Billy Jack Thread Dumping Thread
1 pointJust a spot here to keep his off topic thread dumping away from other threads. As always we refuse to delete, but it is annoying so the idiocy will be moved into here.1 point

The Crossover Crossroads - Active or Passive
The understanding you need to run active you should also have if you install your own system. There are very few adjustments you need to make in a 2 way, but it isn't trivial. Taking the time to learn and plan and understand is huge, but the end result will destroy a comp set for even less budget. Component sets are almost always a rip off. There are lots on here to help...1 point

1 pointAnyone a garage door guru? Door goes down about a 1' stops and goes back up. Sensors are fine. If I hit the button to stop it there and then restart it it will go down. It's on the wives door and has been doing it for three weeks. It's worse when it is cold. She's probably getting sick of me not fixing it. Not sure where to start. I double checked the sensors and am "sure" they are okay. Figure that the motor is feeling an extra load somehow but I am not sure where to check for binding. It feels pretty smooth if I detach the whole motor and just open and close it manually. Is slop in the chain or some adjustment on the springs to blame/help?1 point

1 point15F or -10F you need to dress the same. 15F might even be harder on you than us. Our 20F feels warmer than SoCal's 40F. Moisture makes a HUGE difference in the bone chilling nature of cold.1 point

1 pointIf we had snow I'd fatten up the jets and go for a rip. Only bad part would be yanking the carbs to swap jets in the garage. Of course it's now up to -8F so I wouldn't have to.1 point

1 pointWife is sore as hell. Rear ended yesterday. Hard enough to push her 8' forward into the trailer hitch of the truck in front of her. CRV that hit her is WAY totalled and a 2012. The XC90 looks pretty good actually. Rear bumper cover, rear lower hatch are shot. Small hole in the front plastic from the hitch. Only thing that isn't so great is that the fuel door won't close now. Tells me the whole quarter may be tweaked. I assume that would total it out. Figures since we bought tires 2 weeks ago.1 point

1 pointNo, because a simmer isn't a boil. Simmer is a single small bubble every few seconds. BTW, it's great with champagne....but beware of too much garlic if you add to it. Carrots are somewhat like potatoes they tend to soak up the liquid and then when you puree them you get a velvety smooth feel. Nice stock helps this of course. I don't normally use a ubery chicken stock that I've built with a ton of veggies and other items but more of a standard can like consistency stock but of course with the collagen influence of the bones in homemade.1 point

1 pointMatt, here is the Carrot Ginger Soup. Easy, peasy. 6 tbsp Unsalted Butter 1 whole yellow onion 1/4 cup chopped fresh ginger root 3 cloves garlic 7 cups homemade chicken stock 1 cup white wine 1 1/2 lbs carrots cut into 1/2" pieces Saute onion in butter. Add remaining ingredients and simmer until carrots are cooked (~45min) Add 2 tbsp Lemon Juice 1 pinch curry powder Salt & Pepper to taste Puree in blender (works well to season in blender while pureeing as tasting is better then) Freezes well so double/triple it up Serve with a dollop of crème fraiche (or sour cream) and garnish with chives or parsley1 point

1 point<--- has never met a redneck with a $1200 coffee grinder or a $600 juicer who eats miso soup. <--- also currently lives deep in redneck territory. What about a redneck with a $1200 grill and a $600 AK? Wait, shit. I can see a redneck with an expensive grill and an AK... But damn, you guys take the fun out of sarcasm. If I was serious I would have said "you are no redneck you fuckin cocksucker". ...I....I made fun of his nascar plates. :-( Spelled it wrong. Nice car1 point

1 pointThe bar at the top is a static image with links embedded, shouldn't have a speed effect. The side tabs are a tiny script that shouldn't have much effect on the page load. Ha, you sound like our IT department. Key word is shouldn't; however, in life my experience when it comes to IT that is RARELY the case.1 point

1 pointAnd I laugh as my $100 spent does more than I will ever need and does it perfectly. Find a Vitamix for $100. For now. Just like everything in the kitchen the big difference will be if you use it heavily you will need more than 3 in your lifetime and only on Vmix. Of course if you don't use it much fine. At the same time, if you were using it for other things (which with your diet restrictions I am surprised you aren't) you would find the little guy does leave things lacking. The Vmix completely liquifies things allowing you to make velvety feeling soups out of basically a vegetable and some stock. Hell I even cook mine sometimes right in the blender. Just leave it on high for 5 minutes and the soup is near boiling. Put in strawberries with all the seeds and 20 seconds later it is a smooth liquid. There are definitely things it doesn't do better and it isn't logical for everyone to go out and buy one, but when you need it you need it. Mine regularly makes things like Carrot Ginger soup, Pumpkin soup, Potato soup, smoothies, snow cones, and once a summer frozen drinks. The snow cone is a multi-step process as first I have to make a coulois from some fruit and then shave the ice, but you should see the look on the little ones faces and then realize you are just feeding them fruit Key to a good frozen drink which will somewhat work in a lesser blender is to use NO ice. Just buy a bag (or freeze your own) of frozen strawberries (or other fruit with some liquid content) add booze and pulse. When it's a 100+ they taste great even to the manliest of men.1 point

Hell come to Minneapolis and I'll take you on a tour of cruise boats on Lake Minnetonka owned by NoDak rednecks. I grew up in Fargo ND, well okay Moorhead MN but if you look at a map you will realize why I said Fargo.1 point

1 pointSmoothie isn't juice as it includes all pulp. Liquifying veggies takes a Vitamix or Blendtec. Otherwise it will fail. If you are just adding veggies to a juicer that can still work but you end up with something much less good for you. Why so? If you want to just extract the sugar from something feel free. Sort of akin to only drinking the blood of an animal instead of eating it's flesh.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2

1 pointSo far it seems to be a lot better--though not the same as a few months ago. I have had a LOT of errors since. I am always wary to mention it but I have still been getting errors saying SSA is down. Pretty sure it wasn't the hop. It's acting worse than ever. WAY slower than it has ever been.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2

1 pointMay have to pull the cone reducer on the entrance to the intake. Wakes it up a bit at higher rpm. Only reason I've found they put them in was to detune the Taurus so it wouldn't outrun the stang.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2

1 pointMine pushed 382hp to the wheels which is well into the mid-4's at the crank. Pretty nutso out of 3.0L that was stretched to only 3.4L. Vadim personally built mine. Somewhat surprised his website still exists http://www.shoshop.com/1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2
1 pointDepends on how it was maintained and the transmission. I had an 89 and a 92. The 92 would eat the ML alive once rolling. True tire killer. With a bunch of boost mine still made it more than 100k miles. Took it's toll on other parts. Car is a bit antiquated these days but when it came out it put the M5 to shame in everything but fit and finish....of course assuming FWD is okay.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2
