  1. That's how it is almost everywhere with almost every shop. Around my area here it's a lot of Planet Audio, Polk Audio, and an array of the cheaper brands. People's choices are only as good as their best educated guess it seems and in most cases that education isn't much more than what the salesman said or because that person knows somebody's buddy who's using that sub or speaker. I've actually had guys demo their setup for me, telling me just how awesome it is as we walk out to it. Just to have a look of bewilderment on their face when I explain in as much detail as I can what I personally didn't like about it when I heard it and what I would've done differently. Then come back two weeks later asking how to make it better. I think they do it because after I attempt to educate them they start to REALLY listen to it and realize that something isn't right. I am still working on learning how to read T/S params and tech specs and know how good that driver really is and what it's optimal use would be. Still learning how placement, axis orientation, and other installation issues affect the given response. Still learning what the good and bad compromises are for different goals. There's such an incredible amount to learn its really almost overwhelming. I would love to learn it all someday though realistically I know I'll only ever scratch the surface. There's a wealth of information available on here and some guys on here with just as impressive backgrounds and knowledge in this hobby/field. Even with all that it still comes down to two things in my opinion. First is the most important thing, that only you know what sounds good to you. Second is that it all comes down to the installation. The cheapest speakers in an ideal installation have the potential to outperform in every way the most expensive speakers in the least ideal installation.
  2. With 31bands of EQ, 4 way active, 5volt preouts that is a bad mofo. I will most likely switch to it this summer. The 80prs is amazing but that one is the bad boy on the block IMO.
  3. I would hook it at the battery. The alt will have too much demand if you hook it right at the alt. It is best to feed from the reserve of the battery, and allow the ECU to make it's calculations based on the battery readings. In many cases there are inductive probes inline on the feed wires from the battery to the alt. So it is best to avoid linking downstream of the battery.
  4. might just be me, but i see this as a dealer issue. If that's where you gave your money then they would be responsible for refunding, you not the company.
  5. CHECK YOUR BULLSHIT AT THE DOOR. its not welcome here. did you read the rules before you started posting>?
  6. Nobody here knows what you want to do. Nobody here knows your budget, your equipment, your goals and after that kind of response nobody gives a damn either! So you want the whole forum to post their builds to give you ideas because your too damn lazy to do a search. LOL Good luck with your "Taco"
  7. I have been using my P99RS for over 6 months now. I do like having all the controls in one unit. The ipod interface is very easy to use which is a huge plus. I feel that the price is justified considering all that you get in one unit. I have not had any issues with it.
  8. Lack of detail, seriously.
  9. I work for a Nissan dealership and can check with my parts department and get you the part number you need just pm me your Vin and ill get your answer tomorrow
  10. 1 point
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the DCON is an amazing sub. I bought one for my sister for her birthday/christmas present a couple of years ago. It's in a 2.25cuft ported enclosure tuned to 31hz that fits like a glove in the back of her Durango. It sounds absolutely amazing on everything that I've ever thrown at it and everyone she shows it off to can't believe it's just a single 12. That's an amazing feat for it's modest price. Port that baby and go, you'll love it!
  11. 1. Sell the backhoe and pay ALL of the debt. 2. Keep losing fat.
  12. While I agree there are some things purchasers in preorders have to deal with, such as the ETA being pushed back some due to customs or raw material outages, I think being given an initial ETA and then being told that there is an indefinite time frame for delivery is way outside of acceptable. We only have 1 side of the story right now, so it's tough to say.....but if they are waiting "indefinitely" for the price of Neo to drop back down to where they are happy with the profit margin then that is complete and total bullshit. They ran the preorder knowing the price of raw materials may change, they are liable to honor that preorder with a reasonable time of delivery regardless of whether or not they lose their ass on the deal due to the cost of materials rising. According to the OP it's not that they don't have access to Neo due to a lack of materials....they simply don't want to pay for it because it's too expensive and they'll either not make enough money or lose money. That's not acceptable. Build the subs you agreed and were paid to build. If that means you lose money because you made a bad business decision, then tough shit. Build the fucking subs.
  13. Playing the low notes and doing it with authority are two different things. If you want to play all notes then sealed is fine. If you want to really hammer out those low notes then I would do a ported enclosure on the larger side tuned around 28. Just dont go overboard on port area to keep from unloading easily. Downside is the 40+ will suffer somewhat in output.
  14. NEM told me about you guys!
