  1. As someone who recently took the active plunge as well as ditched rear speakers, I have to say, these guys know their stuff. I'll never run rears after what I've been doing so far. I still have a long way to go but I'm hearing things never heard before over the few passive sets I've heard. Proper install and taming rattles in the doors is pretty important. An active setup is a little overwhelming at first and can be frustrating, but if you are as good with your ears as you lead on, it should help quite a bit.
  2. Some pics of the carnage and parts and install!! Started on the second one 2 hours ago and is back together!! Good thing as I need to be at work in 30. Left side^^^^ Right side^^^^ Parts is parts, pieces parts^^^^^ Left side!!!! Da' shackle And the right side I just finished!!!!! Now time to order more parts!!!!!
  3. makes perfect sense from a production perspective. either way no matter what or how anything is done everyone isn't going to be happy. the wait is pretty long and it sucks but now that I have mine I couldnt be much happier.
  4. Let's address the SSA products for discussion reasons. As already stated, their are a lot of reasons that go into the wait time. As stated, holidays, tax time, employee illness, and the like. Now, wait time has been the deal breaker for many customers for quite a while now. Pretty much since I've become active on this forum a few years ago. And there has always been, a reason, for long wait times. At the end, the product speaks for itself. Now, speaking from my personal opinion, NOT taking any shots. But as I am an honest person, and pulls no bias, I will say this. One thing that I have seen that's becoming an occurrence over the past few years, is again, there is always a reason for the long wait time. And as an loyal fan/customer/user/competitor. I truly hope that one day this can be not only addressed, but fixed as well. Year round, there may be many reasons for long waits. A few that immediately come to mind, that has, again, been an occurrence reason. Is, holidays, tax seasons, employee illness, supply shortage, and finally, competitions. Whether that be World Finals, State Finals, or season openers. So basically, if you can tell by my example, ALL year long can be a valid reason for the long lead time. Now, obviously, there is an easy fix for this, gather more man power. But, the problem with this, obviously, more man power comes with a cost, and with an added cost to manufacture, comes with a cost to the customer, which no one wants. And there you have it, the never ending cycle. The battle of production vs demand. I'm giving this feedback, again, as an loyal customer. That, because of this wait time alone, it deters MANY customers. I hate to say it, but it even an reason for me not running an SSA product at this very moment. I decided to "go big" shortly after the season has began, and I did not want to wait two months for my product to be in hand, knowing I could have missed well over 6 shows during this duration, which could cost me an World Finals appearance. And it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth, when I tell others that, yes, Fi/SSA would be an superior product, but beware of the wait time. That is immediately the number one reason people that I communicate with goes elsewhere, as well as other consumers. My .02
  5. If you don't mind, I will post what I've been told. Long story short. At one point and time, the vehicle was reported stolen. From what I've been told, this can date back to a total of four owners. Chop, the owner before chop, the dealership, and the owner before the dealership. The only two resolutions at this point, is to buy the vehicle at the police auction, or to buy the vehicle from the person who reported the vehicle stolen. Chop has done everything in his power to obtain as much paper work as possible, and is currently going under investigation. This is such a shitty position. Especially considering Slam is literally a few weeks away. I hope everything works out brother. Just keep your head up, as we're all here for you. Just means you must do better and better with your next build! Don't let this hold you back!
  6. Thanks mate.. was a old vid...... Meh.. .. i gotta a lil goal in mind. Most of it being reliable. Just play song after song, for 6 hours reliable, type shit. Meter, i hope comes in, but, ...... Im just gonna horse around. How is yours going bro? id love to hear your honest thoughts on what our doing also. Cheers man... Slow but going, subs shipped today probably gonna start wall next week. Lots to do but it shouldn't take too long
  7. Same here there are a lot a of variables.
  8. ok, im waiting on zcons, im just in that 5%Aaron stated: "95% of the time, everything is built in order" This does not mean you are in the other 5%..If everything is built in order, and i ordered zcons before you ordered your zcons, but you already received your zcons and mine still haven't shipped? Im not? (Not starting an argument)I know what your saying. If someones march 26th order was just in the last batch of zcons that was sent out how was yours not in that batch since you ordered yours before that and its the same sub Exactly lol Iv just realized over the years there is nothing you can really do about the wait time but always really happy when a sub gets here lol
  9. Side by side shot. The only difference I can tell at this point is I lost a little out put, but it seems to hit harder. Hope to start the amps racks next week.
  10. Wow...... Boy Chop, if there's anything I can do to help.
  11. when two sources reproduce the same signal, ie the front left and rear left speakers, they interfere. This kills the frequency response. When the same signal from two sources arrive at your ears at different times, due to different path lengths, this fucks the stage. Its way more complicated than this but thats the basic idea. Read the psychoacoustics section on wikipedia where it explains sound localization. the point to the bookshelf speaker example is that there in only ONE set of speakers. not one set in front of you and one behind you. no you're not processing the sound at all. you've just hooked up a 2nd set of speakers. active processing is where the signal is filtered (altered) digitally before amplification). while passive refers to filtering after amplification (ie. capacitors, resistors, inductors, etc). if the 6x9s are inherently bad than there's no saving them. since you haven't mentioned deadening the doors, i suggest you start there. correctly installing a pair of speakers should be the first priority.
  12. This lady came up to me at this show and asked if she could hear my truck since she missed the show, little did she know she picked the loudest vehicle at the show....The Black Nasty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9M8_sRViDM
  13. It's very seasonal and many factors involved, almost none of which SSA is in control of or they can predict in advance.
  14. ok, im waiting on zcons, im just in that 5% Aaron stated: "95% of the time, everything is built in order" This does not mean you are in the other 5%..
  15. Thank you for your response. I've heard that from a few people. Sorry but I disagree, if you do it right, the rear can help make the system better. My Front is complete, that's why I'm working on the back. I blew out my back speakers last year and had to drive 6 hours home from Michigan and it sounded good, I was surprised, just the fronts and subs. But, If the back matches the front, it's like wearing headphones. When I fade it to the front only, the sound is all in front of me, but if I use the fade and start adding a little rear, there is a point where the music is right where I am, then I'm surrounded in it. Back in the day when I had a 76 Buick regal I had a great system and the sound was perfect, at least in the front seat, sounded like crap in the back but I didn't care. When you would sit in the front seat the sound was all around me just like putting head phones on. I'm trying to get that sound again from what you're describing you simply have not heard a front stage that is set up correctly.
  16. I dont see whats so hard to understand...
