Preview of my new box for 2 xcons
3 pointsA sneak peek of my new box . It is being built by Dave Marin of High Output Enclosures. It will be bed lined with a red port perhaps. It will have 5.0 cu ft net ,and is tuned @33 hz . I have two options for power . I can continue using two p1000x1's both have birth sheets of 1500 watt's , or I can use a synergy wfo 3500; but it'll have to be run at .5 ohm since I have dual 2ohm xcon 12's . Should sound great either way .3 points

The bracing is so "hot", you could use a plexi window to show it ! Nice box. I'd use the 2 amps, linked if possible. I don't like running too low impedance.1 point- TeamSSA Old School Mercedes, Old School Sound
I'll take some when the Lisa arrives. For now, links: http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/us-acoustics-barbara-ann-400w-4-channel-amplifier.html http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/us-acoustics-lisa-4-x-50-watt-amplifier.html1 point- Preview of my new box for 2 xcons

1 pointWish I had something to put this set (6.5 & tweet) in for personal enjoyment. I have a birthday coming up .........1 point- TeamSSA Old School Mercedes, Old School Sound
So amplifier changes have changed already. I had a US Acoustics Barbara Ann laying around. I am going to use it, I also just purchased a Lisa to pair with it.1 point- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)
1 pointdayum sexy! I think the white would be more muted for most installs... red can be too much maybe?1 point- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)
1 pointAaron has been working very hard on the development of these new EVIL1's, and one made it's way up to me in NY for photos. We are still undecided on the logo color, hence the two different renderings. What do you guys think?1 point- Preview of my new box for 2 xcons
1 point- To kick, or not to kick
1 pointIs that with T/A on or off? I'd try it both ways. The T/A the auto should be able to set....but that I never checked. Wasn't sure if it allows you to see what you set. You can listen with your subs on, just don't make too many decisions on what the front stage is doing while they are playing. Listening to every single driver independently is also a benefit as it really gives you an idea of what is going on. The other thing you can do for balance, phase and system understanding is generate test tones and listen to them. Here I'd listen to each driver independently and in pairs. Since you have only 16 defined bands of EQ I'd pick tones right at those bands. Will let you see at what frequencies you may need some eq.1 point- To kick, or not to kick
1 pointIgnore what others think is good....in particular in a car. I'd bet no one you run into will have a "good" system. If you want a reference I'd start with home audio. Of course the most cost effective home audio is a good set of headphones. I personally have some AKG cans and some custom molded in-the-ear monitors which both absolutely destroy ANY car I have ever heard. All that being said, it doesn't matter if headphones sound better or worse to you, what matters is what YOU like. The benefit of a headphone demo though is you will hear all the dynamics you might be missing which will let you of course then compare. Do beware, you are heading down a slippery slope of no satisfaction ever once you start to really analytically listen. While it is slippery it is also a great ride though so don't be scared. I sold my PRS almost 5 years ago. The EQ on it is graphic and my memory says it is rather easy to find...more so than the crossover points. 16 bands of Left and 16 bands of right. Our interest is only in the bands that are not at zero.1 point- To kick, or not to kick
1 pointListen to one of those home 8 and tweet systems with the tweeter facing a different direction. It would be enlightening1 point- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)
1 pointI did not set out to have these specific to one way or the other. They needed to be home audio friendly (on axis) and car audio friendly (off-axis). Sure, they lean towards on-axis in through testing, but they can still perform well off-axis.1 point- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)
1 pointAccording to the graphs the Fs is 736hz for the 4 ohm and 838hz for the 8 ohm version. So there's a good potential for a great crossover point with these.1 point- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)
1 pointa preview of the box the pair of EVIL1 tweeters will come in.1 point- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)
1 pointShould work great down to say 2600 htz ??? Or you thinking 3000 ???1 point- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)
1 pointGood question. Hadn't planned on it. I can ask the build house if that is something do-able.1 point- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)

0 pointsBlack and Red SSA is more subtle and fits the Evil theme, I like it better.0 points- Preview of my new box for 2 xcons
0 pointsDoes bracing like that really do anything that a couple of dowel rods or all thread can't do?0 points- SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)

-1 pointsGorgeous. If they perform like they look they should take the active audience by storm. With no a priori measurement details and only seeing the plot, I think Aaron's response is conservative. The response curve looks easily adaptable to both almost on and off axis response in car. Obviously nothing will beat a really small diaphragm for off axis response, but the flexibility of such a low Fs will more than counteract that in more than 90% of installs. The last thing I need is another set of tweeters...but pretty sure my curiosity won't be squelched until I own a pair.-1 points - SSA Evil 1 (first SSA tweeter)
