  2. I just made a ported box, and the recessed terminal cup i bought at my local shop looks pretty hard to install - the back of it is a rounded rectange. is it ok to just drill a small hole for my speaker wire in the back of the box and fill it with silicon caulk? im worried this will just make it leak terribly...

I'm looking to upgrade my stock system, just something simple this time. I'm keeping the factory HU, which has pretty good output, and I have a JL 300/4 that will match (needed balanced differential inputs on the amp to match the factory HU). Now, I'm thinking about the speakers. I want to do components in the front, and ignore everything in the back for now. I'll run the setup active using all 4 channels from the 300/4. The car is an 06 Acura TSX, and I'll keep the components in the stock location, which means up to 6.5" woofers in the doors, and tweets on the dash (stock fires into windshield). At this point, all I need to figure out is the speakers. I want to ke…

Hello, I am currently in the market for a sub woofer box for a Fi audio X 12 sub woofer. I have been trying to get the specs right with RE audio calculator but it seems I am in need of help. I have room for a H 14" x W 22" x D 22" sub box. I want it to be ported and tuned @ 33Hz I will be powering it with a amp that pushes 500w @2 ohms. Thank you for all of your help. Link to the Sub. http://store.ficaraudio.com/x12/ I plan to make it out of MDF.

Could someone please explain how these work. I know of the advantages of sealed and ported over eachother but where do these fall in?

I've been trying to figure out some theoretical expectations from a few subs using Winisd. I want to use a sealed enclosure, but I can't figure anything out with the SSD (12 inch Dual 2 ohm) until I know the higher qts. Does anyone know what it is? Hopefully I'm not being dumb and just can't find it.

Need some new coaxial for mty tahoe. I am stuck between RE Audio RE.6.5FR, Rockford Fosgate T162C, or the Kicker 08KS600. Which one is the best out of the three. Thanks in advance.

So here's the lowdown, I have a 93 Subaru legacy sedan and I'm looking for a sub and an amp.About 70% of what i listen to is metal, and the other 30% is mostly dubstep with a bit of rap thrown in on the rare occasion.Basically i want something that will sound good with the double bass and fast bass lines in metal, but still have some thump for dubstep.Looking to keep it under $400 for both.I've been seriously considering a dcon 12,but i saw a vendor selling an open box sa-12 in the classifieds.I'd like some good sq but in not an audiophile, if it will sound good with music I'd be more than happy.

Hey guys, I have an s10 with a FI BL fully loaded 10" and a sundown 1500D on it. I have an alpine CDA-7893 HU, with polk audio coax speakers in the door and dash. I have already put sound deaden-er in the doors. What I'm asking is what amp and component speakers would you guys go with in an s-10. The door speakers are 6.5" I recently took out my sub and amp from my truck and I'm loving the leg room back. So whatever I get out of selling them is what cash I will have to put into a new component set. Im thinking 330 shipped for the amp, and I'm not sure on the sub yet. I'll probably go with buying a used 125.2 amp, or maybe something different. Would you guys go active o…

I currently have 3 JL 10w0's in a sealed box running of a infinity amp that puts out 600rms at 2 ohm. I want a louder system but i dont' have enough money to buy a new amp and the JL's just arent cuttin it. I was thinking about getting a mach 5 mj 18 and putting it in a ported box. Does anyone know this set up will work good with my current amp and be louder than the JL's?

I was wondering for those of you who own this particular sub, what kind of enclosure do you have it installed in? I'm considering porting it. DLS recommends sort of a high tuning. I'm thinking tuning it to the low 30s. I don't want to have any peaks in the response, so I want it to tune a bit lower than what DLS recommends (or should I just stick with their suggestion?)

Hello, I have a friend that just had his sub and amp removed in a unfriendly way from his 2000 Toyota Tundra access cab. He is thinking about putting a new one back in but not visible this time. he was told by a local shop they had a console that could replace his that would have a ten in it. they would of course rape him on the price of that and the install price. I looked around and so far can only find a dual eight under the back seat box. Does anyone have ideas what could work or any other suggestions. He is not proficient with fiberglass or installing. I will do the install but I do not have the time to do a comprehensive install that will take days to do. thanks in…

  17. So I wanted to ask some questions about XCON's. How much wattage can these things handle? I'm looking at buying two 12 inch XCON's for my second sound system ever. Last one was stolen, but since then I have a viper alarm and a bunch of other safety stuff. But anyways, I just wanted to know a little more about them since on the website it doesn't really say how much they can handle. Also, one of the package deals on the website for a 12 XCON with a Sundown amp, is the XCON a 1 ohm or 2 ohm sub in that combo? And can that amp power two of the XCON's? Or would it need to of those amps? I would greatly appreciate these being answered.

Hey. I'm looking at getting 8 of the E8's powered by a Sundown SAZ-3000 in a ported box. What size should the box be I am installing them in a 96 cutlass trunk? Also is tuned to 32hz a good freq? Lastly, If i have the box built right and powered right, can I expect good SPL and SQ? I know nothing about these subs so help would be greatly appreciated!

Just received my 2 12" zcon's today that I purchased from brownm3. They look gigantious compared to the kickers, lol. They are in super awesome shape and stiff as hell. Super excited and hopefully can get these in this weekend if I can make it to get the batt. Very easy transaction and a big thanks to brownm3 for the sale.

I just bought a 2011 Mazda 3 and since I just bought it tonight I haven't had much time to really search everything out about the car but from what I found online it looks like it has 5 1/4" speakers which I know there is two speakers in front doors and two in the back, i'm not sure about the rear deck or any tweets around the dash, which I will check tomorrow when I get a chance, but anyways I was wondering if there is anyway to fit a 6.5" speaker in the 5 1/4"? Should I just get two front speakers or two fronts and two rears since they'll be in the doors, which I do plan on amping them? I know this is all personal opinion, but I mainly listen to metal, but I also listen…

What is the difference. Everybody is writing about it. I have a pair of Focal 165 vrs and a pair of 130cvx's in stock locations running with a sax 100.4 so what would be the difference between active and passive. I haven't gotten them installed yet but next week they will be so.

Hey everyone, new member but I've been lurking for awhile searching for a solution to my bass needs but figured it would be smarter just to tell everyone my situation and get some personal opinions. SO, I'm looking for a single or dual sub/amp setup for my passat and i want to spend no more than $600 on it. What I'm used to: In my s-10 extended cab i have a 10" type r (swr 1042) powered by a 400w rms pioneer and a 12" MTX square (ts85) powered by a 975w rms kenwood amp. The type r is in a .5^3 sealed box and the mtx is in a 1.6^3 vented box tuned to 35hz or so. I enjoy what i have in the s10, works well for dubstep and all flavors of rock which is mostly what i list…
