I'm doing a bit of work on my front stage in my 03 mazda and need some ideas on what drivers I should uses for pillars. I built door panels that house rockford P1652-S components running off my old Pioneer GM6000f rms 125watts per side. Sound is crazy clean but I want a bit more. So, I've got plans for building some new pillars that will either house some coaxials or components. I've got a new VIBE DEATHBOXS4-V1 that will rms125watts x 4 channels. idealy, I want to run my P1652-S's and whatever i put in the pillars off the VIBE and my rear speakers (cheap coaxials from princess auto) off the Pioneer. SO: For 125 watts rms, what should I use in pillars? coaxials or compone…

Anyone care to look into the crystal ball and tell me where we will be at in 5+ years for subwoofers? Back Story: I own a near mint 10w7 and a 13w7 in pro wedge box. I'm deciding on selling a lot of my equipment (locally) because I've upgraded (Crescendo 3500) BUT I KNOW in about 5 years time, when I buy a different car, I will be "starting over" and probably starting small - 1k setup. And because I'm nearly giving this stuff away, I'm beginning to wonder, do I store it and use it 5 years from now because I'm saving a few hundred dollars ... or get rid of it, even at a few hundred-dollars loss in hopes that equipment is going to be EVEN BETTER in 5+ years? Besides my iss…

  5. So i was thinking of selling my 21 warden and goin with a new setup. I thought either 2 18s, 4 15s, or 6 12s but im thinkin 4 15s would be cheaper than the 12s and louder than the 2 18s. I have a 2003 trailblazer and i want to wall it at c pillar while keeping my back seats. I currently have a Crescendo bc2k wired to .5 ohm and i want 4 D4s so i can wire to 2 ohms when i get another bc2k. Id like to put 3k rms to all 4 when all set and done. The thing i need help with is deciding which subs would fit me best. I listen to rap/ hip hop mostly but also country and dance music too. I would want the tuning to be around 34hz. I have around $700 to play with but id go more if i …

More times than not, I see people on Youtube with an extra battery in the trunk instead of having a better alternator. Isn't this just pointless? You can hold more juice, but if you can't replenish it faster than you use it, what's the point of 2 batteries? The only thing I can think of is that it's better because you can charge both batteries when your system isn't playing. Just for me I always have my bass on when I drive so this seems weird to me. EDIT: Another thing that gets me. I have 900RMS and my headlights dim, meaning I may have to replace the alternator and battery which costs hundreds. How do people have 3000RMS and just upgrade their battery? I feel like for…

Hey all. I was hoping you all could help me compare and contrast a couple different subs. I’m not going to ask which is better, I’ll make that decision. Just want some input on where each sub may have its strong points, weak points, etc. speaker size is 15”. Amp rms rated power is 2750 at 1 ohm. But after rise etc etc you get the idea. Enclosure will be 3 cu ft ported with about 50 sq in of port. Subs are as follows 1. Sundown Z v.3 2. SSA XCON 3. SSA ZCON So not really looking for someone to help me pick a sub just to tell me any experiences they may have had with these subs, especially if you've used both and any thoughts, suggestions, concerns you may have. Thanks al…

I've been doing a lot of reading and searching and I was hoping I could get some additional help. Is there a classification chart as to which SSA subs are deemed "sq" or "spl"? Is it simply the way that they are installed that makes them better geared towards one type of sound? Also, with the greater power handling subs is the "type of sound" the same or as power increases so does deepness, loudness, etc? For example: Dcon - low power sq sub Gcon - mix of sq/spl at medium power Icon - higher powered sq sub Xcon - ultimate high power sq sub Zcon - balls out, no frills spl sub I know my review and thoughts maybe a bit elementary but please feel free to chime in and corr…

Are amplifiers really needed for these speakers? I have coaxial speakers that replaced my factory ones. My factory ones were 25RMS and my new ones are 60RMS in the front, and 65RMS in the back. They crank up really loud and they are in the factory locations with the factory wiring. I think they sound amazing, but I always hear about amplifiers for these mids & highs. Are they needed?

  18. Browsing around at a pawn shop around town and i came across this sub hidden in a corner. Owner wanted $90 for it talked him down to $70 lol. So now i'm trying to find any specs or t/s parameters on it just out of curiosity. I have already emailed MMATS. Anyone have any experience with this sub? Im assuming it's rather old by the looks of it.

  19. Hi guys, I currently have two regular pioneer 10" shallow mount subs in the back of my dodge ram. i was planning on upgrading to the the premium pioneer 10"s ( the s4 model) this friday. I have a rocksford fosgate r500 d series amp. the old subs run at around 200-250 rms i belive, and the new ones would run at 300 rms. my amp pushes out 500 raw rms. i am not sure ( despite what they told me at the aduio shop) wether or not my amp will be enough to properly power the new subs. The guy says whenever he does a system with the preium pioneers he uses the r500 amp. However, i'd hate to upgrade only to see a minimal change in performance. does anyone have any kind of experience…

  21. I like being able to comfortably fit two golf bags & pull carts in my trunk. A free air install in the rear deck would allow me to retain the vast majority of my cavernous trunk. Having only played with the idea in a large enough wall enclosure that it may as well have been free-air, I'd like to hear experiences. It wouldn't be a huge loss to tuck a 1.5' box in the trunk, so if infinite baffle is more trouble then it's worth, please say so. TIA Nick woofer specs: FS: 47hz Qts 0.593 Qes 0.635 Qms 8.935 Vas 3.34L Wrms 500 The suspension & motor control are strong. I know what BassBoxPro says, I also know its incredibly outdated, thank you though.

After I get moved into my new house, and have some cash again. I'd like to get a sub back in my truck. I've been waiting for the Audiomobile's to pop up, but I'm not sure when they will be available and may actually cost more than I want to spend, since the AE X's will probably never be around again, I'm trying not to spend more than 300 on a 12/15, but I will if the right sub comes along. I'm hoping you guys can help point me in the direction of a sub. I have some specs in mind that seem to be what I'm looking for or close too. But, I don't have enough information on the subs I've been looking at. What I'm looking for is a sub that is efficient, accurate, has great sq…

I have had my ascendant havoc 12 for about a month. Recently I decided that it was broken in enough to see what it could do. I set my gains again, this time with the dd-1, but when I turn the volume up a little it sounds like it is bottoming out. I have a t1500-1bdcp that's rated at 1900 Watts rms at 1 ohm. I thought for sure that the havoc would take that much power and not bottom out. Could the noise be something else? or is it really maxed out?

I'm looking to get a nice build going for my '02 GMC Envoy. I just replace the junk factory radio today with a Pioneer AVH-P8400BH and also decided to pick up a ND-BC5 back up camera. Now its time to get the sub-stage rolling. Currently my truck runs on a stock 150amp alt which will need a upgrade. So I am limited to a single h/o alt for this build due to no room under the hood. I'm leaning towards a dc 270amp alt. With this alt and a power cell or 2 will I have trouble keeping up the demand of a Crecendo BC3500 with possibly 500-1k watts to spare for my front stage? I want to pick up a pair of SSA XCONS for this amp but I'm having trouble on deciding to go with 2-12's or…
