Subwoofers / Speakers

Anyone use any ribbon tweets? I have heard them in home but never seen them in a car audio application. Any have opinions?

Well, I was able to get a little more framework on the Z done today. Here's some pics. The PLs in the door. And I bet you think this is just an ashtray...... Well, lift it up and the little microswitch opens and POOF, no more subbass. Flip it down again, and the MAGNUM will breathe fire! Also had to work on an enclosure for some, BAH, JLs. A trio of 10W6s in 3 cubes @32Hz. Doesn't sound too shabby.

Do the 3" Legatia mids have grilles available? I need to find something to fill these holes left by the 3.5" DLS Ultimate Iridiums the previous owner had and these seem to be one of the only good fits

i was wonderin if i should get the diamond audio speakers or the type r's. any recommendations? i wont be usin a amp right away but ill get one like a month after i get the speakers. an i listen to rap.

Okay I just installed a pair of 12s in a ported inclosure and I get this popping sound coming from the sub. Today I was sitting there looking at them trying to figure out what was happening when the sun got down low enough and shone on the face of the sub, it was then that I saw the face of the sub pop out in the top corner, It just made a little bubble and created the popping noise. Has anyone ever seen this?????????????????

I have had weird issues off and on with my amp (teac 200.1) and my components( phoenix gold radials ran passively). little things like sounding muffled at start up in cold weather. I bought the amp on here a few years ago for $15, so no big loss. The other day i was involved in a fender bender and the power wire from the front battery to the back came undone. I didn't notice this until a few days ago. The tip off should have been that the sound deteriorated over the course of a week . Well lets get this part out of the way, I have a Dodge Magnum, and I'm currently running a FI Q 12 D2 with BP power in about 2.2^3ft at 31ish hz on a Sundown 1500d. I love the sound of my setup (listen to primarily rock), very happy with it, EXCEPT i want my cargo space back! For fun I had it metered and put down a 140.8 on the TL. Is anyone familier with an OZ Audio power 12.1 ? Can it really take the 4000 rms listed ? Sq ? spl ?

i have 2 morel dms-29 1-1/8 tweeters. what would be the difference in sound if i used a capacitor instead of running the speakers thru a crossover? does it affect the power it receives?

I remember reading that you can wire each voice coil of a sub to seperate channels of a two channel amp. Is there any advantage to this? Does an amp have an easier time running two channels at 2 Ohms than a bridged channel at 4Ohms? Would there be any sort of heat savings? Anything?

i was wondering if i would do any damge to any component of my system by using a dual 1 ohm sub, and a dual 2 ohm sub together? Also, for us dummys out here, what is the formula to figure the resistance when wiring like that? i know there is a way to get my resistance between 1 and 2 ohms that way, but might need a diagram, where could i find that?

I have a modded mojo 2500D on the way and I'm very interested in these subs. On paper they seem to be exactly what I want. If I get two the amp will be ran @ 0.5ohm with somewhere around 1700w per sub. I can only afford one for now so I will probably run it at 4 ohm. Could a single Havoc handle 3kw if I wired it at 1ohm? On a side note, I see alot of vented boxes with the port at one end and the sub(s) at the other end. I usually place the port between the subs in a dual sub setup. Is there any gain from porting at the end of a box?

Does anyone know if boston acoustic pro 60's are too deep to fit in kick panels in a large suv? What do you think about kick panels verses stock door speakers.

i want to get louder but im on a budget, so someone told me that i could recone my 15" Fi SSD to an 18".... how hard is this to do or am i required to send it off and get it changed? my amps turned on when i turn it on my sub turns on cuz it makes a thump .. Then when i play music it bearly moves.. it doesnt smell burned.. what is the problem? Jordan

I need to find a negative push terminal... The original wearer of said broken terminal was a diamond d1, I am not worried about it matching, unless Scott, or when I call heather at TC sounds will only sell them in sets. I snapped the terminal right off of the basket, but they are more of a bolt through design than actually being part of the basket.

Not a bad smell but just something strange; best I can describe it is the smell of a fresh built, just turned on computer. I would like some of you to rank these by clarity at high volume. Which are really designed to keep up with extreme bass with having to opt for Selenium, B&C, or Eminence. I'm thinking about doing 3 component sets for front stage? my sub smells i cant tell if it is smoking cuz it is in my trunk...i have a dual 4 type r...i think i fried a voice coil...it plays good..well it sounds good..but when i turn it up it smells horrible...i have the directed 1500d running to it at 2 ohms with the gain set at half and the bass eq off and it still does it with out a problem in the matter of minutes

So I've always noticed the impeadence/graph phases on most (good) subwoofer companies manuals, but I've never understood necessarily how they worked. Of course I know what impeadence and phase meant, but not too sure how it works on this graph (the frequency on the X axis, resistance on Y). To my understanding, it has to do with backpressure in the intended enclosure, so at the certain frequency where the resistance peaks that is where the backpressure in the enclosure its meant for peaks? And as for phase I guess thats just saying that 1 line is at 0 degrees and the other is at 180? But thats my guess whether its right or wrong the factor of backpressure? I've been getti…

My son is looking at buying a DCON-12 S4 for his car. He will have a Alpine MRP-M500 pushing the DCON. We want to build a ported box for the DCON. SSA says optimal ported box is 2.25 cu.ft tuned to 28-33 hz. I tried downloading the box design from SSA. I can get the google sketch picture, but not the other file. Can someone help me with the box dimensions?
