Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Started by Wall_Breaker,

Ok I am majorly confused about about how to do a good front stage. Just to give you an idea I am planning on getting a 18" BTL with the SD3000D in a 8 cubic foot box. I have boon looking at all kinds of speaker and I want to get a set of 6.5" components with 1" tweeters. I will probably go passive for now because it is easier and im not that SQ oriented. I mainly want something that will keep up with the sub. So what is all this 2-3-4 way stuff it has me so confused. What is better and why? Also I have 6x9's in the rear deck but I have heard rear fill sounds like chit with subs. So would it be good to get like a set of 8" or 10" midbass drivers to mount back there?

I'm planning on installing two 15 inch Fi Qs in a sealed enclosure and I am looking for a good set of components for my front stage that will be able to "keep up" with the sub stage. Thanks in advance.

So here's the scoop. I have A 2004 Dodge Ram quad cab that i plan on outfitting this spring, and I am very indecisive so I figure I better start planning things out now. I have learned from this forum and my own mistakes to start with the front stage, so that's where I'm at. Right now there are 6x9s in the front and 5.25s in the rear. I am thinking of doing 6.5 componants up front and just leaving the rear alone, unless it is greatly beneficial. I guess my first question is active or passive. I have never run active, but if the sound difference will be noticebale than it's worth it to me. The head unit right now is an alpine 9886, I do not have the imprint option f…

  5. Here it goes, I finally got back into town and off my butt and am installing my front stage. After a month of looking at the compromises, I have decided to go with tweeters in the A-pillar (Alpine D2904/610001) and to mount my SEAS (W18E001) in the kicks. Being my car is a 5 speed I couldn't lose much foot space either so the directional mounting won't be optimal, but surely a lot better than stock! Three pictures for this post: 1) My bare kicks--drilled to accept glass 2) My baffles--the glue is still drying so I can't do anything 3) My kicks reinforced with glass and a hole chopped for lining up my drivers with the open area in my fenders--to be vented so they will …

Alight yall, Since my Bravox mid has a slowly growing tear in the surround I decided to get some opinions on what to do. Overall goals 1. A very well versed front stage that is able to be very loud. 2. Able to sustain good midbass (50/60 hz and up) while not sounding extremely harsh. 3. Able to play everything from rap, to rock, to classical, etc. 4.a passive set that works well off axis, as the bravox sounded the best off axis. Options 1. A simple passive Midwoofer and tweeter combination, 6.5" mid and tweeter. 2. A midbass in the door and a horn combination under the dash, This would be ran actively through probably something like a Sundown Audio 100.4 (onboard x-over)…

Last year I purchased a set of Image Dynamics CTX-65CS for my front stage. I was running them on an AQ200.2 amp. The right side tweeter kept blowing so ID upgraded me to the XS-28 tweets and the matching crossovers from the CSX set. Well, after 3 more attempts the tweets kept blowing. They said it must be something wrong with my amp, so I swapped the amp for my Kenwood KAC-7005PS. I bridged the channels to get 100 watts per side so that overpowering should not be an issue. Well, after the warranty ran out my last replacement came in. It lasted a week. I don't know what the problem could be unless the driver on that side was bad, sending the incorrect ohms to the tweets. T…

Hey guys, I got a friend looking to upgrade her factory front stage. She was thinking about these... http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...roducts_id=1466 http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...roducts_id=1125 These will be powered with a RF 800.4. I'm not sure about this at all. The budget is around what it would cost for the speakers mentioned. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. She listens to a lot of R&B and alternative rock. Just looking for a clean sound up front.

I am planning on working on my front stage to get ready for my system how does a $1000 budget sound for 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, amp wiring, head unit, and maybe even crossovers I may be able to pull a couple hundred more dollars but if this budget sounds too low then what am I looking at paying. I am hoping on saving money by just buying a good amp at a low price so what kind of amp would be good at about 60 watts x 6 at 4 ohms. I was looking at Boston components but only crutch field carries them and they dont have that great of a selection of them so what other brand is good I don't need attached tweeters I have a place for them on the doors.

  11. Alright so I'll give you guys some backround information. I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport. 180 amp singer alt and xs d5100r under the hood, and 2 xs xp3000's in the hatch. 2 soundqubed 2200s strapped @ 2 ohms (each seeing 1 ohm) pushing 2 hdc315's in a 10 ish cu ft box tuned to 32hz. I don't k now how much port area there is, but it's a lot. These things get low. Sometimes I wish I tuned a little higher, but that's a whole other topic. I haven't played many test tones but on music I've been metered at 153.8 and as high as 149.9 @ 29hz. My mids and high keep up with the bass, but they're missing that "wow" factor. People that don't know anything about car audio will be blown…

I have been looking around for a front end system now that I have my sub almost ordered. I know I need tweeters and other types of speakers to get this done. What do you guys recommend? I know there's 6 speakers total inside the car. My main questions are: 1) What brand and style of speakers 2) Is there a website I can look at for what size my speakers are? I have goggled around for a day with no luck... 3) I am (going to) use the SAX-50.4 amp. Would I want to use something different? This is just what was suggested to me. 4) Should I get a Component speaker? Or something different? I would like this to be pretty simple and not drawn out. What are you guys using? Did you …

here we are again with more doubts in my mind about the amp I have in my single cab truck with the subs I want. Ive gottin it down to where Im torn between the Fi X 10's series and the Fi SSD 10's series. The X series is signifacntly cheaper but only has the BP power option on it, whereas the SSD has alot more capable. my budget is at $400 and I am getting a custom ported box designed accordingly that fit 2 10's. (yes I am possitive I can get enough proper cubic volume to match either of these subs behind my seat.) If I chose the SSD's, getting all of the available options to maximize its ability, it is out of my $400 range. so thats my predicament, get the BP power…

Well this weekend has been eventful. I was sure I wasn't going to have enough time to do all 3 and I was correct in my assumption. However, I took a giant stab at it and have took some pics along the way. I have been doing this a little at a time so if you have any advice then by all means. This is my first attempt at reconing any sub and I will be the first to tell you that if anyone uses as much glue as what came on these things then just let someone else do it if the price is negligible. It's different if the sub/motor is worth reconing to begin with, but what the hell I need to learn anyway right? So to start things off let's take a look at the culprits. Ok, s…

I've heard a few subs make a funky sound when more power is applied to them that just doesn't sound like the bass the artist put in the song. On low volumes its fine. On higher volumes It sounds like the sub is puking. I hate that sound and i turn the bass down to when its gone. I've heard it mostly on punchy bass, long drawn out bass is usually fine. What causes this, is it when a sub exceeds its xmax or is that overrated in knowing what the sub sounds like as well? That's my only guess. I haven't heard lots of different subs but all the ones i heard did it.
