i am planning on getting a regular cab chevy colorado within the next few weeks and am starting to plan out the sound system. so far i know the h.u, door speakers and tweeters. but am not sure about the sub, amp or box. i have been looking at ssa and sundown audio. i am more into sq than spl and listen to a variety of music anywhere from rap to metal. and i have a budget for the sub, box, and amp of around 600 to 700. space is the number one issue since its a regular cab, i do not care if there is room in the back i just do not want to have to have the seat pulled up to an uncomfortable position.

A little about me. I have been out of car audio for a while. My last setup was two MMATS audio P3 12's in a ported box which was great in my Ford Ranger. I recently bought a MB Quart Discuss 1500.1 from a member here and ran it at 2ohms to a Hifonics Atlas 12 which blew within two days. That was admittedly my fault for turning the gain up too loud. I have a single cab Dodge Ram and would like to stay with one 12" subwoofer. My usable space is approximately 30"(w)X15"(h)X11"(d) for 2.12^3 ft of space. I would like to run the amp at 1 ohm @1500 watts and can spend around $250-$300 for the sub. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks. Looking for a somewh…

Hello SSA, i recently picked up 2 12" mtx 9500's in a custom HUGE ported enclosure. i have a ext. cab ford ranger and the box is about 6"'s from my roof. the length of the box is fine, but its WAYYYY to deep. i was wondering on what i should do. i had 1 12" mtx 9500 in the sledgehammer ported box and it sounded AMAZING in my truck. i know alot of people say the sledgehammer boxes are hsit, but for osme reason it sounds really good in my truck. i cant find the sledgehammer boxes anywhere, so i decided to just build my own. iv never built a box befor. i have all of the tools to do it and all the materials in my garage ready to be cut. i have a good amount of knowledge when …

I'm getting 2x DC Audio 15" LVL4 XL's for my '91 Acura Integra.... My plan is to build a 7ft3 box tuned to 30hz and fire the subs up (closer to the front of the car..about where the back seat would normally be) and the port up (closer to the rear glass)... I'm gonna push em with 2x Hifonics BRZ2400.1D's @ 1ohm.... my question is kinda simple... more or less, an opinion from experience... has anyone ran sub up, port up...and if so, how did it sound? I always ran sub up, port back or sub back, port back... this is my first time firing both up. I'm thinking it should hit nicely off that hatch. Just wanted to get experienced opinions. Thanks guys.

Sorry, I already know I Posted this in the Fabrication section, but I forgot to make a poll out of it. So I went to go edit it and then I got to thinking, which section should I put this in to get the most attention? So Mod's if you feel necessary, please delete the one you think would attract the least amount of attention, but Id like to have the Poll. Hey guys, I am in the talks with Steve, the owner of Subthump.com. They make some of the best sealed prefabbed boxes I have ever dealt with. They are simply amazing, the prices are budget friendly. Their main focus are on sealed boxes, because they aim at the people who are on a budget and they can mass produce. So I have…

Hey guys, so my girlfriends brother has a trans am and is trying to find a sub to go in it. the problem is he doesn't want to lose the t-top space in the back which means no box for a sub. In his car there is a board that seals off the hole where the sub is sitting. When the trunk is shut, it's sealed off. Anyways my question is what's a good sub to use for a set up like this? (10in under $200) (not his trunk, just pic for reference) Thank you.

Ok so Im debating and I cant decide. Whether Xs or DCONs, each sub will be Single 4ohm so I can pair both and get a final load of 2 ohm (= 1000watts from my Sundown 2000D) Yes, this will be an ~8 month temporary setup while in the meantime I upgrade the electricals on a soon-to-be new car that I will be getting etc. Since my final setup will consist of 2 18s, it will take some time to have the car "ready" and honestly, my single 12 is not cutting it for now. Specially when I just upgraded my front stage with a Boss Rev. 665 amp. The bass can barely be felt. I dont know what are the advantages of going for the Fi X or the DCONs. All I can see is that the X have 2mm more of…

Well, I'm going to need some PA mids to blend with my crescendo supertweets. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-422 I'm looking at these, they are 8 ohms. My plan is to split the power of my rear two channels of my Arc Audio FD4.150. It's rated 160 per channel at 2 ohms. I currently have Type R 6x9s on them, and I wish them to remain on the channel. Assuming I hook up 2 of those Selenium mids + a type r 6x9 per channel, the amp will see a two ohm load correct? 1/(.125+.125+.25)=2. And each speaker will be receiving ~53 watts (of course not continuous) correct? This seems like it should work but I'm not positive...

When I was planing out my current system, I almost (like had them in the cart and didn't buy) some planar transducers and glassed them up on the A pillars or in the kicks of my Yukon. I decided against them based on some things I read about the diaphragm being so fragile. I read claims about air and heat damaging the diaphragm so I decided against that. I did have a set of Infinity towers way back that had a EMIT ribbon and I really enjoyed the sound. Unfortunately me being young and not having enough power on tap, I blew the EMIT's a couple of times and finally sold them for something that would get louder on my power. Wish I had those back now that I could take better…

I was looking to get 8" or 10" (quantity 2) subs that would compare to my 12" SI Mag. As you know, caraudio is addicting and I'm always looking for new ideas. This happens to be my latest one. I was thinking 4 Bravox PXW 8" in 2.4cuft @ 33hz, but am not too sure. Then I was also thinking 2 used SA-8s. My third idea is two 10s. Max cuft = 2.7cuft net Power options = 500 @4ohm, 900 @2ohm, 1200 @1ohm. Budget = $150 I want to have the same or more SQ/Loudness as my 12" Mag or previous 12" SSA Icon. Might not be do-able, but would like to hear your guys input!

I built a 10cu ft box last year with a 12" port 17" long two free ends for a 35Hz tune last year for a guy. He never paid up. He was planning on two Fi BTL 18's and an AP30001D. What is the cheapest sub that would perform decent in it? People around here either don't have money and want me to find them stolen gear for dirt cheap, or they waste it at the local shops and get crap for eighteeen times their value. When summer comes I'll get people beating down my door, I need to sell this box, whats the cheapest subs I can drop in there yet still get decent performance with a cheap 1000 watt amp? Mind you none of these people will have $$$ to get a solid 2kw-3kw amp, nor BTL…

Not sure if that first three post rule really applies but here goes my first.. Just purchased new Acura tl and have the following dimensions to work with for an 18 of these subs: Xcon FI q Fi btl n3, sq options Havoc 18 rl-p Firing towards hatch(20h x 32w x 32d) Firing towards trunk (16h x 32w x 40d) Can power with whatever amount needed, have some amps bsheeted ~1650, but can purchase new and probably will for SQ reasons. My plan is a smaller ported box tuned very low with plenty of port area that I can plug to make a large sealed with added blocks inside, possibly a horn or QW for competition in future. All boxes will be firing thru the rear middle hatch and sealed off…

okay here is the deal I have the zcon 18" in a 7 cubic box tuned to 33hz and I am pushing this woofer with a SAZ3K. The gain is put to match the radio and I have it tuned accordingly. Every Time I turn my radio up to full tilt the MASSIVE BOOM COMES FROM THE BACK! I dont know what it is but it is pushing a ridiculous amount of AIR through out my car and is making all the cars within a 7 car radius very upset with me. But thats only where the problem starts. The OUTPUT on this woofer with 3k is just so PURE my ears almost cant handle it. but the problem doesnt even start there!!!! HERE IS THE PROBLEM! THIS WOOFER LOOKED AT ME TODAY AND SAID I WANT I DIDNT KNOW THEY COULD…

Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade my stock speakers to something that can keep up with my Q. I am looking for a set of components for no more than $300. Best bang for the buck. From your guys' experience, could you inform me of some good brands to look into? The only problem is, is that I would like to mount it into my 5.25" stock location. I have been thinking a lot about Image Dynamics and I have read the reviews here about them. Any advice on what I should choose?
