  1. Whew it's been a long time since I've done a build for myself. This one is modest and not going to be as insane as my last, but then again I am a little bit older now...
  2. Yup, sounds about right. The software is accurate enough and you're likely using it correctly, finding a middle road capable of delivering you what you need with compromise in the right places is the key that experience will eventually get you. In a trunk port noise is harder to detect, so you can scrape by with less port area a bit easier if that's the case. Small enclosures are always harder to deal with when it comes to port design because of how much faster exponentially the port length grows as tuning is lowered or port area is increased. You may have to model and build a few different designs to learn for yourself and decide which compromises you can and can't live with.
  3. Probably something like this
  4. for testing polarity we were talking about mid bass woofer. well at least i was talking about it i dont know if you can even see a tweeter cone push out or in? and i wouldnt even consider putting a 9 volt to a tweeter lol. id assume that would definitely destroy the tweeter?
  5. Personally if they don't provide T/S parameters I wouldn't be interested in a rebuild. Even then I am wary since you won't know what you will get until after it is built. Luckily it is just bass which is rather easy to make sound good, but the savings of a recone versus a new woofer isn't all that when you can no longer get an OE recone.
  6. lol yea i like this one the best
  7. No sonic and ssa are probably the best 2 places you can deal with. My nephew wired a hifonics brz2400 down to a .25ohm and burnt it up and they shipped him a brand new one so I was impressed they would warranty something that had clearly been abused and fried like that. But they do sell refurbished items but they list them as so. Now if they have a product sent back that's not been used they may test it and if it's ok they might sell it but I doudt they would try to pass off a refurb as new. Just from my experience I would say your good to go no worries.
  8. I'm not 100% sure about the crossovers in your exact set, but there is a very good chance the mid was playing 1000hz and 2500hz. 1000hz may actually play better out of the mid than the tweeter. It may be difficult to get to, but treat each component set as if it were two separate speakers. Listening to each one individually really does tell you a lot. I didn't understand this until I tried it myself. I spent hours researching tweeters one week as I was sure I needed new ones. Come to find out, after listening to each speaker individually, the sound I didn't like was actually a peak in the frequency response on my mids. A little eq and it was gone. We all have to start somewhere, sometimes diving in is the best way to learn.
  9. I'd check for a wire grounding between two terminals. or, ie just redo all the connections and make sure that they are all clean and tight. If the problem then still follows the tweet I'd send it in.
  10. Depends on where you disconnect them. If you take the wires off the crossover completely no need to tape, but of course when in doubt TAPE. I think you are seeing now why I would never put a crossover in the door. You should really compare all variations of polarity on the speakers. And yes I know this is a crapload of combinations, but when you find the right one it will be extremely noticeable.
  11. Of course you can't. You seem to be confused thoroughly on everything audio. Google cancellation and don't just read but think for once. Eureka moment should happen, if not think harder.
  12. So yes, compare your midbass as well, but either do them INDEPENDENTLY (ie only Left or only right connected) or try all variations of phase.
  13. Perhaps or perhaps not. Fixed it may not be. I have NEVER had a car where having both mids and both tweeters in phase (ie wired as described from the speaker manufacturer) sounded best. Trying to swap the +/- for all 4 of the drivers independently can yield monstrous benefits in the frequency response.
  14. You say I act like a teen but you where the one who got bent out of shape because I didn't take your opinion as fact. And it isn't just me you are a pucking smartass to almost anyone who comes on here. Hell I was reading a old post where you mouthed off to tony D'Amore and that guy is a engineer so that says a lot about you. And as far as disliking post you where giving me bad rep for liking a ssa product so it's only fair I give it right back. I think the problem is your German you guys think yourself better then everyone but we all know what nazi's really are.
