  1. I just sent payment for a used xcon and I'm wondering if someone could help me out. By the pics, is this a current model and if i were to order another 12" new from ssa would it be a matching sub? Just that pics of others seem to have a black spider on them. http://i146.photobuc...9-38-01_429.jpg http://i146.photobuc...19-36-51_73.jpg http://i146.photobuc...9-36-22_312.jpg Thanks!

I have the Tweets and Mid-Range already. I was planning on using them with the 4x Vifa PLs I already have, but considering the Usher Mid-Bass a bit. Click on pictures for more information: Tweets Mid-Range Mid-Bass Any opinions? Crossover points/slopes suggestions? I think it might be kinda unique to tell people when they ask that my front stage is all "Usher Audio" and see the puzzled look. Although "Vifa" Mid-Bass would get the same look from most people I'm sure. The Hammer

  3. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using a car audio sub in a home theater setting? I will be getting a Crown amp that is somewhere aroung 4k - 5k watts so power shouldn't be too much of an issue. I was mostly looking at building a box for a single 15" since the box for a 18" jumps up in size considerably. Any info and/or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Eric

I was thinking of using my current Mag15 in a HT setup once I get my new Mag in. Unless I sell this one first. How do you think it would do? I assume it would kick ass, especially considering the sq. I have also read where people usually double the box size when doing a HT install. Is this neccasary? Or would 4-5cuft ported still do?

  6. i mapped out some EQ settings in a new box design. 9 cubic feet with a 32 hz tuning and 128 port area. Fi audio SP4 18 on a ZX2500.1 this is my first time ever looking into any EQ or using win isd to this level. im sure most of you will remember that my goal here is to get a flat responce curve with as few peaks as possible up into the 65hz range for the music i like. am i on the right track here? a gain of 3 db @ 65hz a static gain of 2db across the system a gain of 3db at 32hz a gain of -3.5db at 38hz a gain of 2db @ 50hz xover at 100hz sub sonic at 28hz air velocity is 20m/s impedance does not drop below 3.6ohm while inside of xover frequencies. max VA is 4KW …

  7. I'm looking for some expert advice from the makers of the drivers. About 2 years ago I purchased 2 18IBs. I built a IB sub in the ceiling and about 2 months later I sold the house and moved. Before moving I pulled my 18s from the ceiling and now they are sitting in my closet. The big problem is my new home is not conducive to the IB design (no basement, flat roof). So, the question is can I use the IB drivers in a sonotube design? If not, why not? If I did, although it may not be ideal, what should I expect? Any light you can shed is much appreciated. Richard

I want to have a system that hits the lows really good. (yeah you haven't heard that one before) But that's pretty much the reason I went with two Fi Q 18" instead for 15s or even 12s. So this is my option, I go for a sealed 10.24ft3 filled with PolyFiberfill giving me a theoretical volume of 11.5-12ft3 or I throw out the back seats and make one huge vented enclosure with subs and port firing towards the front seats. I don't really want to throw out the back seats, but if the vented system would be a lot better at the lows then I'm going for it. The questions is what system will hit the lows the best and give the best SQ? I'm also looking for some loudness, but it isn…

  12. Building a wall, and need input on sub(s). It's in a 1974 Mini, so not that much room, but have thrown out the back seats and the wall is in progress. I'm guessing maybe 12-14cu.ft. total airspace? Will check later. I have a 2 x 1000 W RMS @ 1 ohm OR 1 x 2000W RMS @ 2 ohm amp (Helix Dark Blue 1000.2). What's the best "ground pounder" option for my wall with that power and space? To explain what I like, I have two JL 10W7's in my daily driver, 9 cu.ft. @ 20hz, and love them to death! I want decent SQ aswell. I want it to go deep, only playing 50-60hz and down. Have (3) Morel Elate SW10's for 50-60's and up, which will go in a separate enclosure below the wall. RE XXX-18 a…

I feel I am confusing myself here. a subwoffer with dual voice coils has a rated wattage of 500W, that is for a single voice coil? if its for both voice coils is it rated at 500W in series or parallel? wiring a dual 1ohm sub that is rated at 200W in series means that sub can still take 200W as that's what the first voice coil sees. wiring a dual 1 ohm sub that is rated at 200W in parallel means it can take 400W as that is what the 2 coils can take together. am I right or wrong here in the way im explaining this? (again this is how it was just explained to me at work and now I feel confused.) if you have a dual 2 ohm sub you can wire that sub up to 4 ohm or down to 1 o…

  23. The voice coil wire on my subwoofer disconnected from the terminal. and the Terminal popped off the basket. It is one of those old timey sub terminals like the ones you see on some 6x9's. Any way to replace it or fix myself? Maybe a good solder job? Thanks in Advance ~MadroX

I have a PowerBass XS15Dv.2 that I just picked up and only had 500Watts RMS pushing the Damn thing and the positive on one side & neg. on the other blew!(Voice Coils) What would cause this? I bridged my Phoenix Gold XS2500 and had the Sensitivity & Bass controls at about half way up! I hooked up the sub in Parrallel config. How can you blow the voice coils of a 1000W RMS Sub if you hook up 500W to it! Can someone explain! Also how can I get it fixed? Thanks

I installed 2 MB QUART 6" speakers 6 months ago in my front doors. I rescently heard a cracking noise coming from one of the front speakers in my integra (Left Door). When I removed the door panel the speaker stopped playing but if I apply a little pressure to the cone with my finger it starts plaing once more. Is it possible that the coils are faulty or is it something else.
