  1. I have owned 3 different sundown amps so far and i have been nothing but impressed. Ive talked to Jake in person on many occasions and even had him take a look at the amp and set it up for me when i was have some issues. Nothing but the best customer service and top quality products. All amps produce far more than rated and even do it it voltages that would surprise you. My 1200d, 1500d, and my 3000d have put down 200rms+ more than rated at 12.8-13v. This was real world testing as well not on a bench with mass amounts of batters. Last time i clamped my 3000d it did 2890 at 1.8ohm with the meter reading 12v. Find an amp that does almost rated power at almost twice the independence its rated to do it at. Also did a 1500d with just a red top. i got 1300w at 1.9ohm and supply was 11.3v. If that doesn't speak for the amps i dont know what does. As for the sound quality aspect you wont notice a thing unless you have an extremely trained ear and even then i doubt you can clearly tell. Everyone that's had a chance to sit in my car has said how amazing it sounds even had numerous competitors compliment on it. When it comes down to it you get what you pay for and in sundowns case you actually get more than you pay for.
  2. I can not tell you how impressed i am with x-cons. Ive owned many drivers all have had there pros and cons. I can really find none when its comes to the x-con. It really is a masterpiece. If your looking for the best of both worlds then id go as far as to say look no further. Its sq is simply amazing and the output will blow your mind. I need to get a new video to show you guys the amount of output the are capable of and i wish i could let you hear in person how good they sound doing it.
  3. This is one of the problems with companies providing specs like this, THD is one of those specs that people pay alot of attention to not realizing that even if it were 5-10% you still wouldn't be able to hear it.

Make correct grounds, the factory ground always sucks, as well as the seatbelt.

Unfortunately "worth" is a matter of perspective. Amplifiers are not really that important in the grand scheme of things, so I personally look for the most affordable amp that has the features, quality and power that I'm looking for. DD normally doesn't fall within that criteria for me personally. Others however may feel they are well worth any premium paid compared to more affordable amplifiers.
  6. i never knew that the xcon took after the icon. all i knew was that it had good output and that ssa tends to make good sq products. so relax a little Im very well relaxed, it just would help if you did some research first and read up on each sub you will notice the Xcon is all about sound quality: ICON Series Subwoofers XCON Series Subwoofers That is why there are reviews on this site and even reviews under the SSA section on this forum talking about the Xcon and its output matched with sound quality.
  7. kind of a vague question....when you ask "would it matter" in what way are you meaning?
  8. Was that a pun? Maybe we should have used the 25% coverage method ?
  9. NO & Dallas both lose this week.

I am sorry but it sounds like you don't even deserve one of these subwoofers..but that's my .o2
  11. Also to add for future reference, I would like the inside of the port painted black, the outside a dark charcoal, and the inside covered with a really light charcoal carpet that matches the outside but a lot lighter in color, since I plan on putting a neon on the inside.
  12. That and many of these OE units are controlling more then just the audio, so the swap would effect other systems.

Good to see ya cliff here on SSA lol!!! Can't wait to get the Season under way. Like Steve says see ya in the lanes!!!
  14. I have not seen to much other than burp from the dd z ... my self i wonder what a z would do in a 35 hz 5 cube box ... to be honest i would like to put 4 warden 15's in my ride and see what happens ... pretty sure it would be an awsome ride ... I also have seen a few vids on the d/p's and they look like and awsome driver aswell ... long story short id put my bets on the warden being a force to be reckin with .. the d/p's and wardens are bad azzz
  15. I dont know anyones background, but most people go on hear say, dont be fooled, the DDZ was made for spl, but it does sounds pretty good on music. Have I heard better sounding subs, of coarse, example the UL12. But over all it does sound pretty good. As being over priced, I think DD can do a little better on that end. But overall it is a pretty stout, good sounding and strong woofer. And in my experience, the woofer represents more than 3% of the set up. The box is definitely the main focus of any system setup (SQ or SPL). However, the woofer would be around the 15-20% mark. Because I have built boxes for a particular sub, then using the same box and switched out the sub and go up 1.5 db. That is a 50% gain in spl. I think power is the lowest factor or the scale. Example, any particaular box design, change sub can give you a 1.5db increase, change port design can give you a 3 db increase. Go back to the orginal sub and box setup, increase power you may get a slight change in db or no db gain. So the db's are MAINLY in the box tuning and sub, not power. Has anyone ever made a box, tested it and the amp is reading 6kw and your score is in the toilet?! But if you have an efficient box design and loud sub, then and only then does the power make a difference. More efficient setup(box and sub) is the key, not power. Power takes care of itself. So I do agree the majority of the work must go into the set up, however I would break it down like this. Box 70% Sub 20% Power 10% Just my opinion! And I would buy one, however, not talking chit, I already have the DDZ12, I am already close to 156 (actually 155.9) in street A. If I can get a guarranteed return if the Warden is not louder than the DDZ, then I will buy one. If I needed to get a neo sub, if I didn't already have one, yes the warden would be the first choice.
  16. No your not hurting me and yes it matters, why would someone say this box is better when we dont have all the box's specs. If you want to know which is better off of dimensions then the one that fits nicely and has the amount of space you want leftover once the box is in. Why do people get emotional, it is just a post take your skirt off. It doesnt make sense if there is not enough information to make an accurate judgment. Please read new member guidelines before posting again, none of your topics follow those guidelines. Thanks.
  17. Why does it matter?? Am I hurting you?? If I am sorry
  18. How bout making this topic after you added in port volume, sub displacement, bracing and so on.
  19. How long will it take for my purchased item to come if I just bought it today?
  20. The dimensions are on the same website that you purchased your sub from, you should of measure your max dimension before you bought to 18"s to make sure they even fit
  21. OK so I ordered 2 Fi BL 18"s and I just really hope I can put them in my 96' Blazer. But I don't know the dimensions for a ported box are. So if anyone can please help i would appreciate it a lot thanks!
  22. I hope you are joking cause this is the backasswards way of doing it. Anyhoo, you should measure the max dimensions of your blazer and come back with that. Then you can start planning an enclosure size and all that.

  30. What do you guys think would be best for 2 fi Bl 18" box wise. 26"H x 37"W x 30"D giving it 14 cubic feet 24"H x 36"W x 40"D giving it 17 cubic feet 24"H x 34"W x 45"D giving it 18 cubic feet I am going to be getting 2 AQ1200d for each sub. I want it to hit pretty hard. I will be posting up some pics of the build that will get chosen the most. Thanks!
