  1. Is there a video out setting somewhere in the headunit that isn't set correctly?
  2. News flash, the 90s are over.
  3. Problem is, there are a lot of missconceptions about T-lines in the car audio industry. To be a true transmission line, there cannot be any appreciable volume behind the driver before the line. If there is, the line is no longer coupled directly to the driver and instead to the volume the driver is exciting. The line then acts as a Hemolitz resonator and not a transmission line. There isn't anything wrong with this, it just isn't a T-line anymore. Additionally, a T-line is completely non-resonant and does not have a tuning frequency. This is because it does not resonate, it instead provides a phase shift on the bottom end just before the line length determains cut-off. This is why it isn't tuned. If your response shows a tuning with similar impedance peaks to a vented box, you know it isn't acting like a T-line, but a Hemolitz Resonator. What we should do is get the terminology straight as to not confuse people. The OP's box is a vented alignment, not a T-line. This doesn't mean it won't perform well, if not great. It isn't anyhtiing to get upset over, just the facts.
  4. Consider this: Choose your max dimensions based on an enclosure size that you can easily install and remove from your trunk. This way if you need to use your spare tire you could simply take your enclosure out of the trunk, remove the spare tire then put the enclosure back in the trunk. I found it helpful to make a simple mock-up box out of cardboard. You find that you can use a larger enclosure than you originally expected.
  5. Anyone wanna learn some math?
  6. Same thing, different name, I believe. Folded labyrinth usually refers to the port, not the box. Classically a term applied to things that usually means nothing really though.
  7. The updated depth dimension of 14" is pretty accurate. I had chosen 8.5" before because it would make the install easier. A max depth of 14" still allows spare access, I'll just have to modify that trunk floor cover slightly. thats interesting about the ported 10 having greater output than 2 8 sealed. Thought that the extra cone area might make that up. I'd always like to go with (for simplicity of install/setup) with one sub over two. Do you think that, given 2 ft^3 to work with, that 2 SA-8's ported would work and would they have greater output than 1 10 DCON ported? The dual Sa-8's ported would have slightly more output assuming you also supplied them with twice the power of a single 10" Dcon ported. In identical enclosures the SA's would be about 2db louder according to WinISD with twice the power input (I used 1.25cuft). But, the two Sa-8's would also be twice the cost plus the cost of a 600w compared to the cost of a 300w amp, which to me wouldn't be worth a 2db difference based on the goals you've indicated. In my previous comments though I didn't realize you had already sold the 10" Dcon. You also have the option of looking for a good sealed enclosure 12" driver, which may be a better option for simplicity sake since you are space restricted.

ok, well, last night i'm rear ended when i'm at a dead stand still by someone doing about 15-20mph. Haven't been in an accident in 5 years (T-boned on that one) and i'm a little shaken up. I'm trying to figure stuff out on how to replace whats broken. I've never gotten a straight answer out of you M5. I was beyond pissed off about the accident and your responses were by no means helpful at first. I'm asking for help in figuring out what a good set of speakers to learn with would be. I'll start it fresh here so its easier for people to read. My apologies to those that i was vague for (no sarcasm). I have a 2004 chevy blazer 2 door. Stock locations are: tweeters in the dash firing at the windshield 6.5inch woofers low in the door right by the hinges. 6x9s halfway up the rear wall behind front seats I'm looking for a setup that will get loud while keeping a relative clearness to it. I'm not looking for a HT setup in my truck. I want to have a setup that will get loud when i crank up the volume to 45 on my Pioneer DEH-P880PRS (out of 60) but be easy to listen to at lower volumes such as 20. I said $200 because that is what i can squeeze out of my insurance company for the blown speakers i had. Retail on the VRs were $200 when purchased 2 years ago. Still have receipts and all that. Next year, if i like the sound i can get from an active setup using whatever it may be, whether it raw drivers such as peerless, Dayton, Tang Band etc. or PA speakers like the Seleniums, Daytons, or B&C, I will upgrade to a nicer setup. The other aspect of this is, if the drivers are cheap enough, i would like to do custom door pods and A pillars using multiple drivers to show off the work as a "WOW" factor. Kick panels are out of the question because i have a size 14 shoe and spend a lot of time driving my truck. It is my daily driver and for me to go visit my girlfriend at school is an 1.5 hour drive, to go hang out with friends is a 30 minute drive, my shortest drive is to work which is 5 miles. So, i spend a lot of time in my truck. Thank you Stefan and Sir Lancelot for your suggestions and help. I'm willing to do whatever to my door panels and A pillars because they are easy to find at local junk yards (welcome to michigan, home of GM and 1000s of Blazers/Jimmys) if i sell this truck in a few years. If i missed something needed, let me know and i can take measurements or find the answer.
  9. That's a little extreme. Sure it's a fantastic driver with tons of output, hell I loved mine. But for someone wanting a little more output then a 10" in a sealed enclosure, why not try a ported enclosure to start off with.
  10. I would agree with both of those comments. The Dcon isn't a sealed enclosure oriented subwoofer, that's part of your problem. Your best option would be to save money and use the subwoofer you have in an appropriate ported enclosure. Second best option would be to find a good sealed enclosure oriented 12" driver. I would think either the 10" Dcon ported or a single 12" sealed would provide the output you are looking for based on your comments.

    nice choice
  13. So, instead of being the all-knowing forum chode that goes around trying to bring people down without providing any sort of help and/or explanation, why don't you shed some light on the subject and try to actually be an informative and helpful person instead of the pompous asshat that you have been playing for who knows how long?
  14. X2 x3, yeah I agree cause this build log sucks without any pictures.
