  1. I came across this on the other side of the net. Could this be a sign of things to come? The back plate and basket spacer are different than that of the original ufo. Lets here it Fi, inquiring minds want to know.

Worst part is they copy dc audio. Then they ship it overseas? Kinda regretting my ethos now... Don't worry the new ones have different machining for those that buy per looks. Although now that I think about it it may hurt my sales?
  3. OMG, this is so fucking hilarious!
  4. The two 12" Gcons will have just slightly more surface area than the single 15. The main thing that comes into question is; are you planning on upgrading in the future? With two 12's you're sort of locked into the pair of 12's unless you want to do 1-2 more. With the single 15 you'd be able to go to a dual 15 setup without many issues.
  5. The problem with your dilemma is that "loud" is just as relative a term as "sounds good". What is loud to me could be just kinda loud to you, same with what sounds good to me could sound like ass to you. Having actually played with and heard a 15" ICON on a PPI BK1300 I can say the ICON does fantastic in the output department, in the right enclosure of course. I can't see how anyone could be disappointed with what it can do in both departments actually. The two 12's have more cone area and with nearly the same xmax do have the potential of giving you more output. Don't discount the ICON though, the 15 I've played with can almost take your breath away at the tuning of the enclosure which I find pretty impressive for a single 15 on a little over 1k of power. Being that it's also the cheaper of your two options, I would suggest keeping the order as is and going with the ICON. Make sure you build the enclosure as closely to optimal as possible and find the best orientation to maximize output in the vehicle. Then, if it's still not enough you can sell it and pick up the GCON's.

The rumor is DSS copies other stuff and has child labor in Asia build them.
  7. Let's see how stupid I make myself feel while attempting to read this...
  8. Way past diminishing returns, much better means to the end.
  9. Going about this the wrong way. Bigger amps and turning down the gain for now is the way to go. J
  10. So I have been going to the gym since Feb to try to pack on some mass. In the past month I've had a Facebook post started by my wife's family about the size of my chest following a family get together at a lake, two acquaintances independently comment that my shoulders look much broader, and my daughters friend (high school age) comment to her that my arms have gotten larger. I'm not doing this so I have the satisfaction of people complementing me all the time...but it is nice to know that all of my hard work is not just visible to me alone, and that other people can tell
  11. No one really likes dc on here one of the rare forums that aren't dc or tantric nut huggers.
  12. Go around and check out other peoples setups and get demos. You will be surprised when you sit in some lower db vehicles that sound louder to the ear than the big number rides. You will get beat by some people with not much cone area at all. I've seen people with two 12's meter higher than me but their main goal is a number. Thats why the main thing is to have fun and focus on the sound above hitting a certain number, if you get caught up trying be a top runner in a class you will stay frustrated if you have a daily setup.
  13. Most importantly, have some damn fun. Who cares about the rest of the crap.
  14. I was able to manage an 141 db even at the headrest off of an single aq1200. If sq is at in the equation, great sub choice. Very accurate and crisp sounding woofer. Another option, would be if you could afford the extra cost, 2 10" DSS Ethos would be nice.
  15. keep the icon!! just make sure a proper box is built for your vehicle.... you wont regret it!
  16. You too? You and Aaron in cahoots?
