I know it was mentioned in the "mag 15 pored for SQ" topic but I thought it deserved its own thread. Has anyone tried this or does anyone know of a good tutorial to make a transmission line box? Beyond being fairly large are there any other drawbacks to using them in a car?

I've had my 2 12" magnums for quite some time now and still haven't set them up. I'm pretty close to it though, now that my alternator is here. Anyways, I have questions regarding enclosure size. I can fit a 2 cf box in my trunk with enough room to spare, but after sub displacement, this gives only 1.6 cf (0.8 per sub) right? Is this good enough? Will there be big difference between 1 cf after displacement per sub and 0.8 cf? Most people seem happy with 1 cf, but I don't know if that is before or after displacement. Each one will be getting like 600 watts from a PG tantrum 1200.1 amp. If I need more volume, I might just port one and sell the other one, or use it …

okay i dont know about the rest of you, but i love hearing stories about how 'x' sub blew my friends away or my co-workers. the 'x' sub in this case will definitely be the magnum. so just post what you have accomplished or what other people have said after hearing it. i'll start. yesterday was the first time i've really let anyone see/hear my 15'' mag. the first words out of my friend's mouths were "holy chit that thing is massive". then they were all that thing moves soooo damn fast it's crazy! i've never seen a sub move faster than that. good stuff. post away people!

  9. ok here is my system: the head unit is a pioneer premier 750. the low/mid/high is all set to 0. bass is set at 0. sub control is set at 50 hz. and the level is + 6. my amp is a pg tantrum 1200.1 i'm using to push 2 12's in a 3.8 ft^3 box after sub and port displacement tuned to 30 hz. the bass on the amp is set to 0. x-over is down around 50 hz. i can only turn the gain up about 1/5 up and i hear terrible distortion. if i keep the gain all the way down and turn up the headunit a littl i get terrible distortion. i have my rca cable run on the opposite side of the power wire. these subs don't get loud at all before they distort. my 6.5's get louder than these wit…

Well I got bored and decided to rip apart a sub to compare with a Magnum. Here's what a pretty regular 12" speaker (rated at 400 watts I think) looks like beside ours:

Hey guys, new to the forum. I never heard kicker until my cous got his 2 12' L5s in a 4 cubed dual vented enclosure (not sure what its tuned at). The subs are on one side and the vents on the other. He runs 500 watts and is loud. His system destroys my dual 12' Type Rs in a 3 cubed enclosure with a 5x5x11 square port tuned to 38hz. His system is the loudest I ever heard and is my standard for loudness I guess.... LOL I basically need louder and have the funds to do it just trying to figure out what I want. I have 4 cubes internal space maybe 4.5 if i'm lucky in my hatch. Would 4 cubes be to small for a pair of 12' L7s? How about a single 12 or 15 in 4 cubed box …
