w/out getting into the high dollar range, are components worth the harder install over co/tri axial speakers? I'm getting my lows (sub) squared away now, I got the Avic D3 head unit, so now it's time for speakers. Currently, I got the stock bose and I'm not sure if I've heard a worse 'premium' set up. I'm going to say I have about $200 to work with for speakers

One of the voice coils on my sub no longer reads 4 ohms. I'm repairing one of my subs right now, and I decided to ohm the other subs just to see if i damaged more than that one. Well one coil is reading 6 ohms instead of 4 ohms. Leads are not broken and they do not seem to be burnt. Coil doesn't appear to be discolored. Any thoughts? Thanks

so last night i was on my way home from the tech n9ne and brotha lynch concert bumpin the new kutt calhoun cd and i noticed on higher notes like 50hz-60hz that my power hx2 started making this slight rattle type noise. whichis funny cause i just posted yesterday bout finding recones. well i thought it might be a lead slappin and doesnt look to be that. how can i determine if its coil rub? it kinda sounds like its comin from the dust cap area tho. this has me scared/sad cause i just got my sundown amp and i know i didnt over due it yet......... SO SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Has anyone had alot of coil stuck down in the motor gap before? . . Have a customer that im doing a recone for and almost all of the coil is way down in the gap. . . Just seeing if anyone has any advice on how to get it out . Iv got a little out but just coming out in little pieces . . Its an american bass hd by the way

I'm wanting to sale a sub I have laying around on Craigslist. I'm not the kind of person to screw someone over so while getting more pics a put the DMM on the coils.. That's one coil. Kinda strange on the other. First test it read 2.5 then after disconnecting the probes and I pushed on the cone. Reconnected at it shows 3.5. Not sure how to understand what's going on. My main concern is trying to sell a f'd up sub to someone. When I had it connected last it sounded decent. Didn't appear to be functioning improperly. No scraping or anything. Help me understand.

Heres the dilemma, i was just driving home from my friends when i noticed a burning electrical smell from the rear of my car. When i got home i opened the trunk and proceeded to check my dustcap to see if it was hot but it was ice cold and the stink was coming from my port. The sub was playing undistorted still and is fairly new. Should i worry about this? Sub feels fine and my gains were set by ear. No noticable clipping. hey guys i'll be ordering my 15 mag shortly and was just wondering how this sub will cmpare to my old 16ov2 and e15a.I am looking for a good sounding sub that will get loud and easily handle my crossfire vr1000d(1000 rms at 12.5 volts).Any help is appreciated.

So here's the lowdown, I have a 93 Subaru legacy sedan and I'm looking for a sub and an amp.About 70% of what i listen to is metal, and the other 30% is mostly dubstep with a bit of rap thrown in on the rare occasion.Basically i want something that will sound good with the double bass and fast bass lines in metal, but still have some thump for dubstep.Looking to keep it under $400 for both.I've been seriously considering a dcon 12,but i saw a vendor selling an open box sa-12 in the classifieds.I'd like some good sq but in not an audiophile, if it will sound good with music I'd be more than happy.

So, I have a newly acquired ep3 (Honda Civic SI, 2002). Audio system is completely stock. It has a set of tweets 1'' above the dash, and two pairs of 6.5'' speakers in it. I believe i should be getting a component set, and leave the rear stage for fill, and only get fronts. So then I could get some nice stuff, but mind it has to be within the power range of the CS60.4. I'm new to component sets, although, I know rainbow has some nice stuff. Time to upgrade! Right now i have Infinity Reference coaxials, and they were good for first speakers, but the longer i owned them, more i realized that they suck. I have 6.5s up front and 6x9s in the back. I'm not planning on buying new 6x9s cause i haven't read one post that is for buying them, or even having them for that matter. I also have a SDC2.5 12" sub and an AQ1200D amp. i have around $200 to spend and have list of component sets that i think look good......but I've only heard the Focal set, and i was very impressed! Definitely feel free to add speakers to the list. I want SQ comps, don't really care if they get loud.....as long as they sound good! JL Audio VR…

ok so ive had my comps in for about a week now and today i just now noticed that there are holes in the door from the stock speakers.Would that be messing with my sound quality at all cause there are like 4 holes around each mid????

In a thread i started earlier i said i was looking to get an icon for my subs, but now that im very close to having the money to have the system put in im starting to lean towards the kicker comp vt for my subs. I was wondering if anybody had any expirence with these subs and if they are worth the money. If i got them i would get 2 twelves and a kicker dx 1000.1 to run them and they will be going behind the back seat of my single cab ford pickup.

Hi guys, My Durango has 6.5's upfront with factory 1 inch tweets and 6.5''s in rear. My plan was to put new comp set up front and a midbass spkr, in rear, but after reading some peoples posts they say rear spkrs. won't be heard anyway. Is this true? If so instead of a 4 channel amp do I just run a 2 ch. and wire it to the spkrs and tweets or just the spkrs and run the tweets off the radio? Thanks for your help.

Man, i really had my heart set on sellings my two magnum 12s and getting two of the 15s. Those theives piss me off. Anyways, since there is no telling when stereo integrity will get back on their feet, i need a sub/subs that will work off my Tsunami 1800. I want them to perform (spl wise) like two 15" D2s would. And i will be tuning the subs low, so i can hit the real low lows. I just dont know what to get. 18inch XXX was an option, but i dont know if it will give me the SPL i was lookin for. What ever the case, it must hit harder than my dual Mag 12s. Please help me out as soon as possible

Hey all. I was hoping you all could help me compare and contrast a couple different subs. I’m not going to ask which is better, I’ll make that decision. Just want some input on where each sub may have its strong points, weak points, etc. speaker size is 15”. Amp rms rated power is 2750 at 1 ohm. But after rise etc etc you get the idea. Enclosure will be 3 cu ft ported with about 50 sq in of port. Subs are as follows 1. Sundown Z v.3 2. SSA XCON 3. SSA ZCON So not really looking for someone to help me pick a sub just to tell me any experiences they may have had with these subs, especially if you've used both and any thoughts, suggestions, concerns you may have. Im wondering which to get. 2 Fi SSD 12s in its optimal enclosure or 2 Sundown Sa-12s in their optimal enclosure both will be running on the same amp. Im wondering which would get loud and retain sound quality while doing it. All ported by the way.

ok I have my decision narrowed down to a few choices, I am looking for LSQ more sq though, these will be ported and on a sundown SAZ-1500D amp, I will use my entire trunk if possible(15.7cubes) I dont have any electrical upgrades and think the only ones i'll need with 1500wrms will be a new battery and the big 3, but yeah the choices are either 2 RD sonance 15"s, or 2 RD classic 15"s, or a SI new MAG 15"s, also if you think of any other sugesstions feel free to write them down, thank you

Well I got bored and decided to rip apart a sub to compare with a Magnum. Here's what a pretty regular 12" speaker (rated at 400 watts I think) looks like beside ours:
