Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

Now this sounds stupid as fuck because if you read it wrong it'll sound like a useless thing to ask, but hopefully you'll know what I mean. It seems to me that larger woofers, or well, more cone area makes the bass sound rougher around the edges at high volume. Not like clipping, but not a pure smooth note like at lower volumes. It goes away a little with the door open so I can only assume it's the pressurizations effect? I like it but I don't know what to call it. I only notice it with lots of cone and sealed up, and mostly in SUV's. Not really a question but just curious if it's 10 years of shit speakers or i'm right. I think I'm right, my friend has BTL's and those are…

  7. i mapped out some EQ settings in a new box design. 9 cubic feet with a 32 hz tuning and 128 port area. Fi audio SP4 18 on a ZX2500.1 this is my first time ever looking into any EQ or using win isd to this level. im sure most of you will remember that my goal here is to get a flat responce curve with as few peaks as possible up into the 65hz range for the music i like. am i on the right track here? a gain of 3 db @ 65hz a static gain of 2db across the system a gain of 3db at 32hz a gain of -3.5db at 38hz a gain of 2db @ 50hz xover at 100hz sub sonic at 28hz air velocity is 20m/s impedance does not drop below 3.6ohm while inside of xover frequencies. max VA is 4KW …

same sub, same amps, same xover, same tuning, same port area. one box is 6 cubic feet and another box is 8 cubic feet. what will the audible difference be? i know the smaller box will require more power to move the same amount but aside from power handling does the ability to reproduce certain frequencies become effected?

so i have a box where the port is 30.25 wide and 3.5" tall from the face of the box back but when it bends the gap from the port to the back wall changes to 4.25". this was a build error where i put the second sheet of wood on the face of the main port as opposed to the end grain of the port. how will this effect my boxes tuning and port dynamics?

Guys I know just enough to get into trouble and looking for some advise. I've got 2 Fi btl n2 15's that are going to be sealed off from the trunk with a blow thru in the rear deck. Each sub is going to be ran at 1ohm with a Rockford t1500-bdcp amp. I've got 4 sets of Rockford T3 6.5" components and plan on running one set on each channel of my Rockford t800-4bdcp. My question is this..what freq should I cut the subs off at..where should my components pick up at..and are my components enough? Will they be loud enough? Will they go low enough? Thanks for any help you can offer.

  13. Hi guys, I have a very good deal on aDigital Design sub. It's a 9515, very cheap I've never heared any, in a correct box. I don't know how it will sound in a 3 to 3.5 ft3 ported box. That is what I can fit in the "trunk" of my Toyota auris. the Auris is like a little bigger Corolla hatchback 4 doors, with a very small hatch. I still have my 12" BTL n2, but I have a buyer...he's in the starting blocks, waiting to take it from me !!! Originally I was debating between an SSA Zcon and an AA Mayhem, but the DD9515 came and it costs "only" $300 locally ! I think I can't pass on this deal. My amp is a sundown saz1500. I saw some saz 2500 at db-r, but the DD is rated for 1…

So I'm about to build my second sub, but I'm stuck on which dustcap to use. I originally ordered the Carbon Fiber dustcap, but ended up getting the Poly dustcap as a freebie with an order I made. After placing it on the cone just to see what it looks like, I'm starting to wonder if the Poly dustcap actually looks better? What do you guys think? Go with the Carbon Fiber dustcap, or the Poly dustcap?

Ugh.... So I was keeping this SA-15 I had near my closet next to my TV, not in use just holding it as I'm trying to sell it. I'm sitting in the opposite side of the room on the computer when a screw and clamp supporting a shelf in my closet rips out of the wall, a loud popping sound that makes me turn around in surprise. Amazingly the shelf manages to still stay up. I go over to inspect and see the clamp on the far left is not on to well. I wiggle it slightly, BAM whole damn shelf comes crashing down along with everything that was on it. We are talking a 3 foot long shelf about 6 feet in the air. I had lots of heavy schoolbooks on it, I keep jeans on it, notebooks/folder…

I am debating about getting another sa 15 and building a new box, or just sell the sa 15 and put the money to a new zv.3 15. The box i currently have is 4.1cubic ft tuned to 32hz. My amp is an american bass ph4000md. I would just like other input from others to help make my decision.

  25. Hey guy, am putting together a system for my ride which is a 2003 dodge Dakota Ext. Cab. Am planning on running 2 12" sealed in a 2.5 cu.ft (Net) enclosure because am a big guy and I don't have the additional space to go ported. Am debating whether to go with the Incriminator Audio LI 12 or the Sundown SA-12. I will be running the Sundown SAX or SAZ 1200D amp. Am done with the Big 3 upgrade, and am using a UPS12-490MR battery to power my vehicle off of a stock alternator which is around 130 amp @ 3000 RPM, hopefully this will be enough to prevent dimming. I haven't had any subwoofer experience with any of the 2 brands mentioned but from what I have read, both drivers a…
