  8. Lots of info in this post, but I will bold the important bits and questions I have. Feel free to read it all but my main questions stem from box design perspectives. I can create another thread about electrical if needed so try to limit the discourse to enclosure related topics, cheers!! After much trial and error the only reasonable design choice left is to go for a slot port. I have tried and tried to fit an aero port however I have come across two problems. 1. I have to make my box far too large for my power >5 cubes net or 2. my port becomes feasibly too long to fit inside my box or outside (>28") along with airspeed issues with an 8 inch port (50 i…

  11. So i got a new clutch/flywheel put in my car. My mechanic put my old parts in my trunk which i forgot about. My sub doesn't have a grill and that box full of parts broke the 10" ssa dcon rubber surround and even the cone. I tried using silicone, but the sub sounds like crap! Can i get a new cone and rubber or should i start looking for a new 10"?

Where can I buy these Mach Audio MLI6.5? Not in the SSA store right only from the mach5audio.com website? I am also going to get some seas tweeter. I have an eclipse ea4000 so the woofers will be getting 75rms each and so will the tweeters. My headunit is a sony cd700 or whatever with graphic equalizer etc.... can I go active with it? Just with the headunit? This is my dumb idea. Cross everything over at 75hz and then play the woofers and mids, but obviously that isn't right? Anybody give me a hand or point me in the right direction if I'm doing this right? -Andres

I'm buying 2 JBL GTO1502D (15") and I went on their website to see a box layout. But I don't really want to do that. Anyone have any ideas or sites maybe I could see a dual box layout. Someone told me I should do enclosed no vents, but I think I might need vents. A bit of help please? Either a site that shows me a build blueprint for dual 15" or a site I could buy dual enclosed box, cheap? regards, timinsk

Hello all, I'm in the process of designing a box for my 99 grand Marquis. One zv4 15 d1 running of a bc3500 @2 ohm for now, until I get a new alternator soon, then will do.5 ohm. The two options I have with the space available would be 3.5 cubes net with 60"port volume and 36.5"length. This would give me ~32 hertz...I think. Or 3.75 cubes net with 38.5" port length to give me ~30 hertz. So my question is, if I go with the bigger box with the lower tuning, will I lose allot of output in the top end? The sub will be firing up with the port firing back. I also cut out behind the arm rest and took the speakers out rear deck to let more air flow Through

First if would like to say hi to everyone on the forum. I am 34 and have been buying stereo stuff since before i bought my first car. never got into box building or fabrication but i know a little bit about a thing or two lol. Ok my lasst set up was a single ssd 15" powered by a Memphis 400watt 2 channel amp...i know not enough juice by the us amps i had been running fried. Well i sold that a few years ago and looking into buying a new set up for my 08 gmc envoy. Its not going to be for competing unless some little punk tries being stupid and i have to show off a bit. But i am needing help on a choice. i am trying to decide between 4 different subs right now. all are du…

  17. This is just a question out of curiousity. In the past I had a few different pair of sealed 12s. I have had Orion P12s, JL W3D4 12s and now SSA dcon 12s. IMO the dcon 12s don't get that loud sealed. The P12s & W3D4s I had were louder (I know the dcons may own either ported). Kicker subs also tend to be capable of getting loud sealed. What other pairs of 12 inch subs tend to get loud and sound good in the 500 watt power range sealed?

  19. Hi all, I have a BTL n2 12" actually, and I love it. but I want more now ! I was thinking of reconing it to a 15" sub. Can you tell me what I need to buy from Fi, of course ? Recone kit, basket ? Is it hard to do ? Can I find a tutorial here or elsewhere (I'll try Google !). I won't do it myself as I am not very familiar with speaker recones and tools, and ...anything !!! a friend of mine will do it, but I want to know some things before. I already have a design for a good box. It must be around 3-3.5 ft3 net @ 32 Hz ! Thanks in advance for your help.

  22. I've always been a fan of sealed boxes. I know alot of you are anti-sealed and also feel that sealed setups can't get loud, but I beg to differ. Which of these could get louder sealed? 2 IA Lethal Injections 12s 1 IA Death Row 15 1 SSA Xcon 15 2 SSA Icon 12s 2 DC Level 3 12s

I need to know the diameter of the bottom part of a 12" Mag's motor. If all go as planned (which is now my 7th plan), the box is going in a sealed box to fit in hear: http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/474/571/166973.jpg http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/474/571/166974.jpg http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/474/571/166975.jpg The bottom slopes and I didn't take that into acount in my first few designs. I'm planning something like this (side view): http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/474/572/179813.jpg And if the diameter of the bottom is more then 4", it will hit the bottom board. And I"ll have to look for another driver.

I am building a new enclosure to put in the trunk of a car... It will be built with the sub facing upward, so which direction should i face the port? Should it fire towards the front, side, or back? I do not want to fire it towards the back if I do not have to because it make the trunk lid rattle more... Please help me w/ this asap... Thanks guys.
