  1. Ground can go anywhere on the chasis. For the engine block that can go straight to one of the engine bolts, or the bolt holding the alternator. If you could take a pic of your engine we could provide much more details.
  2. "Clamped" used in this thread is a way of measuring power with a clamp meter. A clamp meter measures a current that pases through a coil in the meter by clamping around the wires. Another term "clamped" is used when two amplifiers are clamped together. Basically one amp is wired into another amp and power output is the sum of the two amps.
  3. No idea why this video took hours to upload to youtube. Here it is though! No editing, just the raw first chance published product.
  4. Agreed. Probably because Meade is helping work on it. Everytime I've seen his name mentioned on here, its been followed by numerous bashes (*cough* M5). I guess they're just haters.... I dunno I don't see M5 pick and choose things to discuss. He is the same regardless name or brand. So just because you have been in threads where Steve's name been in, and seen M5 reply, doesn't mean he doesn't post on the rest of the forum. You starting to show your SMD forum side, thinks people "bash" for whatever reason. You should know SSA isn't about bullshit, and doesn't sugar coat or let bullshit fly. As far as hating on Steve, why would anybody? Just because he's popular, anybody that disagree's with anything that has to do with him, their classified as a "Hater". Which makes no sense.
  5. I don't think anyone here is trying to claim they "know more" than the designers or try to prove that as their point. But we don't need to know more than them, we just have to know the intended purpose of the device......which we do. I don't think anyone here is trying to "downtalk" someone else's invention, but rather discuss the potential benefit of such a device. Just because someone produces a product, it doesn't mean everyone has to agree that it has a potential benefit and is worth a purchase. People can disagree about the potential benefit of a product, and they can voice this opinion. If you have such an issue with someone voicing their own opinion, whether you agree with it or not, then you have a long road of life ahead of you. Why is it hard to believe someone may have an opposing opinion? I would actually argue that SMD and his designer (Tony?) didn't come up with the idea, either. Or atleast, they weren't the first. I remember several years ago Chris (he goes by "thechris" or "thch" on the forums) had an identical idea and was actually in the design phase....don't know what ever came of it. It will take me a little bit to find all of the info though. Ah ha...Success! Notice the thread dates; over 5 years ago. http://www.caraudio....tting-tool.html http://www.caraudio....tting-tool.html I don't really see how testing a device such as this really has anything to do with influencing someone's opinion of it's usefulness and benefits. Someone can form an opinion on the usefulness of a device such as this without needing to see the LEDs lighting up. The concept is fairly easy to grasp, and it's the concept and benefits of use that are in disagreement. If you think it's a good product then great....buy it. But don't expect everyone to agree with you, and don't expect those who disagree to bit their tongues. Instead of coming in here just to complain because you don't like M5's opinion, why don't you try refuting his statements with valid reasons as to why you see benefit in such a product and actually contribute to the conversation.
  6. yes i am, and i dont have any idea were to really start with speakers, would i be able to just hook up the amp and then run the speakers i have now? what confuses me the most is the active passive stuff. Powering speakers passive means that the signal going to the speakers from the amplifier has to pass through a crossover first. You can have a full range signal going into to the amplifier and a full range signal coming out of the amplifier and crossovers packaged with the component set will divide the frequencies for the speakers. Commonly when you buy a two way or three way component set they are packaged with crossovers. This is the most common method when adding a component set. It works well and sounds good. Passive component set Powering speakers active means that the signal coming out of the amplifier is already crossed over (signal is divided for the speaker being used). So this means that the speaker you are powering is directly wired to the amplifier without a crossover in between the two. Some people buy amplifiers that have the crossover circuitry in the amplifier. Other people buy separate crossovers or signal processors that divide the signal then the signal goes to the amplifier. When running active you can choose to use speakers from multiple manufactuers and an assortment of other options are available that you do not have with a passive system. Speaker selection and crossover frequency points can be difficult when running active. Using a passive component set can be easy and for most people they are very pleased. For your first setup of this multitude running a passive soundstage would probably be your best bet
  7. I haz no SSD neo, just an older 18"...among other Fi 18's....
  8. I'm 6'7, about 265 now - at my heaviest, I was 310. I felt big, and didn't like the way I looked in most clothes. Wound up with a viral infection that affected my heart about 3 years ago, doc wanted me to get down to 250... Lost all the weight by cutting down on the soda, I mean waayyyy down. I didn't deprive myself of a Mountain Dew now and then, but one 20oz bottle every 3 days vs 4-5 each day helped a LOT. I also cut down on the chips and dips, and stopped eating any meals after 4 hrs before I intended to go to bed. Trying to get down to 250, but not by changing my lifestyle drastically - just cutting out the little things, the ones I really won't miss. Figure I can by May, easily.
  9. ohhh shiz. m5 steppin in with the smack down. anyways, as for musical ability of the subs, thats 90% box... i built a box for my single dd 9518 that was more musical and played lower than any single btl set up i've ever heard... same sub i burped a 147.7 with on less than 2500 rms. either way, this will simply prove that in this particular set up, one sub is more inclined to be successful in that particular scenario. the real test would be doing 20 different boxes, with power ranging from 1k rms to 4k rms, and seeing which subs hold up the best, put up the highest numbers, and are the most flexible in the variation of set ups. that would actually give you an idea of which sub is "better".
