I'm hoping to upgrade from my 10" 500w rms alpine type r in sealed box this summer. I'm planning to buy a 12" and put it a ported box. I'm interested in the gcon but my main concern is power. I've read that more power won't always make a huge difference in spl. I know the gcon isn't out yet but i'm looking for an estimate of how much louder a gcon 12 should be over a dcon 12. If there isn't that much of a difference I wouldn't mind going with a dcon and not to have to worry about using too much power when putting in an amp for the speakers. As far as I know, type r's are pretty decent subs. Would a 12" 300w dcon in a ported box even be an upgrade from a 10" 500w type r in…

Ok, I was getting ready to order some 10 gauge Knu speaker wire. Then I called a friend and he said he had about 40 feet of 8 gauge Knu wire. My question is can I use the 8 gauge or would it be overkill for the power I'm running? I will be upgrading amps in the future so if I use the 8 gauge I'll be set.

Found someone selling a pair of Punch HE2 RFP3208s for cheap, and was thinking of picking them up to toy with since Ive never used 8s before. I cant find anything about them though except a lacking manual that doesnt have all the normal specs in it. Basically just 250w RMS, 11mm xmax, and box suggestions. Anyway, they are BNIB, and Im guessing kind of rare since I cant find anything on them. Has anyone heard or used them before that can comment if they are worth trying out?

Hey guys been off the market for a while but looking into buying a new car so of course had to come back and guys your guys' opinions on systems. I should be finding myself in a B8 A4 within the next month or two and already know I'm going to want some kicking bass in the trunk. I have previously had the Fi BL 18 in a big ported box... boy did I love that thing but had to sell a few things. First off I would like to ask if anyone has ran into any issues with installing systems in the B8 A4 models. I wanted to just add a sub and an amp but wasn't sure if I was going to run into allot of issues without replacing the head unit. Second, for those of you who have gone from por…

I have JL C2 6.5 components in the front and coax in the rear of my truck. Running off a JL JX 360 amp. I also have an SSA ICON 10 and sundown sax-1200 to power it. I was wondering where i should set the high pass filter for the speakers and the low pass filter for the sub?

I'm looking to upgrade my speaker system. For the front stage I'm getting the Rockford fosgate 6.5" t1 series component speakers and powering them about 100 rms to each side. For the rear stage I would like to run two sets of coaxials (cone area ftw) I'm thinking the Rockford fosgate p1 series coaxials. But idk which would be better, 6.5's or 6x9's They'd be right beside each other along my side panels in the backseat (yes some modifications will be done) and I'd run a set per channel because they are 40-50rms each so one set is around 100rms. Wi be powered by my kicker 350.4 (maybe eventually sundown 100.4 or rf p400.4) But this is just an idea of mine. If anyone has b…

My friend just got a 01 golf gti and wants a straight SPL sub. I told him just run a 12 since he wants to keep some space. What is a good all out SPL sub for daily loudness? His budget is $500. He doesn't care about sound. Also power will be off a 2k either dc or crescendo.

I have DB drive S5 6.5" comps up front right now and my Sony coaxials went out in the back. So I was thinking on moving my DBs to the back and getting some more comps up front. What comps would give me the best clarity for around $150 or less? I have about 50 watts per channel right now but plan to upgrade my amp later.

Alright well I have a very low budget for all door speakers and some bass... I definatley need the 5.25 door speakers. And I can't decide to either get 2 12s and leave my 6x9s out so it's just holes there. Or should I amp a set of 6x9s and no subs? My budget it around 400 for everything, speakers wires amps everything... It's all going in a 98 olds mobile alero. Thanks for any help you can give!

I also ordered Raam Audio; RAM matt and Ensolite to sound proof but cant make my mind up on which subs to get.. Im leaning more towards the Orion from what i have been reading as its more comparable to the JL W6... But would like some insight on what some people think on here The Orion is 500 RMS and the JL Is 300 RMS

Has anyone used these subs? Im currently running two wired at 4 ohm bridged to a 2 Channel Planet Audio 2600.2. Its getting 1800 rms. Can these subs safely be over powered because i know some subs are rated lower than what they can actually take. Also, if anyone has used these subs, have you ever been metered?
