I need some input
2 pointsThey can, and I believe they have some PA amps that can do that already. The problem is that in the car audio world no one would like them because it would never get loud enough. If the amps were able to eliminate distortion by sensing it and automatically reducing the input signal to get the output wave back to a true sine wave (unclipped) then the customers would get uber pissed because no matter how much they turned things up it would only ever get as loud as the controlling circuitry on the amp would allow. I can pretty much assure you that wouldn't be as loud as their previous amp and then they would bad mouth the new amp without understanding it was only doing it's job. Pretty much everyone listens to their music driven right up to (and many times well into) audible distortion levels. Even more unrealized by most people is that when the dynamic peaks are at play the hardest it's distorting every time because they've already run the output level up to it's limit and anything above that becomes distortion. Lastly there's plenty of music out there that has distortion of different kinds recorded on purpose. Any controlling circuitry that could sense and eliminate distortion/clipping by throttling the levels in the amp would really just not go over as well as you think.2 points

2 pointsPassenger's side: Two large panels are for amps, the small panel is for my distro block Driver's side: Two of the panels are for amps, 3rd is for my processor And my baby. She wanted to be in the pictures There is a third picture where she was completely unprompted, but ended up flashing the shocker while just doing goofy stuff with her hands....LOL Turned out fuzzy though.2 points

Subwoofer Break-in
2 pointsThe T/S of a subwoofer (or any driver) changes as the suspension loosens (i.e. becomes "broke in"). But since the relevant parameters (Cms, Fs, Q, etc) change proportionally, the response is changed slightly but typically by an inaudible amount. So the actual change in performance is virtually zero. It's not a myth that the suspension loosens, changing the T/S parameters. It is a myth that some arbitrary "break-in period" needs to be ascribed where the driver is used at an arbitrarily lower power level for an arbitrary period of time. It's also a myth this change is dramatic since, as I pointed out above, the change in response is often not audible. I've obviously not seen measurements of every driver on the market, but I've yet to see measurements of a driver that results in an audible change in response. If somebody has any, I'd be interested in seeing them.2 points

gcon or sundown e series
1 pointI had my 12" GCON in a 2.5ft^3 box tuned ~33hz and it was seriously impressive. Before that it was in a 1.5ft^3 sealed and I loved it. either way, the GCON will not disappoint.1 point

Subwoofer Break-in
1 pointSorry - no measurements yet I can tell you my Alpine Type- R and Type -S sounded very different (to me) after a week or so than when they were first put in - even when i took a used Type-S out and put a new one in, I could tell. when i first put them in, it seemed like it couldn't hit the low notes, after awhile, the lows definitely became more prominent (to me)* *Right before they blew lmfao Measurements are really the only thing that would support the claim that there was a significant audible change pre- and post break in. Subjective experience does not. As Q pointed out, you might have experienced a change, but the change was in your perception and not in the driver (at least not audibly).1 point

Subwoofer Break-in
1 pointI can tell you it's all in your head. I have roughly 30 different Klippel results from driver before and after being broken in. None of them show any differences that would be audible. However I do not have any that were on the verge of bring blown.1 point

1 pointYou guys are the reason there are power ratings on drivers in the first place. Don't worry; after some time in the game, you'll understand why power rating is a worthless specification.1 point

NEM's Evilinator!!
1 pointVery nice, really on my ass with those numbers as well! Nice! Thanks Senchez. You are defiantly louder. Well don't say it like that! Geesh. Why not your numbers were higher. noooo, WE'RE BOTH loud! Loud and FLAT! I agree. I have been told that my numbers are pretty damn good for a single sub tuned where it is and sound as good as it does.1 point

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
1 pointThanks. She's great to have around, especially now that she's a Daddy's girl which drives my wife crazy....LOL. Only have her on the weekends, but she comes from a rough background so I like to think we're doing some good in helping raise her. We're white, she's obviously not. So it's pretty humorous at times when we're out in public, people always think she's lost. Skin tone means nothing, I am sure you are doing that little one a world of good! Funny thing is I enjoy the company of little ones more so than adults. Keep doing what you are with her as I am sure she will remember it for ever.1 point

1 point- Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
Another nice HU to consider is the Clarion CZ702. It has fewer bands of EQ but you can set the 5 bands it has to many more frequencies than the Kenwood has. I can't see any of the other details (actual manual isn't on the website, only the quick start guide) but I would imagine it mirrors last years model the 996 pretty much exactly on those items. The biggest difference from the Kenwood and Clarion aside from the EQ and crossover frequency adjustments and the ability to do active setups is the menus and how the settings are laid out. The Clarion is easy enough to use but a person would need to be familiar with what all the settings do and how to use them whereas the Kenwood may not be as sophisticated in it's features but the menus and the settings laid therein are easier to follow and setup for a beginner. For you the Kenwood would likely be the better choice, at least for now. In the future one like the Clarion or the Pioneer could serve you better. Being the Clarion can be had a little cheaper than either, it's not a bad option either if you're willing to learn what all the functions do and how to use them.1 point- I need some input
1 pointI know believe me. I have started a few threads and been frustrated as hell feeling like I was getting no useful info. Then I realized that all of the info I was being given was geared toward getting me to think and spend time listening to figure out what I was missing or wanting, and really listen to how adjustments affect sound (quality, output etc.) Everything you do has a huge effect on output from the way your box is facing to something as simple as rolling down your windows. It just takes time to figure out your car, your equipment, and your install.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2
1 point1 point- NEM's Evilinator!!
1 pointWell at some point last night my wife came across the youtube videos and expressed her not very happy with all the flex. I did what I could to calm her, but in the end my only way out was to blame Aaron for making me buy such an Evil sub if I did not eat more garlic. Looks like Aaron is in the hot seat now. Not really but it is funnny story that lead to an awesome friendship.1 point- NEM's Evilinator!!
1 pointRuss did want to fire the sub back, but with all the electronics in the gate I will not try it. Russ and Joe were suprised at how brutal it was for a single sub. Good guys and we need to promote and support them Austin.1 point- digital converter box
1 pointWhile I have heard of people watching standard ATSC while moving (granted not a stable signal) I think a lot would depend on station location, line of site, antenna location in the vehicle etc. but couldn't hurt to try. But yeah, Parkin lot pimpin for sure!1 point- xcon test run, review

Bassing is what i need to take a break from all the money spent going down the lanes... mix a challenger , 2 18's, bc5500 , c1100.4, 8 crescendo pwx 6.5s , 4 selenium 2500 ti's , a wall, and a couble of d3100's and lets see what we get... more images to come1 point- gcon or sundown e series
1 pointThe sa series is more comparable to the gcon, but still the gcon gets my vote.1 point- FI SP4 Inverted Motor Noise (wtf)
na its coming right out of the motor, i put my ear up to it to find where it was coming from. this is a real downer, i'll prob have to sell the sp4, the whole point of the install was to be invert mounted. Where on The motor? Well I can't say exactly for sure, but it wasn't the sound of coils scraping, it seemed like air noise or something from the coil moving in and out, its probably a normal sound that no one hears when its mounted regularly. Its just really obnoxious inverted and its not going to work for this install. fuck. I'll prob free air it a bit tomorrow to make sure its not box related. What is making you not run it regularly in the box? Its aesthetics, the whole install was for looks. Also the box isn't deep enough now, about an inch shy so I'll have to make a baffle which will also now mess up the carpet.. my god. Just make a couple mdf rings to bring it out a little. . . If it sounds better in the box that's the way you should go rather than just looks1 point- 95 Honda Accord Build Crossfire XS-V2 18"
1 point- My system?, yep. Subs in the backseat?, yep.
Nope those are 2 Lanzar 12's in the fold down box lmao. I still don't understand this guy, one day hes on chat saying hes 15(Cant even drive yet)? Now hes here saying school tuition is too high?1 point- My system?, yep. Subs in the backseat?, yep.
1 point- GCON 12s in Sealed DC-Creations Enclosure
I just finished up with my install: 2) 12" D2 GCONS in a DC-Creations Sealed Enclosure, all installed in a 2012 Volkswagen GLI running from the factory fender audio system to a LC2i LOC and Kicker ZX1000.1 Amp w/ KnuKonceptz Kolossus Flex 0 ga kit. GCONS: Visually: I placed my order and received the speakers about 25-30 days later, just like the guys @ SSA said. Between the heavy foam surround, to the huge magnet, to the frame, they look SICK. Looks wise, I can't complain, the build quality seems to be great; real heavy duty shit here. When I bought my kicker amp from the car audio shop around the block, the guy I dealt with asked what I was running for subs. So I showed him... His eyes light up and he says, "SSA... never heard.. WOW! Those look SERIOUS!" DC Creations: Build Quality: I ordered a stage-one sealed enclosure with the flush mounting option, built to the max dimensions of my vehicle. The enclosure is around 1.3 - 1.35 ft^3 per speaker. Received it in the expected time-frame with no issues. Build quality is awesome and I really liked the way the guys at DC wired up the box for me; 2 runs of heavy gauge wiring shrink tubed right to the terminals. It was basically plug and play. The enclosure was built like a brick shit house compared to one my old prefabbed enclosures. No comparison there. Fitment: The GCONS slipped right into the flush mount face, wired right up, VERY EASY. It was perfect in all aspects. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Performance: Overall the installation went well; getting all the LC2i and ZX1000.1 adjustments were a pain but I finally have then fine-tuned and I couldn't be happier. This was my first sealed enclosure so I really wasn't expecting much in the area of loudness (compared to my Kicker L7s in a ported enclosure), especially running off the factory head-unit. Honestly - I'm impressed in all aspects of their performance (Enclosure and Subs). They get low, they get high, they're punchy and most importantly, they're really clean and tight; I don't understand why it took me this long to go sealed. Loudness - Unless you're competing, I can't see ever needing any more SPL than this. My car has a sunglass compartment that pops down from the headliner. When I turn up the volume - it flies open and my sunglasses fall on the floor... Every time.... Its really impressive. The rear-view mirror doesn't move around in circles like I've seen in some SPL videos but it shakes a LOT -the same goes for my side-view mirrors. A friend of mine runs a pair of 12" Alpine Type-Rs @ 600-700W each in a sealed enclosure; All I'll say is this - every time I see him now, he asks me to trade. The Type-Rs get pretty damn hot, pretty damn quickly. I'm not sure that I'd feel comfortable running them hard for any longer than 15-20 minutes at a clip. Last night I took a 2-3 hour road-trip running my GCONS pretty damn hard (safely of course). I felt the cones out of curiosity - BARELY WARM after 3 hours in a SEALED BOX @ 550-600W Each. Overall: Although they were only around 200 bucks each, I'm not sure that I'd call the GCON a budget subwoofer. The only thing budget is the price. I can only imagine how loud these would be in a ported enclosure from DC-Creations. 2 THUMBS UP AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Will try to get some GoPro videos up this weekend.1 point- ofc and cca wire
-1 pointsCCA is a gimmick brought out by car audio companies. It is 100% not worth the money or time. People who will tell you otherwise do not understand how current flow through different metals works...-1 points - NEM's Evilinator!!
