Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointHome for 48 hours and we had guest who brought veggies. So, in my free time I broke down 3cuft of zucchini, 4 cuft of cucumbers, and a whole grocery bag of green beans were blanched and frozen. Fridge is about to be HUGELY full of pickles, lol. 10 quarts of B&B, 2 gallons of fresh dill, and a large crock of refrigerator pickles.1 point

SSA ZCON OR FI SP4
1 pointIm not chase numbers anymore, i just need a sub that can take some abuse a daily ground pounder. Plan is 2 18s in Escalade Ext. That is being built as a show car but can still crush in the lanes if need be. If you were leaning towards a high powered ported system, the Zcon would be a better option IMO based on T/S parameters, the Zcon is a more aligned with optimum ported enclosure performance whereas the SP4 is really geared more towards sealed enclosure or large low tuned ported enclosure (which aren't really necessary/desired in car audio). Peak output will be pretty close to the same with either driver in similar enclosure volumes/tuning. The difference is really going to be in damping/transient response, and I would imagine in a typical car audio ported enclosure the edge would go to the Zcon there. If you were looking for a high powered sealed system, the SP4 would end up being a better option.1 point

RMS with 130amp alt?
1 pointAn extra battery (or a million extra batteries) will not prevent voltage drop from 14.xx to 12.xx volts. You'd be wrong there without qualifying that statement with a number of batteries, total battery capacity (Ah, not CCA) and total current draw. With enough batteries, or a small enough draw, the voltage won't dip hardly at all. You can completely compensate for amp draw with enough battery reserve (provided you give the alternator time to catch up and keep them topped off) and you can also overwhelm most any practical amount of reserve with huge amounts of current draw. The reality is that average current draw is what you really care about. That determines the duty cycle of the alternator. When you average out all the peaks in current draw with all the valleys (assuming normal music, not something with continuous droning bass notes) most people would be surprised by how little their system draws. That number is really all the alternator needs to handle. The rapid transients are covered by the battery reserve. A good reserve will keep the voltage from dropping appreciably (more than adequate wiring matters here as well), but the biggest alternator (discovered to many's consternation) won't keep the voltage from dropping on high draw, rapid transients.1 point

Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointMe too, but I have a caveat. I want it to be good for the fool. I realize that my concious will probably keep me from being a multi-millionaire but so be it. Life's too short to win by being an asshole.1 point

- Amplifier question!?!
1 pointYes, that will work. Order D2. Follow this diagram. I hope you enjoy your new equipment http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=221 point- Austin863's X-WAGON Build
1 point- Help choosing a sub?
1 pointIf you don't really have a budget, I could point you in all kind of directions. Please, understand, size of woofer and the rating of a subwoofer have no relationship as to how "loud" it will play. If you are unsure of how much room you have, please post MAX demensions. Also, are you trying to keep the RF, or are you wanting to get bigger, aka are you content with what you currently have. You may want to check out the Gcon in a well ported enclosure, 12", and that would make a great start.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointHonestly sounds like a waste of engineering. Only stupid people would really benefit, but they'll still find a way to fuck shit up. Safety scissors suck.1 point- Team SSAudio 2011 Mustang
1 pointdamn i thought u were just changing the baffle... Tell tim since you are in the mood for destroying things.... hehe, get his ass over to your place so he can rebuild too!1 point- Team SSAudio 2011 Mustang

1 pointYou don't? Man your behind the times.... lol Tear down looks like it's on it's way... glad to see your getting a lot of work done!!1 point- Sundown 10's...should i do it?
1 pointHow much power they can handle mechanically depends on the enclosure. They aren't "underrated" enough thermally to really make any difference. For a thermal rating sticking to the rated power handling is more than sufficient.1 point- Team SSAudio 2011 Mustang

1 pointI had a great weekend with the shows I would like to thank all of the organizations I'm part of! Team SSA Team IAK Project Mayhem Car Club MECA 2nd place "Poor Boy's Classic Chevy Club Show - Waverly TN 2nd place "June Jams" - lebanon TN (Show & Shine - SUV/Van) Most Improved "June Jams" - Lebanon TN 1st Place "June Jams" - Lebanon TN (S1) I did a 141.1 @ the Headrest with no tuning/prep work off a 30amp fuse Most action to come soon! I will admit though, between just traveling, gas, food, entry fee and everything else, this can be a damn expensive hobby. The things you don't think about lol. I REALLY wish steve of MECA would order some better damn Trophies! LBVS! I know there is suppose to be sentimental value behind these, but damn, 9.99$ just makes it depressing. The trophie I got from Sat's show is heavy AF with real marbel/wood. I think these are 59.99 each. But of course, MECA has no sponser, from some reason, so I guess I could understand that. It was very hot today, over 100 degrees, but I did enjoy myself, minus the heat.1 point- Team IAK IronMan Explorer
1 pointA few quick notes guys! My eXplorer did 25mpg and reached 500 miles on ONE TANK!! This was to NC and back. 1 pointAlright, so I'm at work, that means none of these will be in any paticular order nor will they have any description. Just a few shots of what came in the mail today And thats all folks lol. This is what I plan on running for the next few years. The two bc5500s, either at 16v or 12v, and the ZED L3. I hope you guys enjoy the pics, sadly, these will not be installed for the next few months, maybe, MAYBE I will put one on the Zcon for burps, but as far as permantel install, it will be some time. Only reason why I grabbed these so early, was to help a fello friend get the amp hes been wanting, at the same time, get a great price on the puppies. So stay tuned!1 point- Team IAK IronMan Explorer
1 pointHere is a few more pics guys, and some short videos I've taken. Excuse the quality, just a avg P&S camera. And here are the short videos. So let me know what you guys think!!1 point- Team IAK IronMan Explorer
