I had my old 4th order BP lying around in my basement so I decided to take it apart and modify a few things. I've made the sealed chamber smaller and I'm going to add more port area to the ported chamber. It will be a slot port facing up along the backglass, 5"x26." Sealed chamber is 1.5 cubes and ported is around 8. Tunage is 45 hz. And yes, it will wang The enclosure looks pretty rough because of wear and tear of taking it in and out of my Jeep but the inside of it is where I sanded down the fiberglass resin. I'll probably just sand the outside and use black spray paint on it. haha. Yeah, the cutouts are off center just a tad Hello big ported chamber All i…

Don't post much here but I thought I would share my setup. I have my 2 SPL 12's in a 4th order bandpass in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. 1.3 cubes per sub on the rear chamber and the front chamber is 7.5 cubes tuned to 55 hz. I need to do some bracing or add a couple more layers but I couldn't wait to give it a listen. They are wired to .5 ohms on my American Bass XD1800 which does 2400 at .5 Since I'm not interested in sq, this setup is right up my ally. these things totally hammer and they aren't even close to getting RMS. They run out of steam around 30 hz (small sealed section) and the enclosure gives a huge peak at 40-50 hz. So far this is my favorite setup. They a…

Was thinking about switching to a SPL 12" Mach 5 Audio sub or a Fi BTL 12" ... My question is about the SPL 12", can they be modded to Dual 1 ohm's or is Dual 2 the standard? Also, would I be underpowering the Mach 5 with 2 Sundown Audio 1500D's or would it be just right? I've gotta make a decision, because I would like to be able to pull the amps down to .25 ohm or .50 ohm for competitions and the MTX 9500 12" I'm currently using, only comes in Dual 4 ohm so I'm only able to get both amps to see 1 ohm. Also what would be the best pricing shipped and who do I need to talk to directly on here? Also would this sub be safe to play music on, on a daily basis? Any input i…

How well do these subs handle daily? I have around 2.7-2.9cuft NET MAX to work with (after port). What frequency do they like to be tuned to? I would like to daily beat and do comps so 38-40hz, or preferrebly lower? I would probably run 1000-1100wrms daily and 3000 for comps (a memphis mcd1000.1 and a sundown 3000.1) with a second battery, big 3, and 130amp alt (factory 90amp). cliffs. box size tuning port size daily good/bad? what do u guys think?

Well, i was just wondering what kind of sub would be the best to get some spl out of a 1 cf box with maybe a little poly fil... Would have to be able to be powered off of a kicker zx750.1 and less than 7" mounting depth... Would like to keep it around 200 bucks but less would be nice and more may be doable but just post anything you think would be good... Sealed box of course and a 12"... Been looking at fi ssd, anything better than that output wise?

I ended up getting a clarion 785usb and i have been wanting to go active for a while. I need some help with drivers tho. I really like the Eminence alpha 6 mids and i was looking at selenium horns, but i think theyd be pretty hard to get into the doors. Could you guys reccomend a decent metal dome tweet with a relatively shallow mounting depth that gets pretty darn loud? I have about 50 watts at 4 ohm and 70 at 2 ohm to work with and i think the crossover point would be like 3khz with that mid? oh and budget would be like 25ish for an 8 ohm driver or 40-50ish for a 4 ohm driver.

  20. So I have been under the misconception that the main difference in build was spiders. I thought that the main difference between SPL subs and SQ subs was SPL had super tight multiple spiders, raising the Fs, raising power REQUIREMENT, where as SQ subs had 1 loose spider lowering the Fs and allowing the speaker to move easier reducing power "handling". I am now learning I am WAY off. I thought SQ subs were most efficient, and SPL subs were super inefficient power hungry beasts wasting power. So now I am hearing that... let's go with the Fi lineup for comparison: I see the BTL on 1 end of the spectrum has the largest permenant magnet, a solid pole piece...no pole vent. I b…

I currently have a 3cuft3 box tuned at 40hz for my Soundstream SPLX sub @ 1k rms. I found out that the box is way to big for this sub thats why it sounds like the bass is "lagging". I have looked around and found that the Mach5 SPL 12" is the best for price to performance ratio but i have a couple questions that you guys might be able to answer. What size box will i need and whats the best tuning frequency for a loud daily running 2k rms (Unless thats to much) And will i have to order one from the US as i am from Australia but the Aus site only lists the SPL 15" not the 12" and my email hasn't been replied to. Last of all what is the quality like on these for music i no …

A number of folks have been asking when the SPL-15 would be available. Given the existing sales of the current SPL-12, I am finding it difficult to justify the added expense for another driver in the line. I am however, open to doing a small run of SPL-15's provided there is commitment from those folks who are interested in acquiring one (or two or three...). To picture of what the SPL-15 would look like, imagine the beefiness of the SPL-12, only in a bigger version. There, simple wasn't it? So, those of you who spoke of, or asked about an SPL-15, belly up to the bar and let's talk about it. Best, Mark
