  3. Hi, I'm new to this. I never made a box before, so I'm trying to figure out how to make a ported box. I plan to get a dcon, but want to make sure I have the know how of how to make a box before pulling the trigger. I want to put it in 1.25 cu ft, tuned to 32hz, getting 400watts. What port area (not volume) should I be shooting for? I read somewhere that 8-12 sq in per cubic foot is good, which would put me at 10-15 sq in of port area, but I wasn't sure, so I figured I'd ask people that have personal experience what they recommend for this particular sub. Thanks

  8. For a fixed budget, aught I go 2- or 3-way? I was thinking that by going 3-way rather than 2-way you might be able to get a better overall balance between the differnt areas of the bandwith? Or would I be better off, just going with as good a 2-way system that I can for the same money? And for this front system (6,5" mid-basses), someone said that a 15" sub would be too large to integrate with just a pair of 6,5" mid-bass drivers. I have a WV Passat Variant (station wagon). I would have presumed that the integration was the key, rather than the size of the sub, I've seen that before, once, but I'd like some more opinions on the issue before I take a descision.

This might be a dumb question but i have been doing some research and cant find and exact awnser. My question is what (design & structure wise) makes a door speaker sound better than another one if the givin situations were all exactly the same. As in, for example, an Alpine Type S vs RE Audio XXX series.

I have two blown MA Audio MA83XE's (8 in. subs) and i completely took them apart finding out the the voice coil of course, was melted. I measured the diameter of the voice coil from gap to gap and its 1.5 inches, is it possible to make use of these old motors/basket? or are they completely done for? If anyone has good advice on what to do with them, your advice is much appreciated. Thanks

so i have a box where the port is 30.25 wide and 3.5" tall from the face of the box back but when it bends the gap from the port to the back wall changes to 4.25". this was a build error where i put the second sheet of wood on the face of the main port as opposed to the end grain of the port. how will this effect my boxes tuning and port dynamics?

Hello forum folks. I recently bought a pair of rockford 6.75s to throw in my rear deck of my Buick Park Avenue. Only problem I assumed they were 6.5s for which I had an adapter plate for to replace the factory 6x9s. I am willing to pay, but would anybody be able to make, preferably mdf, a 6x9 to 6.75 adapter?

I'll be running a pair of Z15's, I guess I listen to mostly rap, but I spend about half of my listening experience listening to virtually any other genre. Just looking for suggestions on what about I should tune the box to. I was thinking about 33hz, but now find myself second guessing as it comes closer to box building time. Thoughts/inputs/insults?

anyone know what 3 15" ID SPL's are worth? condition... function.. 2 work flawlessly, one needs reconed. when u flip it, u can hear something move internally..former, pole piece, something is dislodged. cosmetically... 1 of the working ones is in excellent shape 1 of the working ones is in decent shape, missing part of the cardboard outer gasket and there is a small tear (less then 1/2") in the surround. 1 that needs reconed is missing part of the outer carboard gasket all three stamped steel baskets, painted black. all three have double stacked magnets, the two that work have chrome topplates, the one that needs reconed has a black topplate. all are dual 2. lemme know..…
