  1. Just got my first pictures of the first completed prototype of the new SAZ-1500D v.3 model... so the cat is out of the bag on this one! As the model that got us started it is only appropriate that it is the first model to be shown in the 2012 trim! Newly tooled 2012 casing -- you can still tell it IS a Sundown amp but it is a refresher and also narrower. The FETs are mounted at a 45 degree angle to shrink the width AND avoid spring clips (which I've never liked). So we are getting the best of both worlds on that. * Fully custom tooled boards for all of our new 2012 models complete with fans. More photos to come as I get the other models done! Yes... you do see 16 power supply FETs in this amp along with four transformers. * We will use the fancier RCA plugs for production. So this has many things I've been asked for (smaller size and fan) and MANY improvements to design that were really just personal goals of mine. The entire line is stable to 19v as well. Power testing to come when it arrives... the SAX-125.4 model should be showing up within a week or so as well. Pictures of the completed prototype coming soon too!
  2. No..the baskets are Chinese as well..minus some of the 18's, same for the dustcap and ferrite. Nobody else uses American forged steel. Nor do they machine anything in house or offer any 'custom' viable 'options' that actually enhance performance..
  3. Ummm not quite! Amps are still made in Korea just a different buildhouse in Korea. SAE lineup will come from China. All coils for the Zv.3 and NS v.3 series come from Precision Econwind from the USA. May want to get all your facts straight before claiming everything comes from China!
  4. Sharing my moments in D.R. Enjoy peoples!!! Me getting my Rico Suave on: Cheesy smile and shitty mustache:

Look what I found on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rockford-Fosgate-T15KW-Power-Cube-15-000-RMS-30-000-Watts-/120897338180?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item1c260afb44

This weeked I competed in my first two seriosu competitions, everyone was super impressed with the whole setup. I was browsing the MWSPL site and found this written by Steve the guy who runs things at MWSPL. Oh Yeah Team Sound Solutions Audio!

Nice job Julian!!! You da man!
  8. I don't need to own an E series. I've got a fair bit of experience in "overpowering" though, I had something like 4x the rated power on my front speakers. Just because I did it, doesn't mean I go around recommending everyone run 4x recommended power to their speakers. As I said previously, it's certainly possible it will work if you use the gain and subwoofer control intelligently. You are also risking damage by running an amplifier rated for 2x the power handling of the drivers. It's not rocket science. I don't know why you're even still asking....every time someone says it might be a bad idea, you come up with a reason it's not. Fine, so go do it. It's not any more complicated than that, unless you want the warm fuzzy of someone recommending you apply 2x rated power to a subwoofer, which in reality means absolutely dick.
  9. Someone said the old ones look outdated? ~Facepalm~ I got a SAX-100.4 for sale. Who wants it? It's to outdated. lol
  10. I'll post exact dimensions and size comparisons when the prototype gets here Stay tuned !
  11. Recommending that much power over rated is never a good idea, especially using the words "safely recommend". Just because you did it doesn't mean everyone can.
  12. Or get a Zcon cuz there ain't no more Z v.3 ... Unless you find a dealer with it...
  13. He clearly states two d4 subwoofers. Amplifier will be fine. Make sure to set your amplifier correctly. No need to run more than rated power. If you want to run more step up to the SA series.

The SSD is an excellent sub woofer, ESPECIALLY for the money, no getting around that. Now, it does sit a power class up from the Gcon (as power is an easy way for people to classify different sub woofers). The specs on the two drivers show the differing intention. The Gcon is somewhat similar the the original Icon. Both drivers are top notch choices, just need to clarify your goals based off of your power, space, music etc.

having heard one.. and comparing it is not a fair review if you are going to compare them then you would want to do a direct swap
  16. I'm not sure about that. Im sure about he has the wrong info ..

  18. I'm not sure about that.
  19. You have been told some wrong info from the wrong person also .
  20. Eventually they will be made in the same buildhouse as the SA series. Due to demand Sundown will move Zv.3 production to China. But will supply the buildhouse with USA Made voice coils.

  22. There is a difference between assembled in America and built in America.
  23. 1 point
Id prefer a USA built driver. From what I've read the SA woofers are imported. It looks like the SSD may actually be more efficient than the Gcon? the spec is negligible, but would it be safe to say they would provide about the same output at the same 750 watts??

lol over a 100%... that would mean it makes its own electricity some how!!...

Are you sure about that? Lets think about this here, where does all of this energy come from? The energy that these 180 caps need. Tell me how a capacitor works and operates.

DAMN I have heard of those, although never seen one! and for 6k$ that is a steal! although keep in mind the size! 37x22x10 and 180lb but he will hand deliver!
  27. If I'm not mistaken the z v3 is sundowns sq ish sub? If it doesn't sound musical then the problem is your enclosure/install. It sounds great. I thought the Zcon was build to be purely musical, so i thought it might handle better. My bad if it came out wrong The zcon is geared more toward spl. This is not at all saying it can't sound good.

  29. Connect your laptop via Ethernet cord, and run these commands. Hold window key and hit the "R" key Type, "CMD" Type, IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS Type, IPCONFIG /RELEASE Type, IPCONFIG /RENEW And then see if you have any better results.
  30. omg lmao, weak sauce tim! :wtf; and you want 16k behind your head? tsk tsk

There isn't a single position that works best (loudest) for all vehicles, but generally it will be louder the further back you put it. I would try aiming the driver towards the rear doors (firing to the rear). You may also find that it's louder firing up, so with that in mind I would try moving the box around and listening for any noticeable difference.
  32. typically, this is caused from a disconnected wire so pull the subs and inspect. This is also why i never suggest using terminals on boxes.. Just do passthrough right out the box. Eliminates many problems that have happened to people in the past.
  33. So the single SA-8 v.2 has been doing great for quite a while with the PSI PR but now that production is in and all pre-orders have shipped I decided I wanted to step it up a bit to THREE of them. Derrick came up today and put together a nice box for me for the three 8s using a single 6" aero-port about 28" long or so tuning us in the low 30s. Box is constructed of a single layer of 3/4" Russian Birch plywood. * Yep... that is a LONG port. * Inside view -- just a basic box with all the giant motors hanging out. * Sealed with a bit of silicone. As we may be tweaking some more I just ran the wires through the port for the time being. * In the car. * Bit close to the side wall but still works out pretty well as we are trying to get a very low peak. * Small risers for the parcel shelf. * Box secured into the car with three small angle brackets Initial impressions are that it is extremely loud and has GREAT low-end extension. Pretty much everything I wanted and more. Output is much better with the windows down due to the low tuning and it moves a good bit of air. We'll work on videos, metering, etc at a later date but for now I'll just say it sounds GREAT.
  34. Part of it is just resonance. Same thing that creates rattles, buzzes, and other obnoxious anomalies.
  35. A single 4" port will work just fine. Just build it and try it. As long as you are using an actual flared port you won't have port noise with that setup. More then likely you will be very impressed with the end result.
