So I'm trying this whole active thing out with drivers I had laying around. I was actually pretty impressed how the random drivers sounded so I figured I could spend some money on stuff. But before I purchase, I keep seeing people saying that to make a certain driver sound good it needs a "notch filter" to smooth out the response. I researched and now I know exactly what it means, but I don't want to build one (mostly because I have no clue how to do that) so I was thinking...and I realized that they're using the notch filters for the same thing we use an EQ for in a car...right? hey guys i'll be ordering my 15 mag shortly and was just wondering how this sub will cmpare to my old 16ov2 and e15a.I am looking for a good sounding sub that will get loud and easily handle my crossfire vr1000d(1000 rms at 12.5 volts).Any help is appreciated.

So same set up as befor, 1 Amp 1 Stinger 1700 2 DC LV4XL10's --- i dident clamp it so i dont have a exact number, just guessing off the last set up and clamped power i say around 4700 watts but again i dident clamp it so thats just a guess

I'm considering an ixl-18 for home theater, however as I don't have any money (yes, I need to sell something to buy the 18 ) I am limited when it comes to powering it. In this case, power will be from a harmon kardon receiver. I can comfortably massage 120wpc (rms) continous from the unit without a second thought. Modeling the driver in a 7cuft/19hz vented box in winisd shows me 111.5dB output 19hz and up at 240w.. I know the receiver will easily exceed 120wpc, and being that this is a dual 2ohm driver, I can reasonably expect 240wrms per coil for short bursts. Thermal limitations will come into play if it needs to supply that much power for extended periods though,…

finally ported the 12" magnum 2 cubes to 30hz. im loving it, it gets nasty loud and sounds even better i think than sealed. I have it running off the viper d1200.1. I have always wonder this, exactly what is the difference between these different speaker configurations. I want to know the difference, well the reason behind the following. Two-Way speaker Three-Way speaker Four-Way speaker Would like to know the Purpose, Pros/Cons of said above. Also, would appreciate some shed of light comparing this/these to an active or passive setup. I am planning on working on my front stage to get ready for my system how does a $1000 budget sound for 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, amp wiring, head unit, and maybe even crossovers I may be able to pull a couple hundred more dollars but if this budget sounds too low then what am I looking at paying. I am hoping on saving money by just buying a good amp at a low price so what kind of amp would be good at about 60 watts x 6 at 4 ohms. I was looking at Boston components but only crutch field carries them and they dont have that great of a selection of them so what other brand is good I don't need attached tweeters I have a place for them on the doors.

pair of Mach 5 12's in 4.5 cuft, tuned to 33hz... in my car, 05 aveo hatchback. alrighty... im building a new system for a friend of mine... he wants to compete in db drag.. its a 2000 eclipse gt v6 pushing around 450-500whp... anyways... ive got to decide which would be louder for the price.... i can get a single Kicker Solo X 12 and push it with the 1200.1... or I can get two L7 15's, which would be more suited for the amp... and both of which would be in vented enclosures tuned to probably low 30's... not sure yet... any suggestions? thanks -AcId-

I decided to go with 2 12" SI Mag but i have limited trunk space because i have a Civic. Does anyone think i could 2 mags in a ported box hittin to their full potetial, the box will be tuned to 32 Hz if that helps, in my Civic. Ive never built a box and im pretty new to car audio but i know someone who's gonna help me build the box.

I need help choosing a spl/ daily. I'm going to be hooking up 2 15"s to a saz3500. I was going to go with btl but I dnt know about their new btls. I want to compete in small events here like texas heatwave but it will be my daily driver. I have looked at some dc level 5 and some re audio. Wat do you guys think I should get? Hi all, So a month or so ago I was driving around listening to my system and had a young kid in my backseat and he kicked my amp rcas breaking them half off in the amp. Long story short my mids on my Hertz HSK components blew when I turned it up not realizing this and now sound like crap. I currently don't have the budget to go out and spend $500 on a new set. So i recently borrowed some l5's from a friend, but they only have 1 set of voice coils. The magnet has a sticker that says kicker l5 dual 4ohm front says kicker and is square. There is holes on the other side of the basket for more terminals*the gold colored screw things that you put the wire in* looking on the sub there is no spiders or anything for a 2nd coil, any ideas?? thought all of them were dual 4

What is a really good 8" sub whose depth is between 5.25" and 5 7/8".....enclosure will be .6 cu per sub. I will be running 2 of them and already have a 1k watts amp, so if they can handle 500 watts each that would be fantastic.

How big of a difference in SPL and SQ do you think there would be between a 15" and a 12" Fi Q. Would be in a ported box built to recommended dimensions. Oh, and powered by a Kicker zx1500.1 at 4 ohms for around 850 RMS.

The first time i bought trunk audio a bought a 1000W kenwood amp and 2 12" 400W kenwood speakers. and when i connected them in series + to - it was ok bass but when i turned it up past 20 volume the music got louder but the bass got quieter. and when i connected them in parallel it was awesome very loud sound and bass but the amp heated up a lot please recommend me a amp and speakers i should get that will be loud and make by trunk bounce lol

Either would be a 15'' ran off an AQ 2200. Am more focus on SPL but would like to sound desent. Setup will be going into a Dakota ext. cab. Enclosure will be a 4 cu.ft. tunes to 32Hz. I mosting listen to reggae with a little rap in the mix. I also was told about the Fi BTL but would like you guys opinions on the chosen few. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

so i bought a re se 10 about a year ago. i bought it from dealer cost audio or whatever. either way ive heard of problems from this site after i ordered. so i installed it friday for the first time. everything was hooked up correctly. triple checked before making it final. i turned on my hu, turned up the volume to just get the sub moving. after about an hour i turned it up a little more, went to the cargo area to check and i noticed this little paper ruslting sound. after a few more hours i turned the volume up more and the sound was more prominent. now its just annoying. i cant really hear it from the front. but its noticable from the back. as volume goes up it gets wor…

2000 Mustang Convertible, rear 5.25 speakers dont really work anymore since the car has been redone with new audio. I need new budget 5.25 speakers (or even a large tweeter) that I can replace them with.

I just got my 15" icon dual 2 on monday =) So anyway im probably about 75% done building a fiberglass box for it and I may have to invert the sub to get the neccesary air space. When i do that I have to reverse the polarity correct? So for a 1 ohm load at the amp I would run amp + to sub - on voice coil 1 and amp - to sub + on voice coil 2 and then connect the remaining 2 terminals together. Is that correct?
