms. I really want the zapco but I dont know if power diference is worth $305. Does anybody know if the zapco is stable at 1 ohm??? If yes, then I will definitly pick it up.

I was wondering how 2 mj 18 would do in a Bass reflex (ported) box off of 1000 rms? Will these be loud enough indoor and outdoor? Usually djs for like 50 - 200 max of people. I know these arent PA speakers but will they work?

  17. Ok, so I am finally ready to order my midbass and my tweeters. They will be powered by either a JBL 75.4 (100X4) or a Sundown Audio 100.4 (100X4), and run active by an Alpine 9815. I have narrowed it down to five choices I just need to make sure they will mesh well together and I am open to any other options in my price range. Option 1: Alpine Type X (ditch the Xover) Option 2: Pioneer TS-720PRS (ditch the Xover) Option 3: Seas 27TFFNC and a Seas CA18RNX Option 4: Peerless exclusives With the Seas 27TFFNC Option 5: Mach5 MLI-65 with an undetermined tweeter. My budget is $300 for mids and tweets. the lower the better but I will spend $300 max, not including shipping.

I had a account here a while ago, but I guess it got deleted, wierd . But getting to the point, Ive had a 12" Mag still in its original packaging sitting under my bed for a few months now and its about time I got in a box. There were a few options I was looking at, I) 3.5 ft^3 at 32 hz II) 1.3 ft^3 sealed Looking for lowend output, hard slamming bass Probably gonna give it 600-800 watts, due to stock electrical system. Thanks for your input.

  21. Just thought I'd post and see if anyone happens to have a box design for under the seat of a Silverado Ext. Cab for a 12" Mag D2 ported? I've been working on mocking up a design - but I was hoping someone else may have already done it. I've got a 2" lift kit installed on the rear bench seat - so I've got more room than normal. Also, looking for ideas on which way the sub and port should be facing. All thoughts and ideas much appreciated - thanks!

I have a 2007 honda accord EX-L I have all stock speakers and power. ok i have about $820, to spend, and i was planning on getting a good sub setup, but after thinking maybe i should get a speaker set up first. So what should i do first get 2 good front speakers and an amp to power them. or go with the subwoofer and amp, then later if i dont like how it sounds upgrade the front component speakers?

I am trying to stray my stepfather from going mainstream again and he wants a pair of kicker cvr's which I hear are good subs. But I see that the Maw's are cheaper and heard they sound better any way he is looking to through them in a sealed box as all he really likes is nice rear fill something to give him that nice kick drum in the rear as he listens to a lot of go-go music. Well some of you may be confused as to what is go-go music and the best way I can put it is this way imagine rock n roll with alot of percussions , bass guitars, keyboards, singer, rapper, and they do a lot of covers. So please inform me as to what would be a better setup for him. and will when SS A…

I just got a Fi Q12, running 1000watts from a memphis 16-PRD, and i really need new front speakers, from the stocks. Since the bass is so powerful, i need something that will blend well with the sub. I have a 2007 honda accord V6 EX-L. I am looking for a set up that will sound fluent and smooth with the sub. I am looking to spend around $400 for an amp and a pair of speaker. Do i need anything else to get the front speakers working, (Rewiring, new cables, anything?). because i am on a budget and i really want my setup to sound good.

Behringer EP-1500. its 1400w rms @ 4 ohm i think. this is for rap music, not movies, although once in a blue moon ill watch a movie and might use it. opinions? *EDIT* it is 1400w rms @ 4 ohm (bridged) or 700w rms x 2 @ 2 ohm amp specs: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl....tnumber=248-745
