Subwoofers / Speakers

I am planning a new build and I want to run an active 3-way set up. I'm new to the whole active thing but have been told by more than a few people that building my own 3-way is the way to go. My available power is 50x2 rms for the tweeters 100x2 rms for the mids 200x2 rms for the midbass I am at a loss when it comes to choosing raw drivers. Any recomendations? Also will the fact that my amps are not made by the same manufacturer affect the sound?Or would I have to be superman to hear a difference?

Really would like a pair of IXL 10s but I'm not liking the D2 coils. Any chance of some D1 or D4s? Sure would make running a pair on the likes of a 1500D more enjoyable. I'm sure they don't need 750 each, but the headroom would be nice.

Alright guys i have a 99 monte carlo and the factory speaker size is 5.25" but i found very nice 6.5 speakers Image Dynamics CTX65CS i think for the price they are unbeatable but heres my questions is there any easy way to fit those into my car without any custom fabrication? I'm wanting to build an enclosure for my 15" Ascendant Audio Arsenal. I haven't decided between ported or sealed yet, but I was looking for some suggestions on size for a sealed box or size/tuning for a ported box. About the only thing I've considered is I'd like it to be reasonably small as possible. I would also like tight, punchy, controlled bass as I mainly listen to rock. I sometimes listen to rap/hiphop/bass/techno (you know, the boomy music) every once in a while so I'd still like it to be able to hit. Can you give me a few recommendations on box size? i ordered a 15" magnum d2 but i didnt get a box yet. my friend says i could use his box. its a 15" and its ported but its only like 2 cubic feet. i do plan on gettin another box but how will the magnum sound in this box

I'm trying to design a center port enclosure and the port is confusing the hell out of me. I am assuming I am going to have bends in the port.. So would that change my # of common port walls to 3? Also, when measuring port length, do I measure down the center of the port, or divide it in half and measure the centers of the two halves? Any and all help is much appreciated.

Whats up this is my first Post on SSAudio.com's forums. I have been lurking around for a little bit and am a regular poster on CA.com I just have a quick question... I just picked up a 12" Magnum D2 for a temporary system until the new mags come out (hopefully soon). I know the SI website says either 1.5 cubes @ 32 Hz, or 2.0 cubes @ 29 Hz. The 1.5 cubes seems kind of small but the 2.0 @ 29 Hz seems like too low of a tuning. I was wondering if I could do like 2.5 cubes @ 32Hz? What would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance!

im looking at the FI BL15 and they have it so you can customize your sub but i have no idea what some of the option are that i can choose. P champer? Cooling? Flatwind? Extreme Lead? Universal? anyone have any ideas on what they are talking about when asking if i want these and what benefits do that have to getting them. im just looking to get as much SPL out of this sub as i can

i have a set of bravox carbon fiber comps and a set of coaxials i was thinking bout grabbing another pair of coax's and putting them up front with my comps. i can mount midbass in door and tweeter on a pillar or in kickpod with coax or coax in the door and comp set in the kick panel. (best spot for tweeters? kick or high up on a pillar?) i was planning on running the front comps active but if i can't due to this setup i prob won't care since it'll be easier to do this and prob louder. my main reason for more speakers is i am guessing that i will not be able to hear music over the bass and i would like it somewhat close to balanced (2 18in XXX) i was wondering if it is a d…

I have a ssa 15" xcon in a 4.0CF box tuned to 29hz in the back of my wagon. Its hooked up to a hifonics 1610d amp which is rated at 1600rms at 1-ohm at 14.4v. I want any advice for adjusting this so my sub stops bottoming out on deep songs like bass i love you. I have tried the sub-bass filter but if i turn it up anymore those deep songs lose the deep bass that it can hit fine without bottoming out. its those notes below 25hz that bottom it out, but the sub-bass filter only has a 12db slope and it lets to much in. So what do I do? I don't want to wreck my xcon.

i measured my truck dimensions for where sub will go. ( i cant fit that 15 inch so i guess im going 12 well with my space requirements i can either fit the sub firing downwards or firing forwards/backwards. the problem is its a tite fit so if i build it to downfire it wont fit if i face it forwards, forwards wont fit firing downwards. which way should i face it? what differences will forwards or downwards have. i refuse to face it upwards becuase my luck ill drop something right on it. and i cant find any nice grills for high excursion subs.

if i bought a 2 ohm btl would i need a 1 ohm stable amp?

Hey everybody, Currently Ive got a Image Dynamics ID12v.3 in a 1cuft sealed enclosure powered by and Alpine M500 in my Subaru Impreza. I find myself wanting just bit more impact. Im curious about an IXL 10 in a sealed enclosure... What do you guys think? Could it do it? What kind of power would be needed? 1000watts? Will more power but less cone and less XMAX be able to do it? Anyway just looking for experience and opinions on this. Thanks!

Dont know much about the Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection 12 subwoofers. Just want to know are they a SQ or a SPL type of sub and is it a everyday driver?

Alright guys need some help i have 2 sets of subs i have 2 12 inch MTX 9500s and Two 12 inch FI BTLs i was wondering which set i should put in my car with the two SAZ 3000ds. Im wants SPL and SQ but preping for competition just wanting to see opinions thanks!
