I recieved my xcon 15" a week ago, and Wow! where do I begin? After obsessing over craftsmanship (simple yet eye catching) I ended up using a 3.2 cu. ft. enclosure tuned to 30hz. This beast is powered by a 1000/1 (4 ohms) and a nak for the sound source. If there's a way to describe how hard and clean this thing pounds, It's bruce lee kicking you spot on your chest with the music. This is a great subwoofer, I've heard W7's and this one takes the cake especially at its price. Enough talk here's some photos: My ride quick comparison to alpine type r 12" Boxed, carpeted, ready to thump! I would like to thank Aaron, Mark, and the rest of the people at this company for excellent customer service. It was a 2 month stretch but very well worth it for my patient ears.

That is in the cost per watt area I am untrusting of the amplifier quality.
  3. Just a tiny bit more I get the impression BuzzSaw is not up to the level then.... How is the cost per volume compare? Assault is more expensive than BuzzSaw but about the same as nDure
  4. Alright so the baffle is done except for sealing and finishing the port side. Which the port side will be getting worked as I play with the tuning so no need to do anything with it yet. For the paint on the baffle its a color shift paint I bought at Autozone. It took alot of hours on top of hours in order to get the baffle to look this way. Then the flush mount pieces where put on before paint and I filled in the screw holes before painting.

Clamp test means nothing....It depends on who you ask...I'm well aware of the reasons you made that statement though.A clamp test is not an RMS rating. Search the definition of RMS and you will understand. If it hasn't been hooked up to a Audio Precision or Power Cube analyzer then the rating means absolutely nothing. It also means nothing if the parameters at which the numbers measured are not listed.

    Clamp test means nothing....
  7. Worry less about power and more about the install & enclosure.
  8. Didn't see any vid links. Lack of mobile support is a annoying
  9. Megatons of spam wiped off of our other forums. Took the mass majority of my day.
  10. More forum pressence would help a lot. Works for other companies.
  11. I think that is an excellent idea. It is almost the ideal toy to tinker with.Miatas, fat women with cash, and mopeds. All are just about the most fun you can have that you never want your friends to see you riding.
  12. Done and done. I love supporting up and comers! Check out FallRise on Facebook if you guys get a chance too! If you're into metal (sort of)
  13. Just thought I would post some enclosures i have built lately
  14. Chinese finger trap would be your worst nightmare.
  15. If you want a midwoofer..get a midwoofer. The point of a speaker is no different than a wrench, you should use the proper tool for the job. If you have a 1/4" bolt you are trying to tighten up you do not need a 5 foot long cheater bar on the end of the wrench. http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-8-woofers/peerless-sls-830667-8-paper-cone-woofer/ Those are great from 80-1000Hz.
  16. There are way too many different variables for that information to make much sense to your install. Just try it and see if you like it. If not, change it 'till you do. It's a whole lot easier than getting people on the internet to tell you what to do. Edit: Read your first post again. You're looking for a sub that will play from 60-100? That's pretty damn pointless. What's wrong with what you have now that you want to change? What have you already tried to alleviate what you don't like?
  17. I've never listened to a good setup with pro audio drivers in a car. I know it's possible, but.., I hate them, ....until I can find good ones. I'm not into competition sound systems. My single set of Focal is still amazing to my ears. (I had the budget for that).
  18. Never use pro audio and Zed in the same sentence, EVER. Thank you
  19. Why would you want pro audio speakers?
  20. sorry its taken me so long casey! heres a few pics you sent me to post up and a video we shot today. video: bass ballin!!!!
  21. preorder has officially begun. The production 15 and enclosure (3 cubic feet tuned to 32 hertz) has been sent to Pat Turnmire with Redrock Acoustics. While there he will be doing the following. LPM, linear Parameter Measurement or also known as small signal Thiele Small parameters. LSI, Large Signal Identification. Basically Thiele Small parameters with a higher voltage that excites the transducer to normal operating range. When a transducer is played there are parameter shifts that can very greatly from small signal parameters (during small signal testing the cone moves a fraction of a millimeter.) Knowing this information will help design a better enclosure to suit the driver. It will also measure things like xmax including 70% BL(20%distortion), 82%BL (10% distortion), 50% suspension compliance (20% distortion), and other parameters. Power Handling Confirmation, the sub will be mounted in the provided enclosure to verify RMS power ratings based on xmax and thermal compliance of the coil. This will give a real world rating to insure coil failure due to too much power will not be an issue. As of now I am the only small internet company using this testing method to get a proper RMS rating. While these tests are being performed Pat will be creating video tutorials explaining each test, and why its an important step in the design process.
