  2. Me and a buddy were driving around the other day and he was taking some videos this is the only one we got up but enjoy. The DC alternator made a huge difference cant wait for a bigger amp one day.
  3. Man I gonna steal yo shit dog jk but in all seriousness no know cares how much it rattles or if sounds like 200 18"s, numbers from a tl are "impressive" Get a dmm and check your voltage before you end up ruining your amp man.
  4. Ok, stop posting. Please? Jesus Christ
  5. you will learn the consequences REAL quick if you keep doing that
  6. No need to restate shit....
  7. I really appreciate all of the kind words and the sentiment behind this initiative but I voted "no". , not really, I didn't vote at all It's probably not a good idea though. For one thing, another company already has a sub-forum. Having two competing businesses represented could cause complications that we don't need. Beyond that, I'm uncomfortable with the structure. I'd rather try and give the best advice I can regardless of the products someone chooses to use. What I'd suggest for consideration is a brand agnostic sound deadening sub-forum. That would bring all of the relevant posts into one place and to be selfish about it, would make things easier for me to monitor. I do check in a few times a day but frequently miss threads that I would like to post in. This way anybody can participate whether they want to offer advice or take a position that would otherwise be looked at with hostility in a brand specific forum. I also don't want to be put in a position where I'm expected to hawk my products. I don't make a lot of announcements and have a Web site when I do. Just seems like a more constructive way to go about things. Really flattering though
  8. Overall... the ambient noise from outside is still very low, however while playing my radio loud and closing it all up it's pretty much quiet. Although the car it's self is quite quiet. I could be driving down the highway going 80 with the windows down, roll them up and it's quiet pretty much instantly very little road noise. Great product, very thick, goes on easy i suggest SDS to ANYONE who is looking for an alternative to SecondSkin, Dynamat, Etc. I thank don for such great CS and for making such a great product, overall it took me about 3.5-4 hours total for both doors i may be adding more to the tight places but i have yet to decide. The only negative was it's sharp as razor blades and it's difficult to cut with a utility knife! Both cannot be prevented but that's a good thing!
  9. By far the easiest door to take apart. factory deadening, it was really gooey and probably the same thickness as heavy duty foil Door mostly complete Complete! Factory deadening, as you can tell very thin foil but lots of a rubber compound, I don't think it's asphalt based because it has little to no odor same as the SDS

Jk I really like the new Camaro SS personally.
  11. Easy, JL has a thing on their amps where it is suppose to automatically sense when the music is on and then turns on the amp as soon as it recieves signal from the HU. There is a way to bypass that on the side of the amp. I use to have that amp and sometimes mine wouldn't sense very good so it might not turn on until turned up louder and sometimes wouldn't shut off for a while cuz It was slow at realizing my system was off and needs to turn off. Hopefully that is it. I forgot which setting that is but look it up online in the manual for the amp cuz you can turn that sensor thing off and have it as always on like from the remote wire turn on instead.
  12. Finally got a little bit of free time Saturday afternoon. I did a mad thrash to get this in for a little get together with some pals. Here is a mock up shot. I'm taking out the amps powering the inside speakers and using the amp built in the MS8 to power them instead. It wouldn't be a mad thrash with out a little south Texas rain in the mix. I had to move the whole operation into the garage. With the amps out and the MS8 in place it was just a matter of wiring things up. Here is the finished product. The setup is pretty straight forward. First is the sub. It'll ask how many outputs you're going to use. Then you'll set a subsonic filter frequency, then a subsonic filter slope. After that you'll set the low pass crossover frequency and slope. Then you'll setup the front, center if applicable and rear speakers in similar fashion. From there you'll assign which output will run what speaker. After that you'll calibrate the system with the groovy headphone/microphones. A quick tone will play from each speaker. You'll do this for all the seating positions you'll want to setup. I did the driver and passenger. The sound? Pretty impressive. I finally got a decent center stage. Mind you I'm running 3-1/2" co-ax in the stock/dash location. My problem has been the the gauge cluster blocks the driver's side speaker, focusing the sound directly to my left ear. Another issue the MS8 solved is my rear fill. Before the rear speakers overpowered the front stage. Now the rear speakers come in softly. All in all, I'm pretty happy with what the MS8 has been able to do with my setup. I can't wait to step up to a proper front stage. (wink, wink) Guess what's next. Viva la old school. Peace.
  13. Lol thanks guys!!!! This is actually my first attempt on making door panels lol. Doors panels arent done yet, but i need them back on for testing.
  14. Started with the body filling: I forgot to take a picture or two, but I smoothed the body filling out before I left it to dry. It looked a lot more even. I'm going to do it once more to fill the small cracks, and then it should be good for painting.
  15. Some other toys the ups guy brought me
  16. I shot a couple vids while my son answered all the questions. Sorry if they are a little dark.
  17. Was starting to get dark by the time we finished getting the tank back in, but were we done no we had to take it for a cruise and see if we fixed it. So we drove to a spot downtown were a lot of folks hang out. Kind of a 1st time debut. 20. Here are the updates: About the time me got ready to put on the hood and spoiler we started having some problems with fuel supply. Car had been running fine now comes the problems. As I allready new the car had been sittind for a while before we got it and I should have known, but when it had been running so well didn't think it would be a problem. The fuel in the tank had turned to crap and was stopping up the pick-up for the fuel pump. So, knowing the tank had to come out and dealing with the battery situation it got the best of me so it sat for a few days. Sorry son. After my mind had cleared it is back to it..... Here finally are shots of the spoiler on the car: By sefugi at 2010-09-18 By sefugi at 2010-09-18 By sefugi at 2010-09-18 By sefugi at 2010-09-18
  21. The ssa forum uses a forum software called IP.Board, they already have their own app that allows you to login and view any ip.board based forum. I know it's available on ipods and iphones, not sure about the android. May just be better off viewing site in mobile theme. And no, not everyone can just make an app... Check out Tapatalk, link: http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/3037-iphone-android-blackberry-nokia-app-for-ipboard-tapatalk/ it runs on iPhone/Android/BlackBerry/Nokia

Went to town with the rasp and got rid of all the funky inconsistencies, now just mashin' the top on And thats all she wrote folks! My skill saw skillz are less than skillful. Inner port wall meeting 45 Same problem at port mouth. Looks like I tried to cut this baby out with a sawzall or something. Both problem areas got sanded down, but I don't know if I took pics of that or not. We shall see. Looks like I did take a pic. Inner-port 45 fixed. Grandfathers are a gift from God; I come down to the workshop after school and find this has been done for me because Grandpa was "feelin' like using the rasp." The nerve of the man, doing good deeds for no good reason! I did the nasty caulk fail you see. Other one fixed too. Grandpa really went to town! Completed turn in the port. All taped up and ready for paint, but I have something else to show you first... Don't laugh now...

Figured I'd try these little connector dealies from part-sex-press. lol Did you know if your hand is bigger than your speaker cutout you have cancer??? Here come the photos I obviously took way too close. Hope you can tell what they are. First attempt at the 45s. Meh, this is the corner in the port: Towards bottom right of pic is port opening, outer walls of port not on yet. Same corner from the other side This was kinda in the last pic too
  26. I really didn't like how the cabling came out so I pulled them out and rerouted them. I think it looks much better this way.
  27. I used to think just like you for the 1st couple weeks I had my 12in BL. One day I was in the parking lot and I noticed that when I stepped outside my bass wasnt as loud on the outside but when I put my head on the inside I could feel the vibrations from the sub hitting so hard. Honestly that trunk rattling shit is very tacky and makes it seem like your driving a POS. Like guy said above more people are impressed with the bass on the inside then the outside.
  28. if you want it to be loud outside the car, mount it on the outside. you can impress a couple people in your neighborhood with a loud stereo. they are called theives. you can impress a lot of people on this forum if you can get loud inside the vehicle with the windows up, and not raise any eyebrows on the outside.
  29. or go here???? http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp
  30. First, thanks to everyone for the positive support. To all those who have heard the system and have taken the time to chime in with positive words, thank you. UPDATES! Fi nally. The sound system is doing fine. The subs are fully broken in. I'm metering around 134ish around 21Hz. Next on the things to do list is upgrade the SQ a bit. What better way to do that than throw some money at the problem. I'm going to take a different approach than what everyone is used to around here. Since my fiber glassing skills are non-existent that puts those high end Focals back on the shelf. I'm going to use electronic processing to make my Powerbass and MTX mids and highs sound like angels singing. What better processor to use than one of these: A little packaging action. To add to the custom feel I had JBL color match all of there production MS8 processors to match General Motor's metallic silver color used on 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra's. Not really. That's how they come. Lucky me. Power and input shot. This unit accepts both high and low level inputs. Outputs. This unit also has a built in amp that'll shoot out 18 watts at 4 ohm and 30 watts at 2 ohms. Nice. These headphones are actually the microphone. During the setup you sit in the listening position wearing these while the processor plays tones to evaluate the acoustical environment and make necessary adjustment. Adjustments are made via this little screen and remote. Stay tuned for the install.
  31. Been a while Got some fiberglassing done and sanded Coat of Gorilla hair More updates soon hopefully
  32. I will do everything I can to hide my actions and mislead anyone if it serves my purpose.
