I've had a number of people make comments here recently that there are "Others" that "Make speakers in the states"..and it does not take them anywhere near as long as it does us.... Well..they do drop soft parts in the motors, however all of the motors are machined and pre-built (sometimes even pre magnetized) in China..and they get Chinese soft parts dropped into them with an American coil. There are no worth while viable options that can be put in here or any way of giving you a choice to have things how they should be for your installation. If you do not need a dual magneto setup for your top fuel funny car, but just a regular single pro mag..then only pay for the regular pro mag, you do not need the extra spark. But..that is not Made in America. That's assembled here, with imported parts. Bottom line, all of our steel is forged right here in the states, all of the steel poles are cut out of bar stock, all of our plates are finish machined here. The big thing about this is that it is all done in house. We do not have to deal with the inflexibility of hiring a 3rd party machine shop that does not know speakers and what needs to happen with certain parts and why things are machined and done certain ways. Nobody else has the flexibility of changing things on the turn of a dime if something messes up. So, let's say you place an order with us. First thing that happens We cut the pole down..it gets machined to the correct OD, drilled, tapped, then into the CNC's for final machining of the cooling technology that we use. All of the back plates/top plates are machined, coated, and baked to your order. Knocking off poles out of the bar stock is the first step. After this it gets chucked into one of the big lathes to turn down the OD, then they are all drilled and tapped. After that they get chucked up into the CNC to have all of the machine work done if you get the cooling option or the pole chamfer option. Again, we have the flexibility and ability to give you exactly what you need for your install..instead of making you pay for something that you do not really need. This is a stack of Q series back plates that have had their final turn on the lathe to clean up everything before they get tumbled, coated, and baked. Finished N3 series woofer top plate after being machined, coated, baked and prepped. I will update this thread as I am able to with more pictures of what goes on. I leave you all with something to think about, we do all of this work ourselves..in house.. machine and build everything to order...and we're still cheaper using all American parts then most of the others in the market. (aside from the 10,12, and 15" 12 spoke basket, that is imported because it makes sense) Take a step back and ask yourself where your money is really going when you go to spend it next time! Odds are..it is outside of our local economy. EDIT: NEW PICS ADDED!!! Poles poles poles... SSD top plates turned and CNC machined ready for the tumbler! Hunk of N2 extrusion that got banged up that we're not using...just a 'whats going on inside' type of picture, it's an actual aluminum extrusion that we cut out of bar lengths on the saws. After all of the parts get machined they all take a ride in the tumbler for a few hours for deburring before they get coated and baked. Finished up N3 top plates hanging out beside one of the big lathes. N3 back plate/pole combos before final assembly... Little stack of finished SSD top plates Little stack of finished Q top plates ready for assembly on magnets.. That's it for now..I'll update more as I get around to it...again...think next time when you are spending your money and ask where your stuff actually comes from. Remember, the more money we send over seas the LESS money we have in our own economy which trickles down into less growth out of the recession....we HAVE to push to bring manufacturing back to this country. Down with lemmings!
  2. Vehicle is 1992 volvo 240 wagon The goal of this build was to get loud on the mids and highs and get as loud and low as possible on two 12's!!!!!!!!!First box for this system was really nice but not enough port area so the bl's werent liking it very muddy sounding wasnt happy so i pulled out my old box and trimed it up to fit the vehicle and it was a perfect match up. Moves some air like it should! electrical consist of 275amp Ohio generator Alternator a 17ft run of welding supply 1/0guage all connections crimped with hydraulic crimper thanks to "Sirlancelot" Yellow top optima g34 upfront with one kinetic 2400 in the rear atm have one more to add in just ran out of 1/0guage terminals. Equipment: Clarion Deck 4volt preamp with decent equalizer good budget deck -Bass Amp Cresendo Audio 3500bc upgraded from a Aq200d very happy with the cresendo!!! -Mids highs amp: Mb Quart Q series 150rms x4 the components are 2.7ohms so its running at a lower Independence amps alright heats up real quick in 100degree weather like boiling eggs on top of it type heat. -Components Polk MM 6.5'sx2 125rms for each pair. They sound really good taking all the power from the mb quart with no problem! Pics of the old setup for recap for the peeps. Old Aq was a really good amp for a budget build for only 389 shipped. Then they raised the price to 429$ not worth it to me. That was about it for the old setup didn't have enough time to finish everything until i Sal the crescendo 3500d and i had to have it was so sexy and cheap! Was running the crescendo on the fi's in the stained in the varnish box received more output of the subs the quality of sound was really muddy didnt not enjoy it at all! For the mids highs where the sound was coming from wasnt a big deal i just wanted to get loud! I know your suppose to have sound coming from left to right but fiberglass takes to much time. So i just decided to stick on the mids and highs in a speaker pod enclosure made out of mdf then vinyl it sounds really good actually not that bad for the sound coming from behind. Picture of the other subwoofer box has alot more port area then the stained and varnished box. Not as pretty looking though but who cares as long as it gets loud and low! The amps in the compartment the car has little messing only because the volt meter run was a little short so its going across everything! One kinetic 2400 need to build a enclousure for the battery to keep it stable but its fine for now nothing is going to spark or do any damage. Mids highs from back you can see how they are not going anywhere with the stillets on them. Old sub box chilling on box's while i take out the subs out! Dont bother the oil leaks on drive way a shitty ford f-250 did that go figure a ford vehicle . Now with the subs installed with the box with lot more port area MADE a huge difference on the lows and the quality of sound!!!!!!! Last photo of Clarion with voltmeter and working on mounting gain knob! Thats all the pictures for now have only one more thing left to install which is the kinetic 2400 then ill be happy for the time being!
  3. How so? average cone area for a ten is 310cm^2 * 2 = 620cm^2, average cone area for a fifteen is 810cm^2.
  4. Bah, you don't want the POS box that comes with them, you're better off with the prefab boxes. I have one that was built by Kevin and the baffle flops like a fish out of water with 175 watt rms subs.
  5. Why no mat ? It's simple to add and it's what provides the strength. I've always used mat, just wasn't sure why I was finding all these videos of people using mat on door panels but not kick panels, made no sense, thought I'd ask. The fabric was a bitch, tons of wrinkles, but enough fiberglass mat toned it down, sanded like hell, and used slightly more bondo then normal. Still has a lot of inperfections but I'm going to layer the inside with clay tomorrow and install. If it sounds good I'll be taking them back out for more sanding. Probably add some more resin in the inside in case I missed anywhere, like the white wrinkled spot
  6. We had it better in 91! I was watching voltron though. And thunder cats. Or maybe the blurry adult channel.
  7. Really not that bad sounding not as bad as i though it would be still have the stock 5inchs on the 2front doors and 3inchs on rear cant hear them though. Going to a show on the 19th in Charleston see how everybody thinks of it. Pops thinks it's killer specially for classic rock likes the little drum kick and smooth clarity of the polks.
  8. Lol I know I am pretty ignorant. But I try my best lol
  9. Yeah. I guess a better way of saying it is "I had problems with the SAZ 1000 at 1 ohm because of my stock electrical." but some people just like to speak their mind

DC Power makes the 270XP Looks like a factory alternator with a Mechman voltage regulator
  11. Yeah man unless you got some superb electrical you shouldnt wire that below 1 ohm it's even kinda risky at 1 ohm. It could eff yo shiz up. Lol
