Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Would the 15 work ok in a smaller than 3.0 cu ft box? The price is very right, and i have heard the SQ rivals the IDQ, but i don't know if i want to fit that large of a box. That would be nearly double the size of my 1.6 ported 12RLP. So if i went sealed i could save some space, but would that be any louder than my ported RLP? Also, would i lose SQ to the RLP?

I have A/D/S 346cs Component set.... these are the 6-1/2 set (the most expensive one they have supposedly) I am looking to ditch the passive X-over and go all active... Question is power I want to get a Sundown Audio SAX-100.4 and go Bi amp on the components Rear channels midbass Front channels tweeters.. Does ANYONE know if EACH (the tweeters will see 100 watts each as the woofers will see their own 100 watts) these components handle this wattage ? The set handles a wattage of 120 watts BUT that is together as a set and i have no idea if it handles the same wattage by itself ? I know I know you are all probably saying why don't i contact the dealer... Well this is the be…

So, I was going to upgrade my system soon. And I am going to get two 15" subs. So here are some of the ones I was looking at that were in my immediate price range. Cerwin Vega VMAX 15.4 Fi SSD15 Rockford Fosgate P3D415 Alpine SWR-1522D So out of those, which set would you all recommend the most? If you know of any other ones please feel free to inform me about them. Thanks ~MadroX

Hi guys.. I have been working away feverishly on my car to make it seriously custom.. And its nearly there.. couple of minor touch ups needed from where there were small runs, but you can probably see how far its come from the pics I have painted it with Holographic Micro pearl flake, which shifts from orange to green or not at all depending on the light angle. Here is the car looking neutral and shiny.. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i174/tim.../DCP_0043-2.jpg Some green... Some orange.. In this pic you can see the shift.. follow up the rear pillar from left to right, the orange is shifting into the green I have removed the Lexarse esque tails and replaced them wi…

  8. Been looking at mach 5 audio and heard so much good thing about it. I have a friend that Dj's hip- hop and trance. I was wondering how 2 mj 18 would do in a Bass reflex (ported) box off of 1000 rms? Will these be loud enough indoor and outdoor? Usually djs for like 50 - 200 max of people. I know these arent PA speakers but will they work?

Hey guys, Just need some info on these babies (the 12" D2's) mainly. First off....price! Secondly, I would like to know how these monsters stack up against the L7's and the Fi BL subs. I'm stuck between getting the 12" L7, BL, or D2. Performance....The car that anything will be put in is a '03 ford taurus (seats do fold down). Each sub will be powered off of a RF T10001.bd amp. in a box like this... http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported...;Fs=27&CE=0 So which sub will I get the most performance out of? The subs that I need to compete with, here in my town, are two 12" L7's. Everyone thinks nothing can compare to them. Can I show them wrong with a couple MAG's?…

  13. Which one would be the better choice??? I can get the jbl for 245 and the zapco for 550 shipped, both would be ran at 4 ohms on a 12 Mag. I believe the jbl is rated 787 watts at 4 ohms and the zapco 800 watts at 4 ohms. I really want the zapco but I dont know if power diference is worth $305. Does anybody know if the zapco is stable at 1 ohm??? If yes, then I will definitly pick it up.

  14. Not sure if this has been asked before. But I have been considering going with a 15" mag. I know ported is louder. I am just wondering how much or if you loosing power handling going ported. I know that different size sealed boxes do change your power handling. Smaller boxes will require more power do to the compression the speaker is under when it pulls back for a bass hit. Also thinking about going with 34hz tune if I do go ported. What amp would guys recommend for a setup like that and i dont plan on going to a bass comp. But wouldn't mind having the power to show off once in a while.

I am getting a weird noise from my 12" BM, it sounds like the coil is rubbing or that its bottoming out. It is not on big time bass songs, only on like rock when a kick drum hits hard. I have it in a box I built to try and get it to 2cu ft and 34hz. I am using a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D to power it and have each voice coil hooked up to its own output on the amp. Any help is appreciated.

  18. Ok, i've been wanting to build a ground pounder for awile now and i'm getting everything worked out before i start. I've gotten some help on box size and tuning (thank you mark) and now i need to figure out my box placement. Looks like the subs will be 4 mj-18's run off a power acoustik a3000db in an 18-20 cube box (depends on if i can fit 20) tuned between 30-35hz. Now i can build the box from behind the front seats back to the tailgate and fire the subs up, or i could build it from the tailgate to where the rear seat is at(it's gonna be out or folded) and fire the subs forward. If the subs fire forward then the port(s) will also. If it would be better firing up, the i'l…

  19. Ok, so I am finally ready to order my midbass and my tweeters. They will be powered by either a JBL 75.4 (100X4) or a Sundown Audio 100.4 (100X4), and run active by an Alpine 9815. I have narrowed it down to five choices I just need to make sure they will mesh well together and I am open to any other options in my price range. Option 1: Alpine Type X (ditch the Xover) Option 2: Pioneer TS-720PRS (ditch the Xover) Option 3: Seas 27TFFNC and a Seas CA18RNX Option 4: Peerless exclusives With the Seas 27TFFNC Option 5: Mach5 MLI-65 with an undetermined tweeter. My budget is $300 for mids and tweets. the lower the better but I will spend $300 max, not including shipping.

I had a account here a while ago, but I guess it got deleted, wierd . But getting to the point, Ive had a 12" Mag still in its original packaging sitting under my bed for a few months now and its about time I got in a box. There were a few options I was looking at, I) 3.5 ft^3 at 32 hz II) 1.3 ft^3 sealed Looking for lowend output, hard slamming bass Probably gonna give it 600-800 watts, due to stock electrical system. Thanks for your input.

A dual 10" SI BM set up in a sealed box would be easily comparable if not better in SQ than two w6's, correct? I'm considering my next setup, even though i just got my SSD's in. haah never happy, althought currently, im extremely happy with the Fi's but ya gotta switch things up.

  25. Just thought I'd post and see if anyone happens to have a box design for under the seat of a Silverado Ext. Cab for a 12" Mag D2 ported? I've been working on mocking up a design - but I was hoping someone else may have already done it. I've got a 2" lift kit installed on the rear bench seat - so I've got more room than normal. Also, looking for ideas on which way the sub and port should be facing. All thoughts and ideas much appreciated - thanks!
