I say a vertical clam shell get my vote. Just like this one. Great looking wall IMO.

We highly recommend running around 300 watts to this sub. It is super efficient on that amount power, and really doesn't require more to get more output out of it.

Probably wouldn't be all that tough if you made it out of fiberglass, then a wooden top. This way you will get less "creeks" out of it then you would the wooden box. I have owned 4 camaro's in my day, and that was always my pet peeve.
