  1. Those JBL BP amps are solid enough. You will gain nothing.
  2. do u think that this event is going to have a bigger turnout than the one in boston like two weeks back?
  3. Next Saturday is the Annual Diamond Detailing Car Show and SPL SoundOff in Raynham Mass. Registration begins at 11am and the show runs til 8pm. All the details are on our website, New England SPL.com Just to give you an idea of what the trophies are going to look like for this show, the one on the left is what we're doing for 1st place, and the one on the right is our normal 1st place trophy. Think it's gonna be worth it?
  4. Seas is even conservative. 550Hz FS with a minimum cross point recommendation of 1500Hz. 3x Fs is really the safest, but you will need to do what the ER tells you. I would expect the ER to stay rather composed in your doors up rather high though
  5. At this point you need to just ignore what Zaph says as the application is very different. Here are a few tidbits (all with exceptions of course): -I'd never use 24dB slopes on my front stage, try 6 or 12 -I'd never cross my tweeter and mid at the same frequency. Instead you need to underlap them -I've never run all four drivers (2way) on the same phase -It is always best to listen to one mid and peg its limits, then one tweet and peg its limits. You cannot hear what you need to when everything is going -Only use cuts on your EQ, not boost -When starting with the tweet, keep in mind that 2x the Fs is probably as low as you want to go....unless of course your mid forces you two. This would cause an exception to the first tidbit -Use your ears -- fuck other people it is your system -Less is more when it comes to the eq. Some warble tones to find hotspots in your FR is helpful. Oh as for your 24dB+24dB setting. It will give you a crossover with some serious phase delay and a slope of somewhere between 24 and 48dB depending on how symmetrical they are.
  6. Been messing around with the speakers today. I realized that the amps were still set for the old speakers with a HP/LP of 4500Hz so it was definitely screwing with the sound . What happens when you stack a 24db slope on a 24 db slope? I currently have the 27TD crossed at 2800Hz HP 24db slope and the ER18's at 2800Hz 12db slope. Zaph audio states he did the crossover as an asymmetrical 4th order Linkwitz-Riley at 1750 Hz. From what I gathered this is a 24db slope crossed at 1750, but I don't know what asymmetrical means. I'm also a little weary of dropping that low just for the fact that I blew my DLS tweets at there factory crossover point with what I thought was not too much power. I'm going to work them up and down and get time alignment set and see what I like but I was just looking for opinions on crossing those bad boys at something as low as 1750.
  7. I have a RF T500-1bd and I want to try one of these pairs of 10s ported. My girlfriend bought my sealed dcon 12s off me for a great price! Please correct me if I'm wrong, the size of a ported enclosure determines how efficient it will be? I'm going to throw of one these in 1.5 cubes each chamber tuned to 33hz - 34hz. If you've had experience with either of these subs I'de love your input. Is anyone able to tell which of these would be louder? This is the last time I'm going to ask this, I'm either choosing one or the other due to which ever gets more votes.
  8. Should work fine. Smaller just pushes the enclosures resonance up a little higher. With 1.8 cuft tuned to 33Hz, it will push the peak up closer to 39Hz. In car with the vehicles transfer function it will still perform great down to 30Hz (where you should have the subsonic set). If you went up to 2.2 cuft your same tuning, it would be at about 26Hz for the peak. Slightly higher (about .5 dB) efficiency as well. All in all it should perform fine for a solid daily driving setup. Thanks, Scott
  9. I had a box designed by chris at fishercustoms, and here is what he came up with: The total Net volume came out to be 1.8cu ft exactly, a 1.74" x 14" port tuned to 33hz, 13.53 sq in of port per cu ft, and I have a couple questions: 1. Is that too small for a 12" Fi Q? They do recommend a minimum of 1.8, but i'm worried this box won't make it sound good because the net volume is too small. 2. What happens if the box is too small? 3. Whats the difference between having a larger box versus a smaller box? Like having a 2.2 versus 1.8? Most of the videos I see online of this sub have a box larger than 2.2 cu ft, and their car is basically falling apart. Any help would be great. I want to know this box will sound good for a 12" Fi Q before I tell someone to build it for me
  10. I've been curious about the Xcons for a while now. How much louder are they than the Icons? Would an Xcon 12 in a 2 -3 cube ported tuned to 33hz powered by a Sundown 1500D be louder than an Icon 15 ported in about 4.5 cubes tuned to 33hz powered by a Sundown 1000 watt amp?
