    It can't possibly work
  3. Not really... the path of least resistance will be the best ground. If your frame ground measures over 0 ohms, and a run from the battery measures less than that... the optimal ground is the battery.
  4. Sure, why not, just make a note of it in your order! Could I get a partial credit for this sale ???? Now, now. I had my eye on the DCON's long before I met you. I just happened to come across your build log and you just so happened to help me integrate myself into SSA. Someone just bought a Level 1 subsciption! I did and I'm super happy about everything that's going to be on its way!
  5. Out of what you have listed, the DCON is what I would go with. The DCON is a small power beast and is built and backed by some great people!
  6. damn 4 boss amps, whats your set up? The build is still in progress. CS60CF - front stage CS50CF - rear stage SSA Dcon 12"- sub stage Boss rev-665 x 2 - Front and rear stage amps ( the other 2 will be used for a possible later build) No need clutter this thread. I love the new magnets, if you think about it they're so much stronger than the ferrite magnets of old. The horseshoe-shaped flux coming out of that end of the magnet equals the circular flux from a standard magnet. It's genius. An sq woofer doesn't need a huge flux, it needs a [mass] balanced, concentrated flux. Or at least that's how I think about it, I might be totally wrong Can't wait for my N2 now.
  8. The SSD only comes in Dual 1 ohm or Dual 2 ohm coils. For dual 1 you can wire to .5 ohm (not recommended for daily) or 2 ohm. For dual 2 you can wire to 1 ohm or 4 ohm. The SSD will do perfectly fine on 500 watts, as long as the person behind the knobs knows what he/she is doing. Since your amp does the 500 at 2 ohm then you should get the Dual 1 ohm option.
  9. The drivers are likely 8ohm.....so a 125w @ 4ohm amp would only put about 60w to the horns at full tilt. Still way more than you'll need, but no reason not to use the amp otherwise. It will work fine. Just for reference, I had 50wpc @ 8ohm on my CD2's, the gain turned all the way down and still had to set the level on the processor to -12 (the lowest it would go without completely muting that channel) in order to keep the output in check......just to give you an idea of how little power you need to use with a true HLCD. Really at normal listening levels, you'll use less than 1w of power. At full balls to the wall....horns are capable of enough output to literally deafen you while still being within their rated thermal power handling (which is why I've never understood why HLCD haven't caught on with the SPL crowd, instead of those stupid bullet tweeters). "Big" is subjective. There are a lot of different versions of the CD2's (mylar diaphragm, titanium diaphragm, Neo version ,etc) so differences will be relative. But the CD2 can play lower, probably has a little better performance thru the midrange and may have a little more top end extension depending on the specific driver used. 1200hz, steep slope (24db/oct).

The Q is a hugely different beast then the original one was..you've got 5-6 soft spiders on a 1000 watt sub now. Not that I condone running any more power to it..but it is a totally different sub than the original Q. The N1 will be more focused towards people who want to save weight, and run less power, smaller longer coils etc. This is just to show that it is real..it does work..for those who are saying otherwise
  11. I am getting ready to place an order from Knu for my wiring. I just want to make sure I get what I need the first time and it's the right stuff. First of all...do I need one or two runs of 1/0g power wire for my two amps? The mono block will likely be an AQ1200d at 2 ohm (870w RMS) and the other amp for my mids/highs will be no more then 150w x 2 @ 4ohms. So if a single run is sufficient, once I get the wire to the amps and I go to split...what size wire should go to the AQ amp? I am just wondering because I didn't see a dist. block on Knu's site that allows for a 1/0g wire to be split into 2 or more 1/0g wires for multiple amps to be ran with that size wire. I figure 4g would do for the smaller amp...I just want to make sure the sub amp is properly feed. One other question for now...terminal ends...is #1 the correct size or do I need larger? Thanks and sorry for the newb questions.
  12. the frame is always going to be the best ground possible.. since your alternator is grounded to your engine and then your engine is attached to the frame it's always going to be best.
