  1. I only have a 4" hole in my door and i need to find a set of mids that will clear. Does anyone know how big the diameter of the magnet+ terminal is? My rainbow mid was exactly 4" and it barely cleared and my AA poly mids didnt clear at all. Heard good things about them and want to give them a try.

I have it hooked up, well I took it out of the car. I tried it on 2 different amps, one I KNOW is working at 1 ohm (hifonics 1200d) and my sub woudln't play. The Hifonics would immediately go into protect mode when the music started to hit the bass. The DMM says .7 ohm, maybe something is messed up. Here is how I have it wired: (it was originally this) But now come to think of it, I might have mixed it up, with the 1st postive and 2nd negative connecting to the positive output on the box. and then the 1st negative and 2nd positive connecting to the negative output on the box. I Don't know if thats what I did, but would either of the ways those were wired, do that to the…

I am either going to port my single maw i have now (3cf net tuned to 32 hz with 31sq ft of port area) or buy another maw and do 2 sealed at 3.5cf net , only no separate chambers. . there is a brace though . Which would be your choice? I want louder, but dont want to lack in sq. i would stuff the sealed box heavily to make up for the space. which do you "think" would be louder out of the 2 setups?

  6. Hello, I am buying a 15" Xcon for a friend of mine(he gives me the cash, it's really not a gift !!!). He builds enclosure for some shops around here. He has a 15" Kicker S15L7 in a 6 ft3 sealed enclosure with about 1300watts rms of power. It's the best sounding L7 I've ever heared : huge amount of bass, great low end notes,... How can he achieve that with the Xcon ? Would it be better with a sealed or a ported enclosure? Few people seems to use the Xcon in sealed boxes, how is the output in sealed boxes ? He has a little trunk, the 6ft3 enclosure takes all of it! We made some mesurements, and here is what he can afford now : 35cm*49cm*80cm or in inches : 14" * 19.6" * 32…

I run a 15" SSA Icon in a 4 ft3 ported enclosure, but I just have a round PVC port. I can see that most of the ported enclosures use beautiful "slot" ports (is it the good word ?). Those are more difficult to do, and you have to make it right the first time ! It's difficult to change them after. I want to know why do people use those ports? What are the advantages, comparing to simple and adjustable round ports? Sorry to bother with all these questions, but I am here to learn, and to run my sub correctly. BTW I love the sound of my sub with this enclosure, and I will try to tune it lower !!!

This might be a dumb question but i have been doing some research and cant find and exact awnser. My question is what (design & structure wise) makes a door speaker sound better than another one if the givin situations were all exactly the same. As in, for example, an Alpine Type S vs RE Audio XXX series.

  11. This is just a question out of curiousity. In the past I had a few different pair of sealed 12s. I have had Orion P12s, JL W3D4 12s and now SSA dcon 12s. IMO the dcon 12s don't get that loud sealed. The P12s & W3D4s I had were louder (I know the dcons may own either ported). Kicker subs also tend to be capable of getting loud sealed. What other pairs of 12 inch subs tend to get loud and sound good in the 500 watt power range sealed?

I am looking for a decent sq sub that also has spl that will work fine for a daily driver, prob is gonna be in a slot ported box made to specs by me. Doesn't matter how many watts its gonna be, I'm gonna buy the sub then buy a amp to match the sub, looking for 300-400 range for price. iI had some idea's like a BTL possibly? Not too sure with the higher end of subs because I use to run alpine, kickers, diamond audio, and jl audio and time to switch it up to the bad boys. Also another question what is a good hz for daily?

  13. Subwoofers work by moving air with the cone creating waves that move around in the box and create bass. But what really makes one subwoofer better than the other? Two different twelves for example. One low end one high end. Both have same cone area, both hit the same frequencies(lets assume). From my understanding all that really makes one better than the other is how much excursion it has. But that really can't be all can it? Sorry if this is a dumb question... I haven't been able to sleep lately:p

I have an Atomic APX 818 motor (3" coil/ newer motor with a bumped backplate). Needs a recone, anyone ever reconed one with different parts than atomic? I'm looking to build either a 15" or 18" that would do well on 1200wrms daily on music. (amp is an AQ1200D) If any dealers read this or anyone who can build me a recone feel free to send me a PM with a quote for both a 15 and 18. Looking for a loud daily sub. Dual 1.4 or similar coils preferably. Thanks!

I have decided the Sundown Audio SA series is what im going for. I need the best setup for what im doing but im not an expert, thats why I came here. The car: (not yet purchased) A new (or recently new) Dodge Charger My ideas: 2 SA-15s, 2 SA-12s, or 3 SA-10s (The 3 SA-10s are the last option on my list but il keep them in mind) The power: All off of a 1200 or 1500 RMS amp (I will have no other modifacations so I need to keep the power down) I bump daily, im careful about feeding to much power and i take care of my subs. I want SQ but im mainly going for SPL when i need it. What setup is best for me? Any questions about this just ask. I am unsure if I will port or go se…

So i had 2 l7 12s under my back seat... it was weak... so i took the backseat out and i told my buddy brian to build me a box (brian owns and manages evolutiuons car audio Lone Grove, OK) but anyways, i was expecting a huge box, instead he said 2 ported boxes at 3.3 cub would create the loudest setup at all possibilities. ill be pushing the l7s with a kicker 1500.1 zx. how loud am i looking? as far as DB wise... and was his plan correct??

So what should i do first get 2 good front speakers and an amp to power them. or go with the subwoofer and amp, then later if i dont like how it sounds upgrade the front component speakers?

  22. Ok I bought an rd sonance last year for my girls car. I didn't install it for 3 4 weeks after recieving it. After maybe a week of playtime it started cutting out and if I pushed on the cone it'd start back up so I figured it was a bad tinsel lead. Then one side of the coil died off completely so I ran it on one coil for awhile and it was fine until we decided to introduce it to a wall socket lol. Now I have a rd super paper weight lol.. Is it worth a recone or should I just sell the motor n basket if possible?
