Subwoofers / Speakers

I haven't been able to audition these, but I've narrowed my front components down to this. Will be running a Sundown Audio 1100.5 and may drive them actively. It'll be in a 2002 Trans Am using the door structure where the tweeters are mounted low but aimed toward your ears. I understand the Focal sound is very bright and detailed and can be a bit harsh/tiring. However, my car is a bit loud and am afraid the Morel's flatter, warmer sound will be lost/overpowered by my subwoofer package, though I do prefer that sort of sound in general outside of the car. In addition, the Morels seem to have a better midrange/woofer that plays in the 50-3000hz range with a 2250 crosso…

  4. I destroyed my tweeters and need help choosing on a replacement. I can see some of my ignorance on the install also, such as poor aiming. So I am hoping to learn the rest of the tricks to installing tweeters. The tweeters are Seas 27tffnc/g. They sounded very clean and sterile, and I cant say I ever had a complaint with them. I feel what i was lacking was more due install perhaps. That and my listening style. I do 90% of my listening on the highway with the window down. Thats NOT going to change. I don't do demo's and rarely even have someone in the car with me. As far as what was lacking. I could never quite get the vocals to sound "full" or "natural". P…

So we had a dealer whos building a SS1-2 truck ask for duel leads on there LV518's, So this is what we came up with, each lead is now 2 of the biggest leads we have in shrinked together an because the leads are so large we cant use a terminal so we go directly into 1.5 foot 8 awg leads.

Looked around and got a bunch of mixed answers but I'll regurgitate what I have. 1. It fools the speaker into thinking the box is bigger than it is. 2. It makes the interior of the enclosure hotter. 3. When used in ported boxes it slightly lowers tuning. On to my questions/possible misconceptions. 1. Does that mean the speaker is louder?...Or does it play lower or what? I'm confuzzled. 2. Does that lower the thermal power handling of the speaker by hindering it's cooling capabilities? 3. My box is sealed sooooo...nvm And before anyone tells me not to mess around with it, my box is sealed and too small (I forgot to account for sub displacement) and plus I'm running about h…

My current setup is in a 2000, mustang convertible. Very little room. I am using 2 seperate boxes at about 1 cube sealed. I have a kicker 750.1 amp, powering two 10 inch CVRs. My question is, what can I drop in that will sound better? Of course the cvrs are loud, but after I tuned them there just not where I would like. I am looking for a cheap replacement. I may be able to sell the cvrs to some friends to help with cost. I'm looking at the Sundown E-10, so Skar IVX 10 Would an upgrade be worth if it, if so, what subs should I get? In short: 750-800rms, 1 cube sealed (each), daily use. What to get?

  12. I've been nursing this for a number of months now. It will be in the assembly stage within weeks. Pictured below is the voice coil of the next Mach 5 build - wound by yours truly. This will eliminate power compression so it will simply get louder with additional power applied. In the center (of the first pic) is a 3" coil to give you an idea of its size.

Just as the Topic title states. I have been getting MIXED Responses on whether "Breaking In" your Subs is necessary. What do you think about that or do you not do it at all. I have always "Broke In" my subs, but I have a Comp coming up in the next week or Couple of weeks from now. My subs are pretty much stiff, as I have just installed them today. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your Input on this matter.

I figured I would share... I bought these a few months back dirt cheap. I was planning on using them in my car, but they are just too damn big for my doors. I wanted a bit more bottom end up front then my Hertz Milles were delivering. I love the Mille tweet, but I missed the bottom end of my CDT ES-06s. Anyways, I took some shots of it next to my ES-06. A single Anarchy weighs in at about 8 pounds apiece. For comparisons sake, the box with both my ES-06s weighed in at 6 pounds. I thought the ES-06 was huge when i first got them. Bigger then any other 6.5 mids I can recall having my hands on by a long shot. Without a doubt they are the heaviest mids, by a mile... I figured…

I have 4 RF Punch Stage 1's (I know they suck, temporary until I can get more money). I just lined the inside of my box with mattress padding (cheapo, I know). Before I put the foam in the box was tuned to 29 Hz. Did the airspace the foam took up make my box smaller? I built the box with 4 separate chambers, each one being 1.805 cu. ft., which is slightly larger than the recommended 1.79 cu. ft. per sub. So is the box smaller now and have a different tuning? Also, is fast double bass bad for these subs? I have them on a horrible Xplod amp wired at 2 ohms ~600 rms. They sound good, but I know I'll be getting something else asap.

w/out getting into the high dollar range, are components worth the harder install over co/tri axial speakers? I'm getting my lows (sub) squared away now, I got the Avic D3 head unit, so now it's time for speakers. Currently, I got the stock bose and I'm not sure if I've heard a worse 'premium' set up. I'm going to say I have about $200 to work with for speakers

  18. Hey everyone, Just registered up for the forum today, seems to be all great people here, and that is why I’m coming to you guys for some help. To get straight to the point I will describe my situation. Vehicle: 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart This vehicle does have a fair size trunk, well for the size of the car. The only thing that is really keeping me back from doing what I want [2 12" Ported] is the trunk opening. As of now I have 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch P2's in a sealed 2ft^3 box. I have a 4ft^3 slot ported box tuned to 31.5Hz made for these woofers, which I used in a previous vehicle, but this box will not fit in the Ralliart. So first things first: I can not fit an…

  20. Here it goes, I finally got back into town and off my butt and am installing my front stage. After a month of looking at the compromises, I have decided to go with tweeters in the A-pillar (Alpine D2904/610001) and to mount my SEAS (W18E001) in the kicks. Being my car is a 5 speed I couldn't lose much foot space either so the directional mounting won't be optimal, but surely a lot better than stock! Three pictures for this post: 1) My bare kicks--drilled to accept glass 2) My baffles--the glue is still drying so I can't do anything 3) My kicks reinforced with glass and a hole chopped for lining up my drivers with the open area in my fenders--to be vented so they will …

So since I am going to be finally putting in the saz2500d, I figured it was time to put new subs in! But the question is which ones. I like the zcon's and they can handle 2500 each. But the sundowns can handle 1500. My box is 4.75^3 tuned to 36hz. Finally got money to get the d3100 and. Already have the 0gauge to wire it. Any suggestions?

How about a little history lesson on Blues? How did they start? Who was involved? What happened to the line when SoundQuest (Way before AAMP/Stinger) bought them out? When they decided to bring the Blues lineup back? I am very interested as I always liked the brand when I was a kid back in the 90's. P.S. Let's get Ray on here to spill the beans on Blues and Linear Power.

So I think this has been asked before but I'm not sure my search worked well enough just found 4sale stuff with it mentioned... My Xcon was in extra awesome condition.... Found out that today my father was moving stuff in their garage and boom he calls me to say he thinks he hit it with a piece of plywood he was moving ... There is now a puncture/tear about 1/3 of an inch maybe less.... What can I use to fix it/glue it? I know I don't want to "melt" the surround material with normal glue but what should I be using? The subwoofer won't see any action for a while so cure time is no issue..... Let me know.. Sad that this fcking subwoofer was sitting in that garage 8…

since i finally have my head unit , sub , and amp i guess its time to upgrade the door speakers. im going to leave the 6x8's in the rear fill simply because i dont feel like messin with it or see the need to. im wanting to get adapters to fit either 5.25 or 6.5 inch speakers for my front door for a ford pickup. i was wondering wheres the best place to find some to buy or should i try to make some. im decent with making things but have no experience with anything like this. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-6201-ctx65cs-image-dynamics-65-component-speaker-system.aspx was wanting to get these since ive seen so many good reviews
