Well, I just found out today that I'm gettin an '02 Dodge Dakota quad cab for graduation After doing a little searching, there are very few possibilities of having a sub in the truck and not losing any seating space in the rear of the cab (well actually only one - MTX thunderform, but I definitely don't like the looks of it). So I plan to but a small sealed box in the middle of the floor in the rear, on the transmission hump. My question: does anyone have any experience with subs in trucks (mine in particular) and if there is any major difference in sound/output between up-firing, down-firing, forward, ect... I have read that downfiring is the way to go for sealed an…

2 12's or 2 10's for small 4 dr sedan? (95 geo prizm) I've made up my mind on a subwoofer, I'm going to go with the Image Dynamics Version 2 but i'm not sure wether to get 2 10's or 2 12's. I don't want my trunk to rattle like hell plus I don't want to overpower my front stage. I'm going to have them in a custom built sealed in closure. Front Stage - CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System Sub Stage - IDQ10V2.D4 - Image Dynamics 10" IDQ Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer OR IDQ12V2.D4 - Image Dynamics 12" IDQ Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer Thanks!

Sorry, but i dont know the terminology for it but it the big ol rubber ring, and it has very small scratches on it, and it is thinner in this one spot. It still has plenty of rubber, and there is no hole yet, but i am afraid it may rip when i play it loud. I dont know how it got like this, but it have happened when i moved. So should i replace now it or what until it completly rips to replace it, also which one would you recomend, and how would i install it. I have a Fi Q12, and a memphis 16-PRD 1000.1, all in a 2.25^3 cuft custom box ported to 32 hz.

Alright guys I have a problem, my Bravox component set's left side tweeter isn't working. Before I took the door apart I switched the RCA's from left to right and the tweeter was still inoperable. Whenever I would hit a bump the tweeter would crackle and turn on then turn off. The tweeter was confirmed working On low power when i put the tweeter on the amp and it worked perfectly. I'm not sure what went wrong with the X-over seeing how I JUST installed and it had been sitting in my closet since i bought them and it hasn't been exposed to any moisture what-so-ever. I purchased them new from the SSA store some time ago.

A friend has some subs that suffered a poor recone job by their previous owner. There are gaps (air leaks) around the surround that I want to seal. It looks easy enough to do from the back, just peeling back the surround and dropping a bead of glue in. The question is what kind of glue do I use, and possibly more important, where can I find it? The only glues I actually have already are CA-based "super glue", various "goop" products, and 2-part epoxy glues. I want to buy the right glue for the job however if there's something better I can use. I also need to glue the dustcover, which is peeling off.

Hey guys. I have no experience with either sub and I would like some feedback from those who actually have had personal experience with both subs instead of just guessing from specs. Which will be louder on 1400 watts rms amp? This will be a sealed box of 2 cubes with 2 lbs of polyfil. Usable frequency 30hz/24db - 80hz/24db. Personally when I look at the specs I am guessing the performance might be on par with the Xcon being a tad louder, but Fi is around 32 lbs and Xcon is around 47 lbs, so in terms of weight Fi is a better option, but is the extra weight of Xcon worth it if it is in fact that much louder? This is for a daily driver. Thanks

Not breaking any new ground here, I know, but looking to get a bit more input before I do some spending. My ultimate goal is to have a great SQ substage. I was curious what the best route would be in terms of an enclosure. Sealed? Ported? Tuning? Size? Sub firing upwards? Port firing rear? SI Suggestions: Sealed 1 to 1.3 ft^3 Ported 2 ft^3 tuned to 32 Hz I'm sure I'll end up staying close to these, but which end of the 'spectrum' would yield the greatest sq potential of an SI Mag D2 12"? Other information that may or may not help: Car - 1999 Subaru Impreza Wagon (sub behind rear seat, ample enclosure space) Amp - USAmps DE1000 (1000wrms+ @1ohm) Deck - Pioneer Premier DEH-…

So as most of may know the car that is crashed does not have the speakers or amp....so imma buy these things. for the rear imma go with 6.5 coax's and in the front imma go with components but the hard thing i am finding is which ones i am on a 150 dolllar budget on speakers. I found these 3 way speakers but i dont know if these are better or worse than the regular 2 way ones. If i go to 2 way imma go RE Audio Components not the xxX i have had them before and i liked them. I can get all 4 speakers for 150 and 100 for the XT800.4 amp from RE /US amps i had this setup before but now im just trying to figure out if the 3 ways are better or what? Or maybe you guys have better …

well after gettin a phone call at 4.00 last night i promptly got my stuff together and went to the petrol station:) 2 and a half hours later i was greated by a short bloke with ladies boobs and a shed load of white boxes we promptly began opening a few boxes and comparing subs here we can see a few pics of the 12" subs level 2, level 3 and level 4 also a matrix elite thrown in for comparison level 2 level 3 level 4 level 4 vs me then we got to business with the fitting for now i'm running 2 small 800rm @ 1 ohm star sound gladiator amps until my order comes in then we had a wall and how it should look when finished we gave it a quick setting up and went…

I was playing "Clearest Blue" by CHVRCHES and it was pounding, in a moment of foolishness, I pumped up the sub out volume on my HU and the sub was putting out some serious bass and then nothing. My fears were confirmed when I pulled the XCON 10 yesterday and saw the broken tinsel lead. I knew I didn't cook the coil as I didn't smell anything, in fact, the coil looked perfect. I do NOT want to do this again. I've had the XCON for over 2 years now and it's in a box designed by SSA. I've fed it with a Rockford Fosgate T-500 bd, then a PPI Black Ice 5000 (1700 watts rms @ 2 ohm (per manufacturer (yes, I know that number is grossly over inflated)), and finally on a Rocf…

Hey guys, hoping to get some help or suggestions here, but I'll just introduce myself a little first. I've been reading this forum for a long time though I have not really posted much, and I've basically used it ever since I did my first system about 4 years ago. Like I said, I've been in to car audio for a while, I've done 4 different of my own installs in that time, and have done and helped with many of my mates installs as well, so though I have lots to learn still, I have a fair bit of experience. I live in Australia, so our set-up here is a bit different in terms of brand availability and what we can listen to at shops etc. So, on to the problem. I recently bought …

I want to upgrade from a JL 12W0 getting 250 watts rms from a Boston GTA1005 in a Dodge Challenger coupe. I would like more trunk space, so any enclosure over 2 cubic feet will not be considered. The GTA1005 will not be replaced, it puts out 250 rms into 4 ohms and 400 rms into 2 ohms. I was considering the following but will certainly entertain other ideas. Thank you for your opinions and advice. 1. JL stealth box- JL 12W3- 2 ohm 2. 2 Sundown E8s in either ported or sealed. Plan to remove the rear 6 1/2" stock rear fill and fire subs through the rear deck into the cabin. They'll be getting 200 rms each. 3. Single JL 8W7 firing through the factory cut out in rear d…

First off I would like to thank Mark for allowing me to test these at no cost to me. Ok Here it goes. Initial Impression: When I got off of work and walked around to my front door I saw a box that vaguely resembled an extremely used soccer ball. It was brown and taped up and kind of rounded at the corners. I quickly tore into it and got a peek at these things. I can tell you these are built to the highest of quality. No glue on the surrounds, the surround fits perfectly in the sunken surround landing. The bead of glue on the spider was even all the way around. They just looked high quality. Not fancy high quality like a Ferrari, high quality like a cleanly built RX-7 (no…

Hi guyz, I'd like to know a few things: Can the 5" midbass in the Clarus line be bought individually? What is the mounting depth? I have 250rms of clean power, what crossover frequency would you recommend? 125hz @ 18dB ok? or higher? Here's what I am planning: Eclipse CD7200mkII Image Dynamics CD1Ev.3 horns -- DLS A2 HAT Clarus 5" -- DLS A4 bridged Stereo Integrity BM 12" (when released) -- DLS A2 I want to put the subwoofer underneath the driver's seat in my BMW 316ti. Believe I have enough space. Since I am not concerned about subwoofer localization (LP 80hz and less). I can LP the sub higher @ for example 200hz @ 18dB. (I know this is not subwoofer material but just wa…

Where do i even start, when considering a subwoofer? i dont want very loud booming base. just enough to round out the sound. to produce lower frequencies and make it sound better. I have the ability to bridge 2 channels on my amp (Pioneer GM-D8604) for 300 RMS at 4 ohms or 250 RMS at 2 ohms. also, isnt this weird? i thought at a lower ohm, it would be able to produce more power? i guess you use whatever ohm the subwoofer is rated at? any difference between subwoofers rated at 2 ohm vs 4 ohm? What about size of woofer? 8 inch, 10, or 12, etc? i believe larger woofer produces more bass, can be louder. but also requires more RMS to power larger woofers. W…
