Subwoofers / Speakers

At this juncture, I don't have a particular subwoofer in mind. I would just like to inquire whether I can build a ported enclosure larger than recommended to obtain a lower tuning. If so, what level of increase could potentially harm the driver? Thank you.

Hey everybody i just orderd a dcon the other day and i have a box orderd also and its 2.0 cubic ft. and tuned to 41 hertz and it says that its best to have it at 33 hertz and i was wondering if that would affect the sub and if so how?

So, I recently purchased a set of ID X65 and XS28 to run active. Got everything installed and working correctly yesterday and today one of the tweeters just stopped dead in it's tracks. I'd say about an hour of play time. I tested the driver for continuity and got nothing so it's definitely the tweeter that failed. I am running a RF T400-4 with the tweeters on front channels and the mids on the rears. I set gains with a DD-1 to the 0db track and all pass for xover on the amp. I crossed the tweets at 2.5k with 24db slope to start with. I am using the network mode on my pioneer 80prs for xover duty. Was this just a faulty unit? Or am I doing something wrong? About a small XBL^2 Full Range driver, capable of replacing a tweeter, and playing down to about 300Hz? Sound like something you fella's would be interested in? I was wondering if anyone had any input on this matter So I have a single 15" xcon that I can barely fit into my trunk, it's a 2005 grand prix. I've built two boxes for it and both of them will not fit smooth in the trunk. Meaning I tried to get the optimal box volume for the sub and it wouldn't fit unless I put the top plate on after it was in the trunk. Not a good idea when trying to remove it. So I was thinking of maybe trying 4 8 inch subs. I just wanted to hear if any one had any thoughts of the output comparison. Will the output be somewhat close to the 15, will it have a completely different sound. I've never heard 4 8s so I have no idea how it will sound

I own two rockford t1's and are a true rockford fan but want some more poundage but i recently saw the steve meade videos and am intrigued. i notice hes running a Rf amp of course but not the t2's which makes me wonder. what do you guys think would be better and i want an opinion from someone who actually has heard both on which i should go with. 2 t2 15'' or 2 btl 18"

So I've been slammed (as usual) so without typing for an hour or more about what I've been doing I'll put it simply: My car got in a fight with a curb, the curb won, the car is fixed (all right side lower control arms, front rotor, lower ball joint on pass and steering ball joint on driver side were all replaced b/c of the accident and I installed new shocks all the way around while tearing the car apart). Not looking for anything spectacular, just something decently loud with decent sq that gets low for around 150. This will be going in a suburban so there is plenty of room. I was thinking about 1 15" RE srx? Or maybe even a 18" dayton classic? Just looking for some cheap bass, nothing extravagant.

I feel I am confusing myself here. a subwoffer with dual voice coils has a rated wattage of 500W, that is for a single voice coil? if its for both voice coils is it rated at 500W in series or parallel? wiring a dual 1ohm sub that is rated at 200W in series means that sub can still take 200W as that's what the first voice coil sees. wiring a dual 1 ohm sub that is rated at 200W in parallel means it can take 400W as that is what the 2 coils can take together. am I right or wrong here in the way im explaining this? I'm building a 99 2dr Tahoe with 4 DC level 6 18's with 20k watts going to them, and I need some suggestions on the mids and highs. I have an Eclipse 7200 mkII head unit and an Audision bit one laying around that I will be using. I lalso have a DD C2 and an Alpine pdx 150.4 that are not being used that i can use or I might just buy new amps. I need a front stage that will keep up with the bass and not sound horrible. Thanks

I listen rap - dub step music, my car is 4 door hatchback. HU is alpine 9831, amplifier will be HFi2000D. I have a second batteries and 0awg cable. i posted this over at caraudio.com just now and i thought id post it over here to get your guys' opinion as well. I have heard on other forums that the trunk of my car (1990 BMW 325is) is very well sealed off and its hard to get bass into the car so I am considering putting some 8's in the rear deck. Preferably 2 but I may be able to add a third. Just wondering if you guys could direct me in the right area and give me some ideas for nice 8 inch woofers. I want these things to get as loud as possible, I was originally planning on getting a 12" SX. I have looked into the RE8's, the Crystal Comps, and and Diamond Audio CM3. Okay everbody my cousin is getting ready to put a system and wanting to put some bass in tjere and she wants it to get loud but also have pretty good sound quality and what would yall run 2 15in dcons or 1 18 zcon either way it would be tuned to about 33hrtz also will buy the amp when we decided which we are going with.

Whats up guys. I am currently in the market for two solid SQ 12's to run off of the SAE-1200D I have on the way. This will be going in another vehicle of mines. I have never done a dual 12 setup so I figured it was about time to try it out. Well usually when I'm at a stop light I turn my sub off so I don't annoy anyone. But some other guy was blasting his bass at the stop light. So I figure why not embarass him or give him a taste of his own medicine. I crank my 15" way up and a matter of seconds later he stopped playing his. Then when I stopped playing mine he tried turning his up and so I cranked mine up and left it cranked up. It was pretty fun. Wasn't anywhere near my house so no worries of getting ripped off. i couldnt take it no more guys! i was dying from the inside out because i was missing my favorite hobby of all. while i was half waisted last night (not trying to brag) i got to watching all my old videos of the hccas and zcons... so i got on craigslist this morning and hit a dude up. i ended up trading the 3 OS vfl 10s i had and $50 for 2 kicker l5 12s in a box. now before everyone starts in on the whole kicker thing, i dont have enough $ to get some nice sundown or ssa stuff.. the l5s are just a start. i have like $120 in them so i dont think thats bad at all... so glad to be back in the game!! And they are MINT condition...
