Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Started by T9X,

I've been searching all over here and CA.com for vented box specs for my Mag. I've tried using the box calculator at subwoofertools.com and I keep coming up with ~73in^3 of port area. From reading around it seems like I should be closer to the low-mid 60s. Am I correct or should I just stick with the plans swt.com is giving me?

  2. So a friend decided to go ahead and buy the same sub I have. With me being the loudest in the area he is now the loudest since his is in a hatchback while mine is in an SUV. My question is what upgrade should I go for? With 40 inches wide and 25 deep for the top, 6 12s would be difficult to fit unless I angled the top baffle. I also couldn't do more than three 15s unless, again, the top is angled. A second 18 would be doable but I want opinions on which would sound louder. The plan is a wall behind the C pillar, behind the second row. It's all just planning now, however.

So ive been convinced by a third party to swap my fosgate amps for some audison amps and im wondering if i should still go all active up front. Im looking at 2 SRX 5 channels rated at 4X75, 1X160 @ 4ohm or 2X150 1X160 @ 4ohm (all my drivers are single 4) and i was planning on keeping my 301x fosgate amp I need to power pair front tweets, pair front midrange, pair front midbass, pair rear passive componants and center channel (9 channels) Ive sorta boiled it down to either All Audison active = 2X150 front midrange, 4x75 rear and front tweet, 2x160 midbass and center channel off the fosgate Fosgate/audison active 2X150 front midrange, 2 X150 rear, 2X160 midbass and center…

  4. Started by chainsaw,

I just bought a used Sundown Saz-1500d. For the moment I will be running it at 2 ohms with my dual 4 ohm voice coil DD2510. Within the next two paychecks, I wanna get something that will take the full 1 ohm power of the 1500. I am leaning towards a 15", but a couple of 12"s could be cool also. Just as long as I can wire to 1 ohm and get the full 1500 or so watts. -This is a daily driver, but if I can potentially get loud enough, I would maybe compete in street beat or similar. -budget is a $350 ish (used or new). less would be nice. -before installing the amp, I'm adding a yellow top in the trunk and one run of 1/0 for it. as well as big 3.

Does the CDT Eurosport 07 component set live up to the hype. The retail on the 3-way component set is crazy. I'm debating getting me a set of these or if I should stick to Sea's Reference, Dynaudio, or Focal. I'm looking for a serious front stage (3-way fully active) and wonder how these CDT's Euro's compare the the above mentioned. I listen to jazz, blues, rock, and rap. I currently run a set of Boston Pro 6.5's and I think they sound very nice so how will these CDT's rank up? Thanks for all opinions.

  6. looking to get some nice midbass+highs, looking to upgrade from my infinity's was looking at the cheaper cdt audio comp sets was thinking of getting a 6.5" comp set and a 4" comp set so 2 6.5's 2 4's and 4 1" tweets i would put 1 of each per door and then 1 tweet in each front window pillar or next to me in the verticle pillar by seatbelt would that be a bad idea? too much tweeter?and could i wire two 4 ohm crossovers together for two ohm's? so 2 crossovers per channel

I have 4 6.5 SXMP mid range speakers that I want to run together in my Tundra. I have come across a Sundown SAE-600D mono amp for a great price. Will this amp be suitable for these 6.5s? Thanks.

Just thought I'd mention a new kid on the block for home audio loudspeakers and projects. Mike, another DIYer who likes to do things himself decided to take things public and help spread the (free) word about how much better we can make our systems sound. Take a moment out to check his site - http://speakerhobby.com/index.htm He has a forum as well where you guys can share speaker projects of any design using any brand. Cool stuff! Best, Mark

I was thinking about getting 2 15" D2's, with the sale and all, and just wondering if anyone knows if I'd be able to fit them in a 03 mustang without taking out the rear seats or MAJOR madding to the trunkspace (any cutting of metal). I was thinking of taking the floor off the trunk and moving the spare, and using that space to house them, anyone know for sure if this would work? I was considering just getting 12's, but I like the "wow" factor of the 15's . Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Maybe somebody on here could help me with this question I have, I have two Brahma MkII 12's and they sound good I have a JBL BP1200.1 per sub, at 3.2 ohms in a 1.7cf boxes for sub. I want louder so I want to know should I go with a bigger box and leave them at a 3.2 ohm load or should I bridge the amp and leave the same box or bridge and go bigger box also. the amp is rated at 1200x1 at 2 ohms and 600x1 at 4 ohms, So I figured that at 3.2 oms I am running close to the 600 watts most of the time. Could really use some help, Thanks

I am looking at the $25 TC9 motor, for those who do not know what I am talking about they can be found at caraudiojunkyard.com. There are 4 variations of the TC9 motor, which one is this? The only thing I know about them is that they are the ones with the 1" slugs. Is that the same motor that is used on the SS RL-P's? If not does anyone know of a sub that this model TC9 motor is used on? I am trying to figure out which one I am getting. If it is the model on the RL-P's then I might have to get some for sure.

Had two ppl order DC lvl4xl15s d2 and they where both coming from Mojo 15s. I did and Audiopipe 1800D on one DC in a CRX and they guy sad it was way louder that the mojo on his Kole amp. Cool all is right with the world... btw he has the big 3, double 1/0 and an extra batt. My other customer has a '94 Buick Park Ave with a 2610D from Hifonics. ALso with extra batt, big three, and 1/0 power and ground front to back. I have built this guy 5 boxes in the past 6 months(he's indecisive and we are both ok with this) and he is claiming the mojo is louder across the board. Box is 4cubes tuned to 32hz facing drivers side with the back seat cushion removed. How can I build a box…

I am looking to build a DIY 6.5 component set to set up in my car after I deaden the doors. I was thinking of using the Mli-65 mid but wasn't sure on the tweeter maybe these tang bands http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=264-840 My real question was, regardless of components I pick, what is the best way to cross them over? I have a HPF option on the JVC HU at 55hz, 85hz, and 125hz, then my alpine amp has a HP/LP filter from 50-400hz.

Hey everyone. I am getting ready to order equipment for my new boat. In my last boat I ran two FI Q 12's with the high qts option in 1 cube sealed fiberglass enclosures (after displacement) with 1200 watts rms each. With that I have two questions: 1) What subs would you recommend (I have been looking at the Xcon, Q, and Exile Big, but am open to anything). I have a Exile 2500.1 amp that I plan to use which puts out 2500 watts at 1 ohm. 2) What would fit best in the space provided (info below)? (I know I can fit 2 12's sealed again easily) Anyway, the new boat gives me some more room to play with, but limited access. I know I want to install one sub on the drivers si…
