Ok, im new to what im about to get into. never really graphed out the response of a sub i was interested in before. I purchased this program "subwoofer design toolbox" by Mark Rumreich. I have been punching in the few parameters this programs requires on just about every sub lately that i could possibly be interested in. Alot give me a weird looking graph that to the best of my knowledge looks bad, real peaky. so I run across an sa12 which is in my budget and just might fit my goals. Im looking for a sub that will basically be as much of a ground pounder as i can with 1 sub. I want it to nail the lows and sound decent enough everywhere else. listen to rap and bass heavy …

My friend wants to purchase my 1.8 cu ft ported enclosure tuned to 30 hz along with my MTX amplifier that is rated at 400 watts RMS. He also wants to purchase a 12" Re Audio subwoofer. Which sub would you recommend to him if he had the setup I mentioned above? Would he be underpowering the SE while reaching full potential with the SR? He is not really into SQ as I am, but he wants his bass to be loud and extremely low. Which sub would be better off with 400 watts RMS? Thanks

What is a really good 8" sub whose depth is between 5.25" and 5 7/8".....enclosure will be .6 cu per sub. I will be running 2 of them and already have a 1k watts amp, so if they can handle 500 watts each that would be fantastic.

I'm considering an ixl-18 for home theater, however as I don't have any money (yes, I need to sell something to buy the 18 ) I am limited when it comes to powering it. In this case, power will be from a harmon kardon receiver. I can comfortably massage 120wpc (rms) continous from the unit without a second thought. Modeling the driver in a 7cuft/19hz vented box in winisd shows me 111.5dB output 19hz and up at 240w.. I know the receiver will easily exceed 120wpc, and being that this is a dual 2ohm driver, I can reasonably expect 240wrms per coil for short bursts. Thermal limitations will come into play if it needs to supply that much power for extended periods though,…

They seem great. I still can't believe Mark's prices. You would never guess that they're $36 speakers by looking at them. They even came with grills and hex screws. I'll be installing them tonight. I can't wait. You'll get a review on Monday. Since this is my first post, here's a little background: I'm 16, got into this stuff when I got my car at 14. I drive a Geo Tracker with a pair MAW12s, each in a PWK designed 4th order BP. The boxes are stacked in a wall sorta style. It's ridiculously loud even with the soft top. I have a PHD-10,000W/2 driving the MAWs which are wired to 4 ohms. My front-stage consists of a NINe.4 driving a/d/s tweeters and the MLIs wil…

ok i need some help decideing between my next setup. i allready have a RE12.1 amp rated at 1200wrms at 1ohm but i've seen bench tests showing close to 1500wrms, i have a 99 grand am and would like to keep the box around 3.5cf net. now my options either 2 10's ported 1 12 ported or 2 12's sealed. in all honesty i would love 2 12 mags sealed but as nick informed me their only come in dvc2 which won't work with my amp, well they will work but i dont think their output will meet my needs. so now that leaves me looking. so far im looking into ssa icons, audioque 2.5, aa arsenal, and re se for dual sub setup and AA havoc, audioque hdc, nightshade, and re sx for single sub setup…

Check it out: www.stereointegrity.com/hometheater.html These are unfinished pictures of the Esprit speakers. They will look totally different by the time we're finished with them. BTW: The guy in the middle is 6' tall.

I received 4 of these just before Christmas. I have been playing with enclosure volumes and let me tell you these speakers sound great!! I currenty have each of them in .0198 ft3 and they are working great! If anybody has any doubt about these drivers for the money, I don't think there is anything better out there (just my opinion).

How big of a difference in SPL and SQ do you think there would be between a 15" and a 12" Fi Q. Would be in a ported box built to recommended dimensions. Oh, and powered by a Kicker zx1500.1 at 4 ohms for around 850 RMS.

Well bad news. Was about to order the second level 6 18 but apparently all the m4 motors are gone. Theve just released the m5 motor. Soo it was all up in the air over either some sp4v2's or new btl neo's. Tried contacting FI three separate times over the past few months with no response. Thus it looks like I shall order a pair of evils in the next couple weeks. I'm not bashing. But I've seen the service ssa provides. And that's the service I'd like to get as a paying customer. God knows this isn't a cheap hobby.

alrighty... im building a new system for a friend of mine... he wants to compete in db drag.. its a 2000 eclipse gt v6 pushing around 450-500whp... anyways... ive got to decide which would be louder for the price.... i can get a single Kicker Solo X 12 and push it with the 1200.1... or I can get two L7 15's, which would be more suited for the amp... and both of which would be in vented enclosures tuned to probably low 30's... not sure yet... any suggestions? thanks -AcId-

I almost hesitate in asking this....... as I realise that this is not really what Mach5 seems to be about (and to be honest neither am I). But....... Has anyone here utilised the smaller IXL series (such as the IXL 10) in a SPL type situation? Competitively? I am currently competing in a series of Sound Quality events which have an attached SPL component (for an overall Champ). Not designed to be top end SPL type comp but something fun for the SQ guys to compete in. Anyway I'm simply after any hints that might be floating around, I know its very install/box dependent (basically I'm in a small hatch so loading is good!) but....... you get the idea. Has anyone actually pull…

Hi all, So a month or so ago I was driving around listening to my system and had a young kid in my backseat and he kicked my amp rcas breaking them half off in the amp. Long story short my mids on my Hertz HSK components blew when I turned it up not realizing this and now sound like crap. I currently don't have the budget to go out and spend $500 on a new set. Problem is I loved these speakers and really don't want to downgrade much if possible so my only real option I see is going active. My System currently: In a 2003 Dodge Dakota Crew cab. Kenwood bt948HD link: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-a1evnpn0JP0/p_113BT948HD/Kenwood-KDC-BT948HD.html 6.5" Hertz HSK components 2x…

TL sensor was placed on the headrest, vehicle sealed up.. http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mach5installcb3.jpg we then tried the 2 loudest frequencies and turned the amp up until they stopped getting louder @ 35hz, the Mach 5's did a 138.2 with 1843 watts @ 40hz, the Mach 5's did a 137.3 with 1050 watts video of them @ 40hz http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/vladd...nt=S5000240.flv very loud woofers for the price... one thing I do need to mention... the coils on these drivers dcr pretty low... 2.3 ohm per coil... I'd call it a nominal dual 2 ohm driver myself.. at the very least a …

Just got my GCON 12" am running a decent set of BA components up front and I now notice a gaping hole in midbass The GCON gets lower than I expected and the BA's are super crisp and clean on the highs but what can I use to fill the midbass? I am looking at the PWX or NeoPro 8" or 6.5"...which should I go with? I was leaning toward the PWX because of the price but I will only have around 100RMS to work with and the PWX are rated 200RMS! Will they sound good with 100RMS? any other suggestions, or is the NeoPro my best bet?
