Subwoofers / Speakers

Looking for a quality sub right now for my first system and I'm thinking about a single 12 or 15. Listen to rap mostly when I'm driving but i like to mix it up with classic rock and pop/punk about 25% of the time. I've been told 12s in general are more musical, but will a 15 provide adequate response and accuracy, provided the right enclosure? I'm thinking about an Fi Q or SSA Icon or something similar b/c they've both had great reviews on here...total budget for the sytem(including wires, enclure, electrical upgrades if needed) will be in the $1200-1500 range...not looking to spend more than 50% on the substage(amp and sub). Hello all. My wife bought me a Hifonics BXi 1208 for christmas and i was in the market for a sub to use it with. I don't want to spend more than $250-300 on a sub though. I just want something good for my daily drive to work and back. I listen to mostly hard hitting rap. Another thing... would it be foolish to run my sub at 1 ohm with no upgrades to my electrical? Hey guys, I'm looking for my first system! I want 2 12"s. I dont want to pay more than 250 a piece for each sub. I'm trying to stay under 1600 RMS for the two subs combined. I'm really choosing between 2 12" Fi SSD's, 2 12" Diamond Audio D6's, or 2 12" Alpine Type R's. I'm going to be putting them in a ported box as i listen to a lot of rap and hip hop. So I will be in the market for new sub woofers and I need some help narrowing/making a choice. They will be 2 12's What I'm looking for out of the sub is some thing that will play nicely with the front stage, which will consist of Mach 5 mli65's in the doors and seas 27TFNN's in the pillars being ran active by an 880prs. I'm sure 2 12's will have more then enough output for me so that is not being considered. The subs will start out their life in a sealed enclosure but I would like them to be versatile enough to experiment with different enclosures. Right now I have two 12w3v3 running on a MRP-M1000. I've been thinking about selling this set up and going with FI BTL N215 running on a Hifonics HFi2500D in a 4.4 CuFT box Any suggestions?

So right now i have 2 15" Fi Q's but im starting to get annoyed with them, They are in a 9 cubic feet box tuned to 33 hz (thats probally 7.5 cubes after port and displacement) Anyway they hit the low notes very hard but the high's suck, I heard the can somehow be reconed into a bl or changed into a bl is this true?

I just Stripped the black powder coating off and im sanding now. Its getting shinny. I just have to raise my sand paper number and them bust out the dremel for the polish and ill clear coat it. it will be nice pics coming asap

Has anyone had them? I'm looking at a minor upgrade from a MAW12. I've got that ported 2ft box @28hz. This one's mint. I've got a 450w amp at 2ohm's and this PXW 1542 is a dual 4 but rated 600-1000w. I like the sound of the 15's, seems much deeper, not sure if it's be louder. I did have a Clarion Deck in the past and was disappointed.

Interesting reading over on the "Ok,ok its time to leak info" thread.I have an original Mag that has the 'CLAW' basket and was wondering if the new parts for the new Mag can be used with the 'CLAW' basket?

I bought an older 12" claw mag from someone in mint condition. I already made a box, I just need to know what diameter to make the cutout. I tried searching, I can't find it please help!

What was the suggested volume for the Claw Mag in a sealed box. I think it was 0.5 - 1.5, what do you guys suggest? Also what is the mounting depth for the claw mag? Thanks!

After installing the FI BL FL with a 1500zx, it has shown its power. My friend is looking to develop a system with Rockford Fostgate in mind. The T1500 or the T1000, I was looking for 2 SUbs 13"+ that would hit hard at 1 ohm, or if it is not stable at 1 ohm, something thats stable at 2 ohms. Also, could the Rockford Fostgate amps power 2 subwoofers but still give the rated power of wattage to each Subs? He dosent want to spend more then $1100 on the amp and subwoofer and installation. Amp Prices are: T1500 = $430 T1000 = $360 Installation being around $150 Leaving $520 To play with for the 2 Subwoofers. Thanks

Some of you have seen pics or drawing of the new Mag's basket and read about its shallow 5.5" of mounting depth. You might have also heard about the super-small enclosure requirements. As much as I love my current Mag 12's, and love beating the absolute piss out of them, I have also given a lot of though as to the design in general. The current Mag (the one's we are sold out of) are a decently efficient, are extremely versitile, and have the ability to soak up a LOT of power. That last sentence has a key word in it - soak. Will a clipped signal cause the coils to run hotter and possible damage them?

Greetings, i'm looking at purchasing some new mids/high speakers for my car. i was going to go find the AA componets or get the Infinity Kappa coax's. my question is if i get the kappa's will i regret not buying the AA's? i plan to get 2 pairs of 6x9's (threeway), 1 pair of 3.5's. now my next question is would it be recommended to get the kappas as well as the componets? like maybe get a set of componets for the doors? also are the kicker KS's better quality then the kappa's?

hey, i got a pair of MTX coaxials, they were $30 brand new so you can't beat that. i wanted to get components but i was low on cash and this was a pretty good deal. i am pretty happy with them other than the stupid tweeters. they are way too harsh and too loud for my liking. how can i fix this? i've messed with the 7 band EQ on my head unit and still can't get em down. are there low pass filters or sumthin to filter out the higher tones? like the opposite of a bass blocker or sumthin....?

i have a 91 honda prelude si and im looking to get better sound in my ride. right now i have a eclipse cd5030 headunit and im going to be getting a 2 set of crescendo audio tweeters. i was wondering what would be a good mid woofer or coaxial speaker to use with the tweeters. i listen to all kinds of music but most of the time its rap.
