Anyone have any reviews/personal experience with em? There a new line off JL. Inexpensive and looking into it. I dont want bright tweeters. And I heard a review that these dont get bright.

  2. So I need help choosing a subwoofer for my manager's car. He has a 2008 Civic 4dr with 2 JL Audio 12W0 in a vented box running off a JL J2.500 amp. He is selling off the subs and box due to the size, it takes half his trunk space (almost no room for golf clubs). He wants to have similar amount of bass in a smaller package and listens from rock to rap music 50/50 SPL SQ. I need some suggestions on what might be good choices to run off 500RMS @ 2ohms (thats what I have to work with). His current subs (http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/part_number=93261/1451.0.1.1) Here are some of my choices I am looking at so far and am thinking sealed. Also the enclosure bu…

2 12's or 2 10's for small 4 dr sedan? (95 geo prizm) I've made up my mind on a subwoofer, I'm going to go with the Image Dynamics Version 2 but i'm not sure wether to get 2 10's or 2 12's. I don't want my trunk to rattle like hell plus I don't want to overpower my front stage. I'm going to have them in a custom built sealed in closure. Front Stage - CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System Sub Stage - IDQ10V2.D4 - Image Dynamics 10" IDQ Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer OR IDQ12V2.D4 - Image Dynamics 12" IDQ Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer Thanks!

I installed them today in the back of the rsx in a sealed box. They are running off a jble 1200.1. So far I havent been pushing them too hard because i want to break them in properly. They are running off the stock head unit spliced into my rear speaker. They wont get very loud but when they do they shake your whole body. They are very accurate and have great response to the fast bass lines. I'll be getting a real head unit next week and be ready to push these to their limits. Sorry for the crappy pic, it was taken at night with a camera phone.

Alright guys I have a problem, my Bravox component set's left side tweeter isn't working. Before I took the door apart I switched the RCA's from left to right and the tweeter was still inoperable. Whenever I would hit a bump the tweeter would crackle and turn on then turn off. The tweeter was confirmed working On low power when i put the tweeter on the amp and it worked perfectly. I'm not sure what went wrong with the X-over seeing how I JUST installed and it had been sitting in my closet since i bought them and it hasn't been exposed to any moisture what-so-ever. I purchased them new from the SSA store some time ago.

Hi, I'm building a box for a 15" BTL. My concern isn't neccesarily the box, but more technical things rather. For example I would like to know how much wattage/rms I can pull from having only one of the 15's. What would be the best way to eliminate distortion when running the speaker? I plan on running a xover so besides that I need help. I'm selling most of my old handmedown stuff and starting fresh. So, Since I don't have anything put together yet, I would like to have some suggestions on the best setup for having only one of these. It's going into the back of my Jeep Cherokee 92'. I have a few box designs up and if I can xfer them to my computer I will post them as soo…

This thread will be the official thread for the new BM series prototypes. When I get back to the office tonight I will post up the T/S's for the 10" version. The 12" version is being built now, and I should have T/S's in a few days (along with the woofer hopefully). I'll post again tonight with the T/S's and then I'll continue to keep this thread updated with all information regarding the new and improved BM series. PS: Chad Hicks has our 10" BM proto and is putting it through its paces right now. I'll post up his thoughts/review when he's done.

  13. I just installed the ctx65cs component set running of an old Memphis amp. They are seeing 55rms and I am not happy with the sound. Tweeters sound muddy whenever the bass hits, and the mids are severely lacking. I've tried everything on the amps adjustments and every level position for the tweeters, -3, 0, +3. The only way they can sound good is with the gain turned down to where they can't keep up with my subwoofer. Before, I ran infinity reference 6x8s and they had more bass, clearer highs, kept up with the subwoofer, and sounded much better than these. And they were running off stock head unit power. I tried bridging them and they sounded the same. What am I doi…

ok. right now i currently have 2 12 inch PG xs series subs that hit pretty hard. but, i want MORE. in feb-march, im thinking im gonna re-do the sub part of my system, so im looking for suggestions as to what brands i should look at. i do want to compete, but, correct me if im wrong, but if you have 15 inchers your in a different class right? i would want to stick with eather 2 or 4 12's, or possibly 2 15's if i can get some killer LSQ/spl from them. these subs would be daily drivers, but not turned all the way up. thanks for all the replys!

I just got my Pioneer PRS components running active on a Rockford Power 600-4 amp and Pioneer P800-PRS head deck. So far I'm quite pleased with the results but it's not perfect. On some songs I notice distortion/light bottoming which I traced to come from the 6.5" mids in the doors, and only when I'm really rocking out I've got them crossed over fairly low, at 80Hz because I've got my sub-stage crossed at 63Hz. I like the way this sounds, I could cross the mids higher and solve this problem but then it sounds like a large hole. I don't want to raise the sub crossover point either to fix this, my subs play pretty sloppy IMO near 80Hz plus I don't like what that does to…

  21. ok. I've been eyeing all kinds of tc varients, the q, the z15 and a bunch of others. Kinda think i've narrowed it down to the q or the z15. Mach5 was around in the top 3 but don't think i can get a 15 from them right now. Have also been looking at ssa dcon. Looking at powering the sub with an arc 2500 xxk on a 4ohm load in the area of 1000w rms. Box isn't built so i don't have anything to work around there except for size limits. Wanting to work within the 36x20x20 inch box size to conserve trunk space. Going ported and thinking of going either slot ported, maybe aero ports, or a transmission line (not saying i know much but know very little about those differences in p…

Well, I just found out today that I'm gettin an '02 Dodge Dakota quad cab for graduation After doing a little searching, there are very few possibilities of having a sub in the truck and not losing any seating space in the rear of the cab (well actually only one - MTX thunderform, but I definitely don't like the looks of it). So I plan to but a small sealed box in the middle of the floor in the rear, on the transmission hump. My question: does anyone have any experience with subs in trucks (mine in particular) and if there is any major difference in sound/output between up-firing, down-firing, forward, ect... I have read that downfiring is the way to go for sealed an…

  24. Hey guys, hoping to get some help or suggestions here, but I'll just introduce myself a little first. I've been reading this forum for a long time though I have not really posted much, and I've basically used it ever since I did my first system about 4 years ago. Like I said, I've been in to car audio for a while, I've done 4 different of my own installs in that time, and have done and helped with many of my mates installs as well, so though I have lots to learn still, I have a fair bit of experience. I live in Australia, so our set-up here is a bit different in terms of brand availability and what we can listen to at shops etc. So, on to the problem. I recently bought …
