  1. I'm gonna cancel it if it doesn't get shipped by tommorrow and order it from 1800woofers. A lot of products SSA sells are drop shipped, or they get it from the manufacturer then ship it out to you. 1800woofers is likely in the same boat... yea but i've been seeing a bunch of people complaining about SSA shipping being slow If sundown is running behind on shipping out their products, how is it SSA's fault? (I could be wrong, but I believe Sundown is extremely busy and running a little behind on getting stuff out) x2 and dont order from 1800woofers. lol. go through wooferetc or something. lots of places deal with sundown, so if its sundown that is the bottle neck then dont go postin threads doggin SSA's shipping man. you dont even know if its their fault.
  2. That's rude. Not every teenager does that. Yes, some do, but don't adults also? I am eighteen but just because i am younger then you doesn't mean i am incompetent. Also Denim, thanks for the customer support to the OP. I think that it's awesome you explained everything to him and also made sure he understood what was going on. I wish more people could be like SSA and SA with customer service.
  3. That's funny. So its only been 3 days since he ordered and then complained, and two of those days are the weekend. lol. I'm gonna cancel it if it doesn't get shipped by tommorrow and order it from 1800woofers.bro i would not order from 1800woofer it took me 4 days just to get a tracking number they have no customer service at all Be happy you actually got something from 1800woofers. Again, the subwoofer you ordered that took to get 4 days tracking was because Sundown was behind on shipping. I do stock nearly the entire Sundown line, but on certain occasions while we are waiting for a re-stock we have Jacob dropship from Sundown so you still get it faster. Aaron and Mark provide awesome customer service, they will take care of you - do not worry about getting your order.
  4. I ordered my Dcon on a Friday. Took almost two weeks to build and ship to me. Not long at all. You want long, my parents ordered new furniture almost two MONTHS ago. It's coming in this week. The SA-12 will be well worth the wait. Just be patient.
  5. Couple of videos of my Dcon: Song is White Girl by Young Jeezy.
  6. You are welcome. ZED also tells you how to calculate the fuse rating as well I think it is page 13.... Example: A 100 x 4 at 4 ohms amplifier. We will assume that we will be playing it so musical peaks reach 100w/ch. Ok so 100 x 4 = 400. Divide by .03 = 1333 divide by 5 = 266 and divide this by 12 = 22 amps. Use a 25 or 30 amps fuse. I have used this with my esx amps and have not blown a fuse yet.
  7. Ok, let's relax a little. A little general message not pointed at anyone in particular. All emails in terms of order questions should be going to support@ as I answer that email nearly round the clock. As explained above, many products are built to order, and many others are drop shipped, some are both. As I responded in a few emails over the last week, that the delay on a few orders as of late is not usual, a few companies have fallen somewhat behind due to SBN. This is how it is with small brands, you gain much higher value and performance for your dollar, but most of these products were not built last year collecting dust just waiting for someone to order with an stock room person on deck to run things to the UPS truck the moment it is ordered. Many products are drop shipped to save YOU the customer money. These smaller high end brands do not have the massive mark up's that a brand you will see in Best Buy does, so the man power is not there. As for money processing, we are not changing the timing of the money transaction, for one we can't and two, we have been scammed/e-theft a enough and know it is not smart to lay our money out and not collect until the product is shipping. Over the years people have gotten very nasty with me and I have always been very polite and explained everything in detail if there is a delay. Even when there is no delay and everything is running on time, people are still rude and nasty at times, even with timing/availability is explained right on the product page. A big issue still as that the buying experience is a total different process then it is when you walk into a physical store and can walk out with the product that moment. In addition, just because the SSA Store is online 24/7/365, that does not mean someone is awake waiting for you to email or place an order at all hours, so for those people who order something late late Saturday night and then send a harsh email Sunday afternoon wondering where their tracking is, please take a moment and think about how this all works before you start getting nasty and demanding. Something else people don't understand is that these products are coming from all over the country. Now in this case with a Sundown sub woofer, there is nothing I can do to make the order go any faster (shy of getting on a plane to NC and shipping out the sub myself, which some people expect me to do), we process orders very quickly. If people want to pay higher prices for a little faster shipping, that can be done, but with the relentless demands for hook-up's, sponsorships (with no accomplishments), buddy discounts, begging, haggling against the lowest possible MAP, etc. it is quite clear to me that higher pricing to make faster shipping possible is not an option at this time. So please bare with us if there is a little delay, every order (since the day we opened the store) has shipped out to the customers. Side note, forgot to say thank you to the people who replied with positive feedback or explanations.
  8. The products are basically made to order. I mean if you want a crappy burger go to mcdonalds its fast but not worth it. but if you are looking for a nice burger then go to fudruckers or an applebees. You chose a good woofer so its the same concept as the burger. its not sitting in a microwave waiting for you to drive up and tell the people what you want. You have to sit down order from the waitress and the chef will make your burger how you want it! :morepower1: SA-12 well worth the wait. I dont think anyone will disagree! and dont blame SSA! go on craigslist buy a sub and pound it till it pops in the mean time.
  9. What you are describing is not IB, it is called dipole. And it requires certain drivers, certain baffle dimensions, a proper crossover design and certain room requirements (such as a certain distance from walls, certain aiming, etc) in order to work correctly. It's not as easy as throwing a couple drivers on a baffle with a prebuilt crossover and expecting good results. Chances are far more probable that it would sound like crap, in fact. Crossovers for the car and home will be completely different even for the same set of drivers. So even if you get them sounding good in the house, it doesn't mean that same sound will carry over into an automobile. If you want to build a set of speakers for your home, then follow one of the designs already published on website's such as Zaph's or Partsexpress. Those are home audio designs......keep them in the home If you want a set of passive speakers for an automobile, best option is to buy a set of pre-designed components from one of the numerous car audio manufacturers. If you want to buy your own driver's to use in an automobile, best option is to go active.

(I could be wrong, but I believe Sundown is extremely busy and running a little behind on getting stuff out) This. When I have ordered Sundown products through SSA, it came directly from Jacob at Sundown. Just be patient. Things take time. If you wanted it right away you should have bought an off the shelf brand. Good choice in subwoofer

  12. Indeed, have you tried PMing/emailing Aaron (aka Denim) and asking him about your order?
  13. I'm gonna cancel it if it doesn't get shipped by tommorrow and order it from 1800woofers.
  14. Edit, 2 second search. Here is an easy, quick 2 way for you that will COMPLETELY destroy what you chose so far. Tons of other options though... http://zaphaudio.com/ZMV5.html
  15. Zed lists the size fuse you need for the given ohm load in his manual for the new amplifiers... Heres the draconia part from the manual.... Fuse rating for 4 ohm load - - - 25A-30A depending on usage Fuse rating for 2 ohm load **** - - - 30A-50A depending on usage **** under normal operating conditions the fuse rating for 4ohm loads will suffice for 2 ohm loads. If the amplifer is driven for long periods of time into 2 ohm loads the fuse rating may be increased as shown. DO NOT OVER FUSE ANY AMPLIFER Also here is the link to the new manual... 2011 ZED Manual Hope This helps
  16. well, it kinda looks like the old Bug
  17. Sound Quality can actually be measured, BUT it requires a panel of listeners to calibrate the test equipments metrics. This is NEVER done in the realm of loudspeakers as it would piss off way to many people claiming to be Audiophiles. Instead it is a measurement technique used to decide how an exhaust should sound, what the closure of a door should sound like, how a washing machine sounds and so on. Huge money in industry doing this work, but again there is a marriage here of a statistically significant sampling of true blind A/B test subjects and measurement techniques. Obviously from an algorithm standpoint this could be done for loudspeakers as well, but it wouldn't prove anything other than the majority of the test panel prefers unit X. IE, it is used for determining things for the masses and considering every person's hearing is different for acoustic reproduction it isn't absolutely the best method. Another method could of course be implemented, but "scoring" around it would be tough. It is rather easy from a technical perspective to combine an original signal with a recorded one and compare. One could even use panels to then define the metrics that Randal plagiarized above, but the usefulness is a bit absurd as quite frankly the average SQ competitors car really isn't so special that it is hard to tell which is better.
  18. I was speaking in terms of competition as that is the the only theater in which "sound Quality" lives. Measurements don't measure quality, they measure quantity. That's the problem we keep running into in these debates. People take our type and terms to mean something different. When you take the measurements, you are measuring the sound, not the sound quality. When you throw that word in there, it makes everything subjective. No computers or numbers can ever give an indication of quality.
  19. That definition is how SQ is judged not actually what SQ means. Sir, Can you please explain to me the true definition of Sound Quality ?? This is What I come up with ... Advanced Car Audio Sound Quality Concepts Although the four basic sound quality concepts (clarity, dynamic range, frequency response, and tonal balance) are the most fundamental to understand before purchasing a new car audio system, there are a few other sound quality attributes that are also important. Timbre Timbre (pronounced "TAM-bir") refers to a system's ability to recreate the sound of an instrument as it was originally intended to be heard. An acoustic guitar is usually a good test for this because most people have heard one. Does the sound have that warm, slightly resonant quality that the instrument is known for, or does it merely sound like a low-resolution reproduction of that signature sound? Tonal accuracy Tonal accuracy describes how faithful a system is in general to the original recording. It can apply to instruments as well as vocals. The more accurate the system is while playing a good recording, the more you feel as if you are there, listening to a live performance as opposed to a recording. Tonal accuracy can also apply to the ambiance in a recording, which refers to the space in which a recording is made. Most modern recordings are made in a sort of vacuum, with individual instruments recorded separately or, in the case of some rap music, the individual parts are sampled from other recordings. But many older recordings, some modern ones, and almost all live albums capture the environment in which the performance was recorded. In fact, certain recording studios and performance spaces are known and revered for their sound, which give a recording or performance a specific ambiance. Think of timbre and tonal accuracy as the reproduction of how close you get to the actual performance or how the producer intended for it to sound. Whether it's the sound of Miles Davis's trumpet, Jimmy Page's guitar, a Dr. Dre beat, or the ambiance of Carnegie Hall, how well a system can reproduce it the way it went down in a studio or concert hall determines the difference between a good system and a great one. Staging and imaging Staging and imaging are related concepts that go back to the heyday of stereo, and therefore don't always apply to modern music. The basic idea is that when you're listening to a stereo recording, the system should recreate the illusion of the stage on which the performance occurred, and you should be able to pinpoint the sonic image of the individual performers and instruments within the stage. Think about the example of a basic rock band that includes a singer, guitarist, bass player, and drummer. You should be able to close your eyes and picture the singer at the center of the stage, the guitarist to the right, the bass player on the left, and the drummer center and behind the singer. Keep in mind that this is an ideal that sound quality systems should approach if not achieve. With rap and many pop-music recordings, the vocalist will be centered, but the concept of a band playing on a stage doesn't exactly apply. Speaker placement has a dramatic effect on staging and imaging, and hardcore enthusiasts often go to great lengths to position their speakers for the best possible results. This includes rebuilding door panels to better position speakers. Some have even built elaborate mechanisms to mount speakers in or raise them above the dash in order to achieve better staging and imaging. Finally, no discussion of sound quality would be complete without mentioning interior acoustics. A car's interior, its reflective surfaces (such as glass), and its absorptive materials (upholstery) play a dramatic role in a system's response. And every car interior is different; if you install the exact same components in your Toyota Camry that your friend has in his Chrysler 300C, the systems will sound very different.
  20. that's your current status......and validates my point exactly. Mine too. If OP's would spend a little time trying to make a thread useful then there would be no troubles, but that you can easily see if you've truly searched. This forum is about helping people not only with their question but understanding why so that they grow as a person. That requires effort on their part. EXACTLY. Perfect definition. Pointing one person's post out and giving them the correct info is way better than a bunch of misguided people with wrong info posting. 1 vs 1000. Which is better? Its better not to have bullshit from the start, then trying to convince a big group of people they aren't correct. And if you don't see it that way, maybe this forum isn't for you. SSA has always been known as more of a technical audio forum than the rest. So if you want a bunch o people giving out wrong info and not allowing people to correct others, SMD is for you. That definition is how SQ is judged not actually what SQ means.
  21. Drama, no. We like real information and threads that are helpful to not only the OP but also those that search. We also don't close things and censor as it isn't necessary. Better to leave everything in the open. Instead of closing or hiding we respond. Sometimes peoples butts get hurt in the response and it creates drama, but that is their fault in how they read it. As for this thread there is no real need to close this thread, even though it was a fail from the get go doesn't mean the OP can't still attempt to post his point.
  22. Iban's point is no point at all, and the point he thinks he's arguing against doesn't exist except in his mind due simply to his own inability to comprehend or think logically. He was trying to imply that anyone on this forum thinks that T/S parameters completely encompass all aspects of a driver's performance. That's a false conclusion from the start, as not a single person has said or implied as much, which makes this entire thread rather useless as he's trying to argue against a point not a single person has made. He then attempted to twist this false conclusion into meaning that subjective listening impressions are more useful than objective driver measurements (what he apparently and incorrectly believes), which is patently false when we are interested in considering a specific driver's performance attributes and an ability to make meaningful performance comparisons to any other driver. For anyone who understands the information, there is infinitely more use in objective data than there is in subjective listening impressions. And yes, this trail of objective information begins (not ends, as ibanender would like you to believe anyone here implied) with T/S parameters and continues onward through the measurements 95Honda briefly mentioned and then some. So yes, he is wrong.....he was wrong from the very start.
