Somehow i just discovered that the tweets are blown in my door speakers. Right now i have american bass SQ coaxials in there and i was thinking about going with their component line. The closest i have found to match the components that AB has are the pro series sm16-90 from soundstream. I have the amp to power them but wanted to know how they would sound in my doors, i have plenty of highs and bass to compliment more mids.

  6. A while back I ordered a custom recone kit going from a single 2 to a dual 2 coil, and I was wondering if there would be any noteable increase in power handling, Mms, and efficiency as well as a lowering in Fs since there will be double the coil... but I think i was mostly told not enough to be note worthy. Later on I painted the cone, and suddenly I was being told I would totally mess up the drivers SQ and SPL by adding mass and making the cone stiffer (obviousely mostly by noobs and tards) Anyway, Exodus Audio's GEN II Maelstrom-X came out. Basically the only change was going from a single 4 to a dual 2 coil. The added coil length was enough that they changed the power …

Im going to upgrade my amps with a Soundstream Reference 500sx for the sub and a Zapco Ag 360 for the components. Considering to upgrade to a single 10 or 12 for now in a sealed enclosure(i can make myself), looking for sound quality, something that makes your chest rumble at the same time. $300 shipped is my budget Rli-10, Rlp-12, 10w3v3, 12w3v3, IDQ 10 & 12, Re sex 10 &12, Fiq 10 & 12, Icon 10 & 12 these some subs had in mind. And do you think a sealed enclosure would match the type of car i have, any suggestions and opinions will help very much. Thanks alot!!!!

I just picked up a 04 crossfire, and have setteled for two tens. I found a box that is .42 x 2, that will face the rear. I haven't went speaker shopping since the mid 90's. I'm used to two 12 inch hollywoods, in a small box for mustangs, with a bazooka 700w amp. almost enough to vibrate your eyes. With a budget in mind, what should I look into? brands, versions, amp???? any suggestions, thanks chris

  13. Hello, I am buying a 15" Xcon for a friend of mine(he gives me the cash, it's really not a gift !!!). He builds enclosure for some shops around here. He has a 15" Kicker S15L7 in a 6 ft3 sealed enclosure with about 1300watts rms of power. It's the best sounding L7 I've ever heared : huge amount of bass, great low end notes,... How can he achieve that with the Xcon ? Would it be better with a sealed or a ported enclosure? Few people seems to use the Xcon in sealed boxes, how is the output in sealed boxes ? He has a little trunk, the 6ft3 enclosure takes all of it! We made some mesurements, and here is what he can afford now : 35cm*49cm*80cm or in inches : 14" * 19.6" * 32…

Simple question, i'm thinking about installing my component set today (finally) and i'm about to check to see if i can make a baffle board or if i need to do rings. either way, i know i have to make the MDF waterproof and i planned on using resin. Now, when making my box, i was told not to put the speaker in the box for 24 hours because the fumes from silicon sealants are known to eat away speakers. Is this true with resin? I ask because i would really like to get them running today, but i also don't want to ruin $250 worth of speakers. Looking for a quick response!! Either way i'm letting the Resin cure, but as soon as it does, will it be safe for speakers?? Thanks to a…

  21. My idea, 25Hz tapped horn using Kicker CVXs, was stolen by Kicker, by Deon screen name dB-Kicker. I didn't do any of this design work or build, it was just an idea, but an idea shared between 2 men in private messages. Since my private message turned into a very public build, I took it upon myself to do the same...share private message information. I made a comment/reply in his thread about it, he ignored it and sent me 3 PMs confirming guilt. I gave him a day to reply, then started my own thread. It was ignored, then deleted, so here you go! I just got a Fi Q12, running 1000watts from a memphis 16-PRD, and i really need new front speakers, from the stocks. Since the bass is so powerful, i need something that will blend well with the sub. I have a 2007 honda accord V6 EX-L. I am looking for a set up that will sound fluent and smooth with the sub. I am looking to spend around $400 for an amp and a pair of speaker. Do i need anything else to get the front speakers working, (Rewiring, new cables, anything?). because i am on a budget and i really want my setup to sound good.

I've heard people changing sizes of the sub when they do a recone, so I guess my question is how? Don't you need the correct basket size or can you recone a 15 or 18" basket into a 12"?
