  1. All this talk of power handling in relation to box size, why has there been no mention of frequency response differences between box sizes yet? Larger enclosures generally have a lower f3 point as well as a shallower rolloff below that, and therefore generally play lower. That means the frequency response graph is more flat. There's also the transient response aspect of different enclosures. Some people say smaller enclosures have better transient reponse, but going too small can be detrimental as well.

I had a friend asking about subs, he mentioned the IDQ3 and Type R, but the IDQ was out of his budget. So I mentioned the Icon and Dcon, and sent him the link to this thread!

There are many more important things to consider than sensitivity. The change in relative output could simply be a difference in frequency response and wholly unrelated to the sensitivity. It's also important to consider how the sensitivity was rated as there are many things that can be done that makes two different "rated" sensitivities not directly comparable. I would look for performance within the intended bandwidth, distortion performance, how the T/S fit with your intended use, etc long before I considered sensitivity. As for drivers, what is your budget?

    Dude quit posting these threads.
  7. You may want to re-think your budget and choice of subwoofers. Take a look in the SSA store for some nice combo packages. You will be happier. X2 on the Knu wiring kits! Take a look at this .... http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/SSA-Dcon-12D4-%282%29-%252b-Sundown-Audio-SAX%252d125.2-Combo.html
  8. Happy Fathers Day Everyone!!
  9. Bass boost is really ONLY so bad because it gets completely abused. The idea behind having bass boost is really just a selling point from days gone by. It was originally used to bring up bass frequencies that were almost non existent in the music of them olden days. Today's music is recorded much differently and the need for BB is just not there, but from a sales standpoint, if you didn't know ANYTHING about car audio (and lets face it, the majority of people out there really don't) and were shopping for amps. If amp A had a bass boost, and amp B didn't chances are you'd buy amp A cuz it seems better cuz it has more features.

Beethoven's Egmont overture. I played this, along with Tschaikovsky's Marche Slave and Saint-Saens' Intro & Rondo Capriccioso in A minor in Carnegie Hall in new york my senior year, what an experience! For the third song we had James Garlick play with us, he graduated from my high school and has gone big. He plays crazy good. http://www.cascadesymphony.org/Garlick.htm <- info on him (classical music day, doing homework )
