  1. There are two things I have never had since I got "serious" into car audio. A 10" sub, or a decent dual sub setup. So this is my build for two 10" xcons! Im super excited, they should be finished building and arriving soon, I hope. I am fitting the maximum dimensions of my trunk while still being able to fold up the stock floor and access the spare tire. I was left with 3.11 internal cubic feet without sub, bracing, 45s, or port displacement. This is firing into the car, so I also needed the subs and port to be on the same face. The triangle port is unconventional but takes up less volume than a typical slot port inside the box and also has less port wall surface area, so I'm hoping it works out. That angle took some wizardry to figure out, and it still came out a little crooked but oh well. The "45s" are little pine cove trim pieces, figured this is the best I can do without sacrificing internal volume. I used minimal bracing but it should be enough, and undercoated everything with two cans, I honestly dont think it does anything but I like to do it on my boxes. it gives a solid completed look to the inside of the box and its extra leak insurance. Final volume and tuning should be 2.4 cubes at 31 hz with 25 sq in port area. The box is a little too small and the port is a little too small, but its all the space I have. Got some black base down and some custom copper orange pearl, trying my best to match the faceplate of my Crecendo BC3500. All thats left is to carpet it with black felt, wire the drivers in, and go to town!
  2. Looking forward to hanging out and having some drinks next spring in that garage Neal

I'm not doubting the durability of SSA's subwoofers. I just think the condition mine ended up in was kind of odd and not really explained. I look forward to giving the Zcon another run and hopefully I will be happy with it.
  5. those old Icons really got down I remember burping a 144db at 10hz with my four 10" at a comp a few years back... left everyone with that WTF look on their faces
  6. Nice looking material there sir.
  7. Worked this one with 80 grit for about 2 hours today.
  8. Team SSA bar in the works.
  9. About 2 hours of hand sanding with 80 grit. I am going after the old rough look and want some of the saw marks left. Next up 120 grit.

My gcon was a champ - if it survives in my hands it passes military grade requirements. Put threw it's proper paces and the driver shows no ware. 5* pretty soon i probably run nothing but ssa.

Definitely not. My Xcon gets wailed on and basically lives outside. Not exactly exposed to the elements, but only a canvas over it most of the year and I live in MN...

Glad it made it back safely and looks good. Our products have shown not to have durability issues. Just spoke with a guy earlier today who is still hammering on his Icon 10 from 2007.

Got the Zcon back today and the thing looks brand spanking new. Really happy with the outcome and big thanks to SSA for doing such a great job. Im still needing an amp, batteries, and wiring to get this build rolling. May be first of the year before this happens, waiting on bonus and tax money to fund the rest of the project. Will update when I get the rest of the things needed.
  14. Thank you David Still like new after all the beating it's taken. Had to jam some classics, Young Bleed & Paul Wall. I was going to play a scale from 30-50hz, but that kinda boring on video...lol
  15. saw that as well..... bout time. great idea, and very much needed.
  16. Glad it is working out. Write down what you have set now and start playing some more. Most likely you can have the same revelation again! You are starting to have first hand experience now in why we always say install is everything. The last thing to play with is the equipment, first the settings!
  17. It's incredible. I don't understand how I can feel the change like this ! I feel like the stage is right in front of me. It's obviuos when I close my eyes Some instruments have more presence, sound clearer. I don't know how to express that. Why do I feel like the sub sounds differently : maybe it's psycho acoustics lower, smoother, better ! That mini dsp purchase was a good upgrade for my system ! BTW those Seas ER18 are wonderful. Thanks again SSA, thanks again M5.
  18. When team members get them, I want to see a picture of them on their cars.
