Just bought a NIB Death Row, going to power it woth a Skar 1500. It is the 'old'(last year. I guess you would say) 1000w version. I am sure like most IA stuff these subs are conservatively rated, and it is a 'music' build. i shouldn't have to worry too much about overpowering right? I only ask cuz this is going to be my 15yo's truck next yr. I am teaching him how to use his senses(hearing/smell, and common) to not overdrive the gear, but he is a teenager.LOL On a side note- It is funny that when visually comparing to my Xcon- they are so close in all deminsions(which I realized has little to do with power handling), yet the X is rated for almost double.

My old Death Row has been sitting around for a while not doing anything. I decided to give it to my brother and was wondering what the downsides would be to trying to run the Death Row in a Sealed Box? I know it is recommended ported, but the proper room just isn't there. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

I currently have a Polk Audio SR 124 SVC 12" subwoofer. It is not particularly loud but sounds great. I am more concerned about SQ. I plan to redesign my trunk and would like to go with 2 or 3 10's. I plan on a false floor construction in my 2003 Mustang Cobra trunk. The subs will be facing up in the middle of the trunk and powered by a Zapco DC reference 1100.1 amp with about 850W @ 4ohms. Source unit is a Pioneer AVIC N3 navigation system. I currently have a Polk Audio SR6500 component set in the doors powered by a Zapco DC Reference 1000.4 amp. My picklist is below: 2- Soundsplinter RL-i10's : pros: great price & reputation cons: not sure 2- Audiopulse Epic …

alright guys so iv decided i wont be getting a zcon because i just wont have the electrical for it. what i have is 1200 watts that my eletrical can handle at ease. Im going to sell my bl to fund my next build. Im thinking of instead of getting just 1 sub id like to get 2 12" subs that do around 1200 watts conbined so around 600 each. im trying to get the loudest i can off of 1200 watts pretty much. I was thinking of either 2 ssd, 2 sa12 or 2 w7 but would take alot of saving up lol. I absolutly loved how my 1 12w7 sounded the real deep rich lows with rumble. I see the icon doesnt come in a 12" but id consider it if it did since there about 600 watts each. Or if you guys ha…

came across SSA today while shopping for some news subs. i have a kenwood excelon amp which pushes 600rms x1 at 2ohms and its 1ohm stable but with no power rating. i posted on crutchfield.com and by chance someone mensioned the ssa icon 12" that he heard. i dont think i have the power for that sub.... i listen to metal and atternative rock. so i goin for a sq or LSQ kind of set up. buget is $250 max. i build my own box and understand box construction. my old subs where 3 12" kicker comps (my first system so dont bash me about them. lol) just looking for something that will keep me satified for the next couple year while im at college. so this is basicly my only upgrade i…

Hey guys, I am starting to save up some money to put into a system for my car and I am trying to decide on subs. Ive never had a big power setup before but I wanted to take a shot at it. My car is a 2002 hyundai XG350L. I want to do the setup to either have the port going thorugh a skipass or ported through the rear deck. I want to seal the box from the trunk to maximize potential. My original thoughts were to go with 2 12" xcons. But now that I've been starting to shop around im thinking that a single 15 might work better. Im really having a tough time deciding because 12's and a single 15" xcon would both be good setups. I know that there is a major power difference bet…

So the time has come to purchase a new subwoofer. I have been using a Rockford P3 for the last couple months and loved it but decided it was about time to move up in the world of the bassheads. I have a really hard time deciding on the simplest of things and thats why im posting here to try and get help on deciding. i by no means mean this to be a "VS" thread. just need a push in the "right" direction. so the 3 subs im tryin to decide on are: -Ascendant Audio Mayhem 15 -Fi Audio SP4 15 -DC Audio level 4 15 ill be running it on one of the Hifonics mt. olympus series amps (the one that best fits the particular subs RMS rating, of course) the sub will be put in a custom…

First if would like to say hi to everyone on the forum. I am 34 and have been buying stereo stuff since before i bought my first car. never got into box building or fabrication but i know a little bit about a thing or two lol. Ok my lasst set up was a single ssd 15" powered by a Memphis 400watt 2 channel amp...i know not enough juice by the us amps i had been running fried. Well i sold that a few years ago and looking into buying a new set up for my 08 gmc envoy. Its not going to be for competing unless some little punk tries being stupid and i have to show off a bit. But i am needing help on a choice. i am trying to decide between 4 different subs right now. all are du…

Hey SSA, I am in need of some help selecting which subwoofers to go with that would be fit my application. I'm going to try to give as much info as possible about goals, requirments ect.. I have done lots of research on the drivers that I'm considering and while there all quality drivers, I do not have personal experance with any of them so it's somewhat hard to make a choice. Vehicile: 2002 Acura RSX. The car is a hatchback for those who do not know. My plan in to build custom fiberglass enclosers for two 10 inch subwoofers on each side of the hatch. They will be about 1cubic foot and I also plan to port them using aero ports being that a slot port would be tuff to w…

Hello everybody. I'm trying to build a small, powerful setup in my 2016 Silverado doublecab. I want to run 1 woofer. Breaking it in on ~2400 rms, then linking another amp going to 4800 once I finish the electrical. I'd like some clean sounding air movement. Not super into high notes, but I'd like to be able to hit the full range and then go down low with extreme authority. I'm looking to run this sub in a ported box as big as I can in the space I have, 2 cubes or less. Open to aeroporting. I've always ran single 15s but with the space constraints I'm open to moving down to 10 or 12. Interested in a nightshade nsv4 but can't decide/don't have the knowledge or experience to…

I've been going back and forth between what subs to get for about a year now, and still have no idea what to get. So my ? is, what is everyone's def of sq, meaning whats the difference is sound? Between the audioque hdc, ia dp, nightshade, xcon, everyone wrote back xcon ftw, but when I look on audioque's website, they have a guy winning sq comps, Nick at ia said they have ppl running dp for sq, I've read nightshades were better than those two, and the xcon would have the best sq, but mabye not have the spl as the others??? I think the sub will go as low as the fs?? maybe lower, so the xcon ftw.... but I want to make sure its the loudest as possible too. I'm guessing I w…

Showed off the 302s to a friend who is running an entirely Alpine Type-R setup. He was quite impressed... I believe his exact words were, "Wow, now that is clarity." His Type-R components sound pretty good, don't get me wrong, but they most definatly weren't equal to the 302s -- and he agreed with that no arguments. The Type-R tweeter sounded somewhat shrill in comparison and the midbass capability wasn't anywhere near the 302s. And, of course, since he had no EQ you could sense the mids rolling off in his car, where that wouldn't be happening with the 302 midrange. Steven, I need to track you down sometime you can take a listen -- you might end up wanting a set!

Trying to post a design I drew up. Dont worry it is not stick figures. I want to get your opinions on this box and amp rack. If anyone could allow me to send it to them through email and then post it I would appreciate it. I tried to use the "image" option and it did not work.

Ok well I had this all wrote and and stupid me closed the tab out when I was looking up some info. So I shall start again. Overview: Ok, I'm planning on getting back into audio (not that I left for long). My past installs have all been geared toward being the loudest possible. My new plan is to try and make my setup geared toward SQ. I'm thinking about doing a 3 way active front stage. I still planning a sub stage but that is not what I'm worried about. I'm just not real sure on how exactly to get my front stage up and running. Now that you have an idea on whats going on, on to some questions. I plan on piecing my front stage together instead of buying a "kit" o…
