Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Started by Showdown,

So here's the lowdown, I have a 93 Subaru legacy sedan and I'm looking for a sub and an amp.About 70% of what i listen to is metal, and the other 30% is mostly dubstep with a bit of rap thrown in on the rare occasion.Basically i want something that will sound good with the double bass and fast bass lines in metal, but still have some thump for dubstep.Looking to keep it under $400 for both.I've been seriously considering a dcon 12,but i saw a vendor selling an open box sa-12 in the classifieds.I'd like some good sq but in not an audiophile, if it will sound good with music I'd be more than happy.

I was looking for some ppls 2 cents on a set up choice. the setup will be a 12" RE SE in a 3cu ft. box @ 33 hz powerd by a kicker 400.1 Just wondering if this will be a good combo. Its goin in the back of a f-150 by the way. Looking for good lows while not sounding like poop. I have had the sub for a lil bit now but am finaly putting it back in my car, last time it was in a 2cu foot box @ 34hz and only got about 200 rms. Hoping by adding more power and a bigger box it will sound better. Thanks

I recently purchased a pioneer double din touch screen head unit for my system which works pretty damn good. I have type r coaxial speakers running my interior speakers strapped to a hifonics 400 watt amplifier. For the subs I am running 2 12 inch pioneer pro series subs strapped to an hifionics 2000 watt mono block amp. I am running straight auxiliary inputs from the back of the head unit because i simply use 2 amps. All of a sudden today everything put out nothing but static. I disconnected it because I could not find out what the issue was and this is the second time it has happened. It happened with my previous pioneer head unit which was a single din flip face …

Well guy's I would like some opinions on my next set of subs. I tend to lean towards sq but I still want some subs they can get loud and go low and rumble with the best of them. I would like to use the same enclosure that I had with my 2 12" ID MAX's, it is a sealed enclosure with a common chamber and 1.3^3 ft. of airspace per sub before displacement. I have the following two amps available to me; Ampman Revo 1500.1 and a Audio Art 100HC. I'll be using one and selling the other, opinions and reasons for them would be appreciated. If it matters at all it will be going into the trunk of my 2004 nissan maxima. The other components of my system are: Alpine CDA-9835 JL 300/2 A…

  8. I have a RF T500-1bd and I want to try one of these pairs of 10s ported. My girlfriend bought my sealed dcon 12s off me for a great price! Please correct me if I'm wrong, the size of a ported enclosure determines how efficient it will be? I'm going to throw of one these in 1.5 cubes each chamber tuned to 33hz - 34hz. If you've had experience with either of these subs I'de love your input. Is anyone able to tell which of these would be louder? This is the last time I'm going to ask this, I'm either choosing one or the other due to which ever gets more votes.

I asked this same question on CA.com and jmac was the only person who helped me out. http://www.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=94643 that's the link to the page I asked the question at. Scroll to the bottom where I asked about EBP and QTS because I still don't know which to look at. You'll understand once you read the question, thanks.

former owner of 2 10 jl audio w3v2 subs under the back seat of my f150 super cab. Overall I was not too happy with the output of these subs. I need another pair to throw under my back seat and I was considering the rl-i10 or 8. Wasnt sure on yalls thoughts on this/ have yall heard this set up before? My goals are for more spl then the jls and im alright sacrificing some sq for it. current amp is a memphis st-1000d 1 ohm stable at 1000 watts, however I can get a new amp so thats not really an issue, even though these subs match up great with that amp! any other recomendations are greatly needed, ive been without bass for about 10 months now.

Ok, lets dispell some myths about speakers. I figured we could have a small list of the different ways you could "blow" a speaker and have a little technical explanation to go with it. I also want to talked about clipped and unclipped signals and thier effects on a speaker. Ways to blow a driver 1. Degrading of materials This one is plain and simple. Speakers get old. Typically when a speaker gets old the surrounds go first, especially in stock speakers. most surrounds are made of a foam or rubber and time, heat, sunlight (common in dash mounted speakers) cause the materials to degrade, and then when you play them again they fall apart. 2. Thermal Limits of a driver When …

Got a new vehicle, so its time to upgrade the sound system. Vechicle is a BMW 750i. The stock Logic7 system sounds better than I excpected, but the "subwoofers" under the front seats seem to be more like mid-woofers. I listen to mostly rap and R&B. I was thinking a single 12 or a couple of 10's sealed, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm also not brand biased....I'm just looking to get away from mainstream subs. I'm not building an SQ system or anthing, but I want a balanced sounding system. My goals: 1. Add some low end punch to complement the mids and highs without overpowering them. 2. Maintain some usable trunk space 3. Not destroy my car....(last system …

Just getting back from a deployment and there are alot of new stuff out there so... I'm looking into getting a pair of 10s. I was looking at the IDQ and IDMAX but since I got to this forum I'm seeing sundown and ssa as well as some other's. I already had a box built to hold the IDQs but right now I'm running two american bass dx 10s which by the way for 35 a piece I'm rather impressed with them to say the least. What would you guys suggest. Right now I have a choice of running between 900-1700 rms and the box I have I think has 1.5 cuft per chamber...

I was wondering for those of you who own this particular sub, what kind of enclosure do you have it installed in? I'm considering porting it. DLS recommends sort of a high tuning. I'm thinking tuning it to the low 30s. I don't want to have any peaks in the response, so I want it to tune a bit lower than what DLS recommends (or should I just stick with their suggestion?)

If i were to run 4 Level 3 15s, i have some competition questions about them. I do like that they have a 3" coil by the way Ok anyway, i plan on running a 3500d per PAIR of Level3s if i went with them. For daily, it wouldnt be that much, just for comp. Under heavy excursion- What will happen first- Bottom out or tinsel lead snapping? During music play, will there be tinsel lead slapping? Under heavy overpowering- When running a 3500d on a pair of Lvl3s, i know this may be hard to answer, but what should i expect if i run a 30sec average on music with these at that power level... and probably clipped if i still hadnt reached xmech yet... I am starting to build a system for my car and I need some help and opinions on what to run. I want something that is incrediably loud but can be listened to everyday. I was looking at maybe 2 15 SSA XCONS or 2 15" FI BTL'S. Not really worried about the cost. I have plenty of time to get everything and in the military so deployment money helps buy the stuff. i will be upgrading the electrical system as well when I do this. Its all goin into a 2002 monte carlo. Has a lot of room in the trunk. I can run upto a 10 cubic foot box. thanks for the help
