Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

I just got this e-mail from john after over a year over not selling they are finally available Hello, You had requested to be put on the list to be notified once our AV woofers were in stock again. We finally have these available. Due to a mismatch at the plate shop you can now get AV woofers at a special price for a limited time. The T-yokes have a clear zinc plating and top plates have a yellow zing. This makes absolutely no difference for anything other than cosmetics. They still come with the same 3 yr warranty, parameters are identical, and they will function the same as with the matched plating. Frames are not black instead of the previous silver. The re…

  3. well i think i'm pretty much sold on SI subs now. Since my car's setup is out of commission for a bit while i redo the wiring and install, i took the Magnum over to my friends who just got a SX. I always wanted to see how the SX and Magnum compared and finally got to see. The SX is an admirable sub but i think the Magnum was a little bit much for it. While the average SPL could be considered equal, the Magnum seemed to want to be abused much more than the SX. also the SQ on the magnum never really seemed to waiver while the SX had problems on really tough bass songs like the "woofer cooker" and even Perfect Circle's Lullaby and song 11 or 12 on ....(crap don't rememb…

This is one HOT woofer! i like the cone cover heres the rear end: upside down: nice shot of the surround: RE8 comparison. If the 700 had the bumped backplate like in the proto pix, it would have easily been beefier than the RE8:

well once again my XXX isnt happy, it made its little popping noise again. well i was driving home listening to it on 18/40 and thought i heard it stop for a sec and start backwell song pauses in bass lines any way but it quit and kicked back on i think so i lowered it down to abou 11/40, 5 mins later it poped again , it isnt really loud now like it was a few weeks back when it popped, but i assumed it was a voltage problem then, but it wasnt even up loud now i was using a zen micro mp3 player and a fm transmitter because my adapter for rca is setting in front seat waiting for me to put it in, so it isnt as loud as it can be, now here are some things that could be wrong..…

I've learned the advantage of kicks are the ability to even the amount of space between your ears and the speaker, help with midbass response from being sealed, and help with aiming and imaging. But i've heard that most speakers were made for IB use and some companys like rainbow don't reccommend sealed enclosures. And could a headunit with time alignment solve the problem of the driver distance? The reason i ask is because i want to put some woofers into my door to cover from 80hz~800hz and want to know would it be a GREAT advantage to put them in kicks if i got a pair with good off axis response, and had time alignment. Would i still get a lot more midbass from a sealed…

ok, well i am loving the Magnum and wantto add a 2nd 12 into my car, no 15s too big. But one, i know they no longer make them and only newer ones will be coming out. Secondly they only make D2 versions. Should i wait for the new ones to come out and will they be D4 or should just buy another one of the older siler multi spoke ones and get another amp?

Can anybody recommend a ported box size for a single S.I. Magnum 15". I`m after STREETBASS / SQ For SPL I`ll insert a port bung Depending on box size, I`ll be getting 3 or 4 Magnums. I can easily fit a 16 Cu.Ft. No-Wall box in the car. Thanks in advance guys. Regards. Marcos

Well it looks like the SI 15" is going to have some competition from the 16" OV2 as it finally came out. I guess we'll see which is supreme. Some of the comments from mags for the ED line: "the embodiment of what a great subwoofer should be" "the real deal" "defines how low frequency should be reproduced"

well not really funny but the guys at the tire shop got one hell of a laugh out of my visit. So I went to get my tire patched do to a nail. No biggie right? well after they patch it they call me out there and show me my back tire how it is worn badly on the insides. And they are less than a year old. So we start talking about what caused it, and they say it is probably the alignment since they were just rotated and use to be on the front and the front ones show a little wear also. Well they throw it up and put the machine on it to align it. They then come back inside and he asks me "Do you tend to carry a heavy load around often? cause your back end is really low." Well …

  19. Hello again. O.K. I`m a DD user who`s about to jump ship. I have 4x PowerBass XA-3000D amps. Use to compete in dB drag Street "C" Anyway. I`m fed up now cos all I can do is turn up at a show, BURP & that`s it, battery charging again. So I`m ripping out my boot install & now want to have a No-Wall install using 4x S.I. Magnum 15" in a ported box tuned to 27Hz or so. I want some STREETBASS again A few questions though. Can the Magnums take a PowerBass amp each? I was actually planning to use just 2 PowerBass amps to power the 4x Subs. If they can take one amp each that would be something. Bear in mind that I want to turn up at a show & play the system LOUD &am…

  20. i have an audiobahn 4002T amp and i am gonna be getting some money from my scholarships that i didnt use for tuition. i dont have a whole lot of money and i am runnin stock battery and alternator so i cant go too many watts. i may get a new amp someday, but if i do it wont be over 600 watts. anyways, i have 400 watts bridged at 4 ohms and i am trying to figure out what sub i want. i know i want 1 12" and a ported box tuned to 30-32 Hz. i want pretty decent SQ, i want it to hit low, hit hard, and get loud. so basically LSQ. i am between the RE SX and the Rl-p but i just cant decide. since the SX is only dual 4 ohm, i can wire it to 2 ohms or 8 ohms. i am a little worried …

I am currently getting all the peices together on my new setup. I will be running 3 12" Memphis pr's in a ported box. I believe the box is tuned in the low 30's. Stock alternator, and a ed Nine.1, giving each around 400 watts a peice. it's going into an extended cab truck.... anyone have a guess at around how loud this setup is going to be? i'm just curious at what you guys think.

Last I had the system installed I was running my 15" Ti in a 4.3^3ft enclosure tuned to ~24Hz with roughly 750w on it. Loved the way it performed but I sold the Viper, partly because I needed money and parly because I plan on keeping the Ti and didnt like not using the amp to its full extent. Im thinkin around 1.2-1.5kW in something around 3^3ft tuned to a fairly low frequency. What do yall think for a daily set-up? I dont have any programs any more, they are all on the desktop which is en-route to Norfolk right now so I can't plot the enclosure size and tuning to see how it would work out. I know Denim has a lot of experience with Ti's, anyone else?

hmm i got some info today about ported boxes. I was thinking about using a ported box and porting the bass into my cabin. Well... it turns out all the port itself does is boost and PLAY the frequency it is tuned to, and the majority of the bass still comes from the front wave of the sub. so if i tune the box to 31 hz and i stick the ports into the cabin into the cabin i will hear boom boom boom BOOM boom BOOM the "BOOM" being the frequency the port is tuned to and it will overwhelm rest of the bass. i think thats why spl people like to upfire the ports into the cabin. any comments?
