Which would have deeper and louder bass, which would you choose? I just can't decide on which subs to choose. Either would be in a ported enclosure, also will a 15" sub respond fast enough for classic rock music? Thanks.

Hi everyone. 1st, here's a quick view of my current setup. Ride: 2000 Silverado ext cab. HU: Pioneer Premier Frt: Infinity 6.5 components Rear Fill: Polk 4x6 in factory locations Frt Amp: Soundstream Van gogh 320.4 (currently only using half)(considering the other half for 8" midbass in a front console) Sub Amp: Soundstram Van gogh 800.2 Subs: 2 Arc Audio 10d4 under rear seat (sealed) I want to change from 2 10's to 1 12" I'm really pleased with the SQ of the Arc's, though I would prefer more output. I've been heavily leaning towards either the ID Max 12d2 or Diamond D9. I've just heard, from this forum, about other possible options from Fi, Si, SSA, TC sounds, etc., (le…

So I just moved my Pioneer sub into my BMW 328i. Same enclosure, same amp. New power/ground wires, new rcas, new speaker wire. The headunit is BMWs factory and the amp is getting signal from a LOC that is connected to the BMWs factory amplifier. The subwoofer does NOT sound the same anymore as expected. But the problem is that its not close to as loud as it was on the expedition. They told me the BMW has a well-sealed trunk, could this be the reason why Im somehow not feeling the bass anymore? I also had to lower the gains a bit (from what I had it on the expedition) and the sub gets hot faster and my trunk has been getting that burning smell constantly since I installed …

Hey all. I was hoping you all could help me compare and contrast a couple different subs. I’m not going to ask which is better, I’ll make that decision. Just want some input on where each sub may have its strong points, weak points, etc. speaker size is 15”. Amp rms rated power is 2750 at 1 ohm. But after rise etc etc you get the idea. Enclosure will be 3 cu ft ported with about 50 sq in of port. Subs are as follows 1. Sundown Z v.3 2. SSA XCON 3. SSA ZCON So not really looking for someone to help me pick a sub just to tell me any experiences they may have had with these subs, especially if you've used both and any thoughts, suggestions, concerns you may have. Thanks al…

after much frustration, a blown amp, and unnecessary investments...my system is finally working...it consists of 2 maw 15s running off a viper 1200.1d, some nextar canadian tire deck, cerwin vega components, infinity rears(now blown, heheh)....i am amazed with it...with a very conservative gain setting, no bass boost or equalization it absolutely pounds, and blends fairly well with the speakers...ive heard alot of bad things about 15 inch subs being muddy and undefinined...but hot damn the maws sound sharp, just as crisp and punchy as a pair of 10s imo...i have yet to actually listen to the system at its full potential, as i blew the rear speakers and im going to put new …

I know a lot of you have been VERY VERY eager about the status on the up coming batch of 15's and the overall status on the potential for 8" drivers in the works.... News of both will be short coming and very very exciting...Whether it be Nick, or any of his representatives including myself, we will do THE VERY BEST to make sure you guys get wind of this info ASAP....plenty of room on any sort of pre-order or waiting list...no need to panic.... This is just a reminder that you guys don't NEED to post threads or email SI all the time about stuff...as soon as we know...you'll know...I am even more excited to hear news..and I'm doing my best to make sure you guys hear it ver…

Ok first off if you haven't heard them, don't flame please. I'm just wondering if I should get these, cause I'm going to buy these door panels that originally had a set of these in them (abc6003q I think)...and as all of you know, I'm going for loud so please don't flame like in all my other threads! IF(notice the if) I run these, ill get 2 sets, 2 6.5s and 1 4" in each door, and 1 4" in each kick, along with 1 set of tweets, and the other set of tweets will go in the dash. If I don't run these, should I just run 4 sets of 6.5" components? If so, what are some good brands/models that will get ungodly loud? Not looking to spend a ton, as I'm not going for sq as you all kno…

So I just bought a RD 2200.1 on the pre-sale on **** and I wanted to get 2 Alpine type R 15's for it. I think I might be pushing it with these subs because the amp supposedly does 2800 rms @ 14.4 volts and does rated at 10.8 volts!!! Now I have seen some videos of 2 Type R 15's being pushed by a sundown 3K, Autotek MM 3000.1, and even an AB VFL 500.1. Do you guys think I will be o.k with these subs being pushed daily like this. I plan to tune the box to around 30 hz. Also what size box should I make?

  14. Hello guys, I am looking to put together a system with one 10 inch driver in a ported box for my mustang. I am looking for something with around 1500 watts rms, long throw excursion with 30mm or greater xmax. These are the choices that i have found and liked so far: Sundown x10 Sundown z10 Tantric Sounds hd10 I seen some others like ssa xcon 10 but it is still based on the old style basket and spider setup and while it has an xmax of 31mm, Jacob of Sundown said that these older designs reach xmax and xmech at the same time whereas the new styles like the x,z and tantric subs are designed with way more throw built in so over excursion wont damage the woofer to an exten…

I want to get rid of my factory speakers, at least the front ones for now (in the future, ill get another pair for the rear). I originally intended to go for the alpine type X, but then started digging more choices and ended up with a few recommendations. These included image dynamics, diamond audio, and the alpine type x themselves. Now, I have heard the Image dynamics are REALLY GOOD. Easy choice over the type X. And the diamond audio are just too much ($650 for a pair of speakers are not attractive to me, sorry thats just way over the line). So basically I have narrowed it down to image dynamics. They will run passive (for now), but later I will be using a SAX-100.4 to…

So I have a 2007 Honda Accord Coupe. I am looking to get a 12'' Lethal Injection and I am looking for a sub box. I was looking on the Fisher Custom site but that is out of my price range. I was hoping that this one I found on SonicElectronix would be good. If someone could please help me out it would be much appreciated. I will ask my other question here so I don't make an extra post. Like stated above I want to get a 12'' Lethal Injection and I was wondering what would be a good amplifier to get? I was looking at a Sundown Audio but I guess the prices were just raised? That or the 1000 watt was taken off of this website? If someone could help me out it would be much ap…

okay, so i got my XXX 15 in a couple days ago, i had it in there good running off my viper, 1 problem, is my SX moved more than my XXX does, so i thought maybe the XXX needs more power, or maybe it hasnt broken in yet, so i got my PA a3000db in, this adds in more problems, for some reason the amp isnt doing something right or i havent set the "extra complicated" 3 knobs, wow you match the gain which i did 1800 x 1 then square root it comes out to 42.4v, so i set it there, but it isnt as loud as the viper was hardly, its not really much louder if any, but the lowend is gone and for some reason i have more midbass now, so wtf, it used to hit some notes with my viper, but wi…

My next setup is going to consist of a single 12" driver in a Khaotik ported enclosure. My question: As far as output goes, not SQ by any means, which is better suited for my situation? A Fi SSD 12" or an SSA ICON 12"? The sub will be seeing around 1500 watts, probably not the full 1500 but that's about RMS on the amp. I'm looking for strictly output. I have all electrical necessary for the setup. It's just that after shipping, these 2 subs are about the exact same price, and same RMS rating. Just needing input, on the output of them lol. Thanks ahead, -Shag

hmm i got some info today about ported boxes. I was thinking about using a ported box and porting the bass into my cabin. Well... it turns out all the port itself does is boost and PLAY the frequency it is tuned to, and the majority of the bass still comes from the front wave of the sub. so if i tune the box to 31 hz and i stick the ports into the cabin into the cabin i will hear boom boom boom BOOM boom BOOM the "BOOM" being the frequency the port is tuned to and it will overwhelm rest of the bass. i think thats why spl people like to upfire the ports into the cabin. any comments?

The wife has a pair of Braxton Audio tower speakers in her work out room. These speakers are lacking in low end output and the wife asked if I could add a sub woofer to her system. She uses her system for watching movies, TV, and listening to music. I have a retired pair of 12" Shiva sonotubes that haven't been used since I built my pair of IXL-18's. Long story short, both Shiva tubes have a "clicking" sound when demands are put on them. I modeled the IXL-12 in 3.5 cu.ft., the net volume of the Shiva tube, and it looks good. IXL-12 arrives. Original Shiva sonotubes. IXL-12 and 3.5 cu. ft. tube. Removal of 12" Shiva. Comparison of Shiva and IXL-12. I remember paying $…
