this may be in the wrong section so mods plz move it if needed ok. substage sounds absolutely amazing but i'm tired of turning the sub volume down so i can hear my frontstage. which is bose btw (ftl!). sooo.... time for an amp and some comps! i am getting around 1200 clean watts to my Q. what kind of power should i need up front to match or at least keep up with my sub? no real budget here... just because i have no idea what kind of money i will need to spend. once i figure out what power i should need, then i will figure a budget lol... i can see the answers now... Alrighty, I got one of my MJ-18Ms back and now I'm looking to make a box for them for the mini-van. The dimensions I have to work with are 45" wide, 48" deep, and 22" tall. I'll be tuning hopefully no higher than 31 or 32 hz. These will be powered by a memphis 4k. I need to get a box designed by tomorrow morning when I will be starting the build. I have only one day to get this box done, so hopefully all goes well. Subs will be facing up, and I'm guessing slot port to the back. Any suggestions at all? I should have 24 cubes before all displacements at that size, but I'll probably shrink it down. It all depends how well things work out. I will have no time tonight to thin…

Well I have a SI 12" sub thats been in my room all winter waiting to be installed. Well then early spring I decided to change almost my entire system. I now have a Arc Audio 2500XXK to run my sub. This is one sick powerful amp at 1 Ohm which I plan to run that way for 1050+ watts. Anyway, I entertained the idea of putting 2 12" subs in my car, but then realized due to space problems in my trunk, that would not be a good idea. So now I am wondering with that amp, should I go with a single 15" instead? I assume the box would be a little bigger, then the box for the 12" but not nearly as big as what two 12" would take up!

  6. Well...I've never heard the SI Mag D2...but from what I read it sounds amazing. Help me imagine it. Compare the sub to an IDMAX or SoudSplinter rl-p or Alpine Type R or 12W7. Thanks in advance...I look forward to the replies as I am a bit excited by what you may say about it.

I picked up 2 re sex10 subs for super cheap and would like to know if its possible to recone them to SSA con recone kit? I'd like to try doing a recone but would rather not do a nice new sub. I know its probably dumb but is it possible? Both are 4 layer 3" VCS but I'm sure gap etc would come into play. Thanks

I'm thinking about switching components. Hybrid Audio sounds what I am looking for. Anyone have experience with them and want to give me some output on them. It is a passive setup BTW.

Hey guys, it's been awhile... anyway, i traded in my component speakers and selenium supertweeters for earthquake sound midbass drivers and supertweeters +$40 @ my local audio store. at first i thought it was a good deal (i felt i had to much high's with the supertweeters and tweeters off component set..) so i'm thinkin.. mids in front, highs in back, lows in trunk. yeah! but now idk lol what do you guys think of this setup? mids and highs are powered by my kicker zx 350.4 and my sa10 is powered by my kicker zx 400.1 (underpowered, i know.) i installed the earthquake supertweeters but i havent installed the mids yet, i will do that tomorrow.. as for the highs, they …

I am looking for 2 LSQ subwoofers... Amplifier power: 2x strapped SAZ-1500D Minimum ohmage would be somewhere around 2 ohms. So the subwoofers will get approx. 1500W RMS each. I will be running them sealed, I do not like the ported sound. I used to own 2 RE XXX subwoofers (the first generation) and I really loved them. Unfortunately I had to sell them. But now I am back and want something similar in return. So can anyone give me good advice? [edit typos] Cannot edit my typos... I meant of course: S Q L subwoofers...

hey guys on Fi's site I was lookin at their 12 inch IB3's and its not showing any cubic feet spec's for a ported box...... why not? I was thinkin about gettin those instead of the SSD's because they call for a lower rms and the xmax is more..... and they're a lil cheaper too.

Ok, so I already have two 12" Alpine Type R's. I am deciding that it is about time to finally upgrade the sound system. These are the three plans I am coming up with: 1) Buy two more Type R's and another amp, and run four twelves. 2) Sell the R's and the amp and buy two more powerful 12's and a new amp. 3) Sell the R's and the amp and buy two 15's and a new amp. This is all in a 1993 Range Rover LWB.

To make a long story short, since I started installing, I have been playing around with a few idea, and I am going to switch up my front stage. I currently have a set of JL XR5x7 coaxial speakers running off a Rockford 800a2 (Way overkill of an amp for a front stage but it leaves a lot of headroom). My buddy is selling off his set of Adire Kodas and I am thinking that would be a good route to go. The plan is to run the Kodas Passive off the Rockford amp and sound deaden my doors. I am thinking of going with some new type of deadener of the outer door skin called Black Hole and Dynamat on the inner door skin and seal everything off. The only problem is there are no g…

I have two 15" L7s and im not very satisfied with them and im getting rid of them. I listen to all rap so i want a spl setup but i think i either want two 15" or one 18" sub. Price doesnt really matter. but i dont want to redo all my electrical because i dont plan on keeping the car i have. I was thinking maybe an icon or fi or re or mayb alpine type rs. and i would need suggestions on an amp as well. thanx

  19. I am wondering which amp setup would be better to run on some.mid range bass door speakers and tweeters? I see a lot of people running 4 channel ones but wanted to know everyone's input on them considering I have a 2 channel just sitting here at home that hasn't seen any power yet.

Well I purchased 2 15" ssa Icons from mark Drove all the way out from cali to arizona to pick them up... Put them in a crappy premade enclosure.. They have like 1.8 cft each if that.... more like 1.5... And lets just say they are amazing.... I can't wait to get them in a ported enclosure... They are in a 2003 pontiac vibe.. I broke my front winshield a piech of glass broke off and was stuck to my rear view mirror so theres a chunk of glass missing now were my rear view mirror is supposed to be... Anyways I'm going to be trading my car for a 64 Impala SS.. I will be most likely purchasing 2 more 15's and taking the back seats out of the impala the interior is shot anyways…

  22. Currently I have a Boston Acoustics G512-44 on a Rockford P1000-1bd. I have it sealed, running at 2-ohm, I like the way it sounds. I listen to mostly rock/rap, with the occasional classic rock and R&B. My goals are to have more output, but still keep accuracy. I really enjoy a tight double bass, and love the deep bass from rap. My G5 plays double bass really good, and hits lows alright. I know I could build a ported box and try that first, but I would like to try something new. Height wise, I cannot fit a 15 inch sub into my trunk, but do have quite a bit of room in there. I would like to stay sealed box, and maybe run two 12's or something. What would be yo…

Hey guys - I wanted to take just a second and say hi and tell you a little about me, Daber Audio, and planned future products. I'm an audio junkie, drag racing fan, father of two, married, guy from central Illinois. When I was a little kid (probably about two years old) my dad had an Pionner/Technics/Marantz home stereo set up. I loved to sit and watch the equalizer (digital display) and thought the lines moving up and down were stick people dancing. I then figured out there was a correloation between what sound was being played and which "stick people" danced. So there it began, the obsession. As I got a little older I started getting in to home hifi, then a natural prog…

The SI website says that it recommends 3.5ft^3 tuned to 27hz for the 15" and that the RMS is 975w. Would it be ok in a 4.06ft^3 enclosure tuned to 34hz running off of a solid 1200w rms? Oh yeah....wuddup Denim?!
