Single twelve build - need ideas
3 pointsWhich in turn says very loudly you've never heard either. Lumping the BTL together of all formats is crazy as there are monstrous differences. Simple way to take me, I am trying to help you learn by making you think. Answering questions isn't teaching, but helping to understand how to answer the question yourself is. If you want to learn this will be way faster. You know the saying. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.3 points

2 pointsSSA has titles and World Records too. Sure, I would love to be the size of JL, but we are a solid 15-20 years behind them in life span.2 points

1 pointI decided it was time to build a garage to work on Aaron's cars and build box's for SSA sub-woofers. At some point I will have an APM2 to meter cars. Without further to do here are the pictures of my progress,1 point

1 pointYou're trying to learn, that is a good thing ! There are a few interesting books to read. But don't forget it's music : you need to listen, to try some product. When you say a BTL and a DD9500 are on the same level, musically, I smile : you never tried one of them. Have fun !1 point

1 pointQuiet a few, nice. I don't hate JL, just no interest in paying for their stuff new. Am currently running 4 of their comp sets in one of my vehicles. ....if you think that is in a car, well then, ha, you don't know me.1 point

1 pointAwesomeness. So I think the general consensus is to keep the 18 and rebuild to small optimum spec. Under my hood there's a diagram with a footnote that says "BTL Catalyst" ill have to post a pic1 point

1 pointI had a 12" BTL N2 in a 2.5 ft3 box, with kerfed port and all... It sounded very nice, and I was in the 139-140 db range (sealed on dash). I sold it to a friend, he bought a new recone and a basket, and now it's a 15" sub : it's wayyyy louder ! No comparison possible. On quite the same power ! I can't even imagine an 18" BTL ! You can be loud with a 12" sub, but not as loud on music with the same sub in a much bigger size. NO WAY ! Going from a FI btl to a DD ? I tried that with a DD9515 : what a disappointment ! A DD is not as musical than a Fi/SSA/AA sub. Have you ever owned one of those subs ?1 point

1 pointIt is irrelevant how loud one of the two is without the other. The btl can take that amp as well. The math of power, cone area and output obviously allude you.1 point- Single twelve build - need ideas
1 pointJust grab a single 12 zcon and build a box that ssa recommends. You will be amazed.1 point- SSA Racing and Audio Central PA

0 pointsSays the guy who wastes miney on JL lol. The n3 is nowhere near as musical as the n2 so what are you even trying to compare. The DD is a fart monster and has no place in a musical setting. Neither does the n3 btw.0 points- Single twelve build - need ideas

-1 pointsOw no doubt keeping the 18" would be better but he wants his trunk back and a smaller box and sub.-1 points- Can this be repaired
-2 pointsWell seeing as most of these company's now just use the same off the shelf parts to build most subwoofers it probably want matter. Their is probably what 10 different motors, 10 different cones, spyders, and voice coils used to build dozens of the same woofer with a different company's logo stuck on it. Same with amps. It's not a coincidence most of these woofers look like cookie cutter versions. Now honestly tell me I'm wrong and fi ain't the same subs as ssa or soundquebed and just a copy of a DD or a number of amps like DC, ampere, and several more ain't the same board with a new case and logo.-2 points- Single twelve build - need ideas
-2 pointsThere's that JL hate I knew it. And I like JL I have been running their subs since the 90's. Ow and they hold a whole hell of a lot more titles then ssa. I actually like both brands but I'm smart enough to know JL is where ssa wishes they where now. And last time I checked DD had quiet a few titles their selves so to me it sounds like your talking out your ass.-2 points- Single twelve build - need ideas
-3 pointsA DD is just as musical as a btl. Not that either are great for the task but one is no better at it then the other anyways.-3 pointsAccount
